Chapter 6199 Outrage
Chapter 6199 Outrage
“The Evil Spirit race!” exclaimed one of the dragon experts.
Guo Ran and the others traced the voice to a passageway on their left side. A group of lifeforms with strange auras stood there.
They all had strange features—some had horns curling from their skulls, some bore wings beneath their ribs, and others were cloaked in scales. Their appearances differed, but all of them radiated dense spiritual qi, which reeked of malice and corruption.
They were from the Spirit race—but of the dark faction. The Spirit race was divided between good and wicked lineages, and this branch was unmistakably the latter.
The Evil Spirit race was infamous, possessing sharp senses, powerful mental energy, and astonishing recovery abilities. It was never wise to underestimate them.
Seeing the dragon race occupying the neighboring passageway, some of the Evil Spirit race cultivators flinched. But then, they saw that the dragon race had only brought a hundred thousand experts. In an instant, disdain flickered on their faces.
After all, the Evil Spirit race had brought a force of eight hundred million. Though only a few thousand among them were hundred-flame divine sprouts, their numbers alone gave them confidence.
Their leader was a red-haired man with golden horns. His Sovereign flames were hidden, but the pressure he exuded indicated he had likely condensed around three hundred.
By comparison, the strongest dragon race cultivators seemed to only possess two hundred Sovereign flames. This apparent inferiority made the Evil Spirit race sneer in contempt.
What they didn’t know was that in the Seven Treasure Space, the dragon race elites had experienced countless deaths. Now, they had absolute control over their auras.
The Evil Spirit race, on the other hand, had focused solely on condensing Sovereign flames, neglecting their foundation. As a result, their auras were leaking and a bit hollow.
Guo Ran and the others couldn’t help but curl their lips. They almost immediately looked away, as if responding would be a loss of status.
Long Chen didn’t even look at the Evil Spirit race from the start, enraging them. The feeling of being completely ignored was not a good one.
“The dragon race has fallen far from its former glory,” sneered the golden-horned man. “You’ll end up like the human race—weak, hunted, and broken. Soon, you’ll all be prey.”
In the past, such words would have ignited the wrath of the prideful dragon race.
However, all the dragon experts here were elites amongst elites. Having experienced death over and over again in the Seven Treasure Space, they had extremely solid Dao-hearts. Such a cheap provocation couldn’t affect their emotions.
Long Chen simply gazed into the distance. The crystalline passageway stretched out endlessly before him, its layered space concealing much of what lay ahead. He could only make out a few dozen nearby channels and hear those directly to his left and right.
To their left was the Evil Spirit race.
To the right—surprisingly—was a group of humans.
These humans wore black armor, and their Blood Qi pulsed with ancient might. Though they were only three thousand in number, each was a hundred-flame divine sprout.
They couldn’t be nameless vagabonds. Whatever background they had, it was surely extraordinary. But Long Chen had never heard of any group like them.
They had no symbols or sect markers on them. Clearly, they didn’t want others to know who they were.
“So there are still hidden inheritances in the nine heavens,” Long Chen sighed.
Now that the heaven region’s battlefield had opened, all the slumbering factions of the world were set into motion. Of the dozens of visible passageways, many housed unfamiliar races.
The whole world was on the move.
When Guo Ran saw one group in particular, his expression changed.
He asked, “Boss, look at that channel. Did those people come looking for trouble?”
Guo Ran wasn’t the only one glaring at those people. The atmosphere around that particular passage was tense, even filled with killing intent.
Unlike the other channels, which contained mostly hundred-flame divine sprouts, this one was filled with common Sovereign sprouts.
Most of them hadn’t even condensed ten Sovereign flames, and their strongest fighters hadn’t surpassed twenty.
At this moment, experts on the passageways beside that channel were cursing furiously. But due to the distance, no one knew what they were saying.
Still, based on their outrage, they were definitely demanding to know where these weaklings were from.
These weaklings wore masks that concealed their identity. They completely ignored the curses and threats that rained down upon them.
“Damn them. They’re just sending heads over to the other side with this kind of cultivation base! They’re dragging down the entire nine heavens!” Xue Tu growled.
“Don’t be mad,” said Xia Chen. “Didn’t Boss say there was something fishy about why our side kept losing?”
“But… this is still too hateful!” Xue Tu shouted, unable to hold back his emotions.
“I have two questions. One—why would they enter the battlefield when they’re clearly doomed? Two—who gave them a passageway?” asked Qing Yi curiously.
Everyone looked at Long Chen.
Long Chen casually replied, “The answer to the first question is very simple. Who doesn’t dream of getting stronger? The heaven region’s battlefield is full of legacies, divine inheritances, opportunities that can change fate. That’s enough to drive anyone crazy.
“When death isn’t yet upon them, people always believe they’ll be the lucky ones. That logic ‘wealth found in danger’ is etched into the hearts of cultivators. You shouldn’t feel too much resentment toward them. If the roles were reversed, if you were just Sovereign sprouts with one desperate shot at changing your destiny… would you let it go?”
“Well…”
Everyone fell silent, thinking about the dragon race’s disciples who couldn’t enter the battlefield. If not for Long Chen’s authority, some of them could’ve risked everything for a chance to enter—rebellion and death be damned.
Their initial anger faded. Now, there was only thoughtfulness in their eyes.
“Everyone is equal before fate,” said Long Chen. “You can call them reckless or ignorant. But if you’re going to hate anyone, hate the ones who sent them here—who used their dreams as bait. That is where the evil lies.”
“Then… who are those people?” someone asked.
Long Chen only smiled and didn’t say anything.
It was Guo Ran who muttered, “The Brahma line?”
“If it’s them, what could they gain from this?” Di Mengyao asked, frowning.
“No idea,” Long Chen replied. “But even if it’s not them, this reeks of their methods. The Brahma line has always tried to dominate the nine heavens. What they hide behind the curtain, we don’t know. But don’t be distracted. Just follow the plan. This time, we must win!”
Just then, divine light burst before them.
An enormous gate—so vast that its ends couldn’t be seen—appeared up ahead, illuminating the crystalline path.
