Chapter 177: A Real Bloodbath

An hour later, the crimson light reached the Blue Planet's atmosphere. Indeed, as Yu Xian had assumed, the crimson light's original target was Huaxia. However, Huaxia had been moved into a pocket dimension, and the only thing left in its place was a large hole filled with countless formations. The crimson light paused on Huaxia's original location for only a short while before changing course toward the Glorious Dragon Empire.

Yu Xian was so exasperated by the sight that he laughed. He couldn't even imagine Huaxia's fate if it had not been moved into a pocket dimension. At the same time, he swore a silent oath. If he ever became powerful enough to catch up to Edward, he would kill him without hesitation.

He continued monitoring Edward's actions through eyeball bubbles. Soon, he saw a black cross fashioned from three sinister skeletal remains descend into Vanciscoton, the capital of the Glorious Dragon Empire. With a thunderous crash, the cross slammed into the metropolis's busiest street.

Dark clouds swiftly covered the sky, turning day into night in the blink of an eye, while a suffocating presence permeated the air. Chaos erupted all around. To avoid the cross, cars swerved and crashed straight into nearby stores. Several supernatural beings rushed toward the cross, intending to clear the obstruction, but when they touched the cross, numerous cracks spread across their bodies. With a bloodcurdling scream, they exploded into pieces.

The explosion sprayed flesh and blood over the onlookers, sending them collapsing to the ground by the dozens. Their mangled corpses looked as though they had taken direct hits from shotguns. Many even had their skulls blown clean off.

Yu Xian drew a sharp breath. He had considered teleporting the Star Divine Artifact to another world. But now, forget about teleporting the cross. Hle would probably die a gruesome death just from touching it.

A mass of crimson light slowly descended from the dark clouds and came to rest atop the cross. The crimson light gradually transformed into a voluminous cloak, finally revealing Edward beneath it. He looked completely different from the Edward Yu Xian had seen in videos.

In the videos, Edward looked short, scrawny, rather effeminate, and perpetually squint-eyed. Now, however, he stood over 1.9 meters tall, with a powerful, imposing build. His crimson eyes gleamed with such overwhelming pressure that the mere sight of him inspired fear.

Edward looked into the distance and roared, "Supreme Hero, come out!"

The Glorious Dragon Empire followed a policy in which ordinary people governed ordinary people, while supernatural beings were granted complete autonomy so long as they did not interfere with ordinary people. In practice, however, this simply meant survival of the fittest.

Under this policy, numerous supernatural beings banded together and formed various organizations. Among them, the Supreme Alliance led by Supreme Hero was the strongest. It could be said that the true ruler of the Glorious Dragon Empire was not its president, but Supreme Hero.

Following Edward's thunderous roar, numerous figures appeared atop the surrounding buildings. Some even perched atop the streetlights. Clad in a blue-and-red battle suit, Supreme Hero slowly descended from the sky and hovered before Edward.

Supreme Hero possessed Super Brain, Super Physique, Super Strength, Super Speed, Super Regeneration, Super Organs, Super Lifespan, Super Stamina, Super Force Field, and Super Steel Body, among various other abilities. Moreover, he could grow stronger by basking in sunlight and moonlight. It could be said that he was the existence closest to God-rank in the Glorious Dragon Empire.

Supreme Hero solemnly stared at Edward as the sun emblem on his chest radiated a brilliant glow. "Edward, you have chosen the wrong path. Now you must face the consequences!"

However, to his surprise, Edward showed no sign of discomfort beneath its radiance. The light emitted by the sun emblem on Supreme Hero's chest shared the same origin as the sun. By all rights, Edward should have been screaming and begging for mercy.

Edward looked at Supreme Hero and sneered. "How foolish. You think a false sun can harm a true god?"

Since Supreme Hero had made his first move, Edward saw no reason to hold back. Edward appeared before the Supreme Hero instantly, a longsword forged from his blood slashing toward the latter. Frowning, Supreme Hero raised his hands to block, only for the longsword to sever them.

Supreme Hero cried out in shock. "My hands!"

He possessed Super Steel Body. The last time he was injured was several centuries ago.

Edward was about to cleave the rest of Supreme Hero into two, but a silver figure kicked off the nearby buildings and charged toward them at tremendous speed. It was Bullet Train Man. When Bullet Train Man first gained his supernatural powers, his speed was comparable to that of a bullet train, which earned him his name. His current speed had long since surpassed a bullet train's and could now reach Mach 250.

Bullet Train Man appeared beside Edward and splashed him with holy water. The next instant, he reappeared on Edward's other side and scattered garlic all over him.

Everyone knew that Edward was immune to silver and crosses, but vulnerable to the sun, holy water, and garlic. Since the sky was blanketed with dark clouds, Bullet Train Man could only go for holy water and garlic. He had assumed Edward would let go of Supreme Hero and dodge them. Instead, Edward neither evaded nor retreated, merely turning a cold gaze upon him.

Not good! Bullet Train Man’s heart jolted in panic as he desperately tried to leap out of Edward's attack range, but before he could even move, the longsword cleaved him in two.

AAAAAAAHHH! Bullet Train Man let out a piercing scream as the upper half of his body fell to the ground.

But this nevertheless bought the others enough time to react. A barrage of miniature missiles struck Edward from the back, only to be blocked by his blood-red cloak.

Hovering in the air in a suit of armor, Armor Man spoke in his usual flippant tone. "Unfortunately for you, you're facing me, Armor Man. I suggest you surrender peacefully. Lady Sunshine, go save them!"

Countless suits of armor flew in from all directions, each locking its missiles onto Edward. Yu Xian could kill supernatural beings with explosives, and the missiles carried by those suits of armor were more than ten times as powerful as his explosives. If all those missiles struck simultaneously, they could inflict severe injuries upon even a Dragon-rank powerhouse.

Edward had been splashed with holy water and pelted with garlic by Bullet Train Man, then bombarded with missiles. Although he was no longer afraid of holy water and garlic and his blood-red cloak had stopped the missiles, the ordeal still irritated him.

The veins on his forehead bulged. With a flicker of his thought, the Devil Cross in the distance instantly appeared behind him, as though it had teleported. Its path happened to pass directly through Armor Man's position. By the time everyone realized what had happened, Armor Man had turned into a cloud of blood.

Every superhero on the scene froze. Then they noticed the cross behind Edward. The three mummified corpses on the cross slowly opened their eyes, and the cross radiated an indescribably powerful pressure.

The air seemed to congeal. Unable to withstand the crushing pressure, the windows and walls of the surrounding buildings cracked.

Green Titan was the first to react, and he roared in terror, "Run!"

He immediately turned around and fled. Before the other superheroes came back to their senses, crimson energy erupted from the cross behind Edward. The crimson energy shot straight into the sky, forming a pillar of light, along with a colossal grim reaper.

Edward's eyes flared with crimson light as he sneered with murderous intent. "Ants, this is the price you pay for offending a new god! Soul-Reaping Blood Scythe!"

He swept his hand outward. The enormous grim reaper followed his movement, swinging an impossibly huge scythe across the surrounding area. A circular wave of crimson light burst from the scythe. The surrounding buildings were the first to be destroyed, and everyone hiding in them vanished instantly.

A black stone golem shielded the superheroes behind him. He gritted his teeth and shouted, "Go! I'll buy you time!"

The very next instant, the crimson light swept over him, shattering his body. Before he could utter any final words, a second wave struck, reducing what remained of him to dust!

"Rock Man!"

None of the superheroes had expected Rock Man, who was renowned for his defensive prowess, to die so easily.

Another hero who chose to stand his ground was Adamantium Badger, whose regenerative ability was exceptionally powerful. He roared and charged forward, but when the crimson light swept over him, it melted him instantly, leaving not even his Adamantium bones behind.

"Oh my God! Run!"

The superheroes on the rooftop fled frantically. Supreme Hero had lost both his hands, but his flight speed remained astonishingly fast. He raced ahead of everyone else, leaving a long trail of blood behind him.

Most of the superheroes, however, could not outrun the expanding crimson light. It swept over them one after another, and their screams soon fell silent.

The wave of crimson light spread rapidly. Couples sharing a kiss, a mother who had just given birth, a family celebrating their child's birthday, newlyweds in the middle of their wedding, all saw the crimson light approaching in their final moments. In just one minute, everything within more than 5,300 square kilometers of the Glorious Dragon Empire's capital was razed to the ground.

High above, countless tiny eyeball bubbles watched the devastation unfold. They trembled in response to Yu Xian's emotions. A single attack had wiped out a city inhabited by tens of millions.

Rivers of blood. Countless lives lost. Only at this moment did Yu Xian finally gain a stark, vivid understanding of what those phrases meant. When brought to life, the reality was far more brutal than words could ever express.
