Necromancer: I Am A Disaster
Chapter 884: A Twenty-Eight-Year-Old Transcendent God? That’s Unheard Of!
One after another, the examinees stepped forward for the assessment.
Most received a good evaluation.
Only a handful earned an excellent evaluation, and even among them, the red glow emitted by the Star Crystal was faint, indicating they had only reached low-tier excellent.
Even so, every guide whose examinee achieved an excellent evaluation beamed with excitement, drawing envious glances from the others.
Even Gu Qingxuan couldn't completely hide the trace of envy in her eyes.
Lin Moyu observed that the examinees were generally between ninety-five and two hundred years old, with strength ranging from Transcendent God 1st tier to Transcendent God 3rd tier.
He also noticed that being a Transcendent God 3rd tier didn't guarantee a high evaluation.
Clearly, the assessment wasn't based on one's current strength. Instead, it adjusted a person's standards relative to their present strength.
At last, it was Lin Moyu's turn.
Sheng Gaoxuan chuckled. "Young fellow, we're counting on you now."
Half of the remark was clearly aimed at Gu Qingxuan.
She let out a soft snort before turning to Lin Moyu, "Don't be nervous. Just follow the instructions once you're inside."
Lin Moyu smiled, "Don't worry."
He already knew what was about to happen.
The first thing that would shock everyone was his age.
Even Lin Moyu himself could barely remember it anymore.
Was he twenty-eight? Twenty-nine? He wasn't entirely sure.
Time had blurred together while he immersed himself in law comprehension, and he hadn't bothered keeping track.
One thing was certain—he was still under thirty.
Under countless watchful eyes, Lin Moyu placed his palm on the Star Crystal.
A number suddenly appeared: twenty-eight.
The number shone with dazzling clarity.
Gu Qingxuan gasped, her eyes widening in disbelief.
The crowd collectively drew a sharp breath.
"Impossible! He's only twenty-eight?"
"A twenty-eight-year-old Transcendent God? That's unheard of! Even the freaks of God City couldn't achieve something like this!"
"The Star Crystal has to be malfunctioning. There's no way he's only twenty-eight. He must be one hundred and twenty-eight."
"Exactly! The crystal must be broken!"
Not a single person believed the result.
A twenty-eight-year-old Transcendent God was simply beyond common sense.
Lin Moyu had expected this reaction.
Ignoring the uproar, he calmly walked into the assessment chamber.
With a deep rumble, the massive door slowly closed behind him.
Just then, the surrounding space rippled.
Old Luo appeared before the crowd.
Hearing the noisy commotion, he frowned, "Silence."
His voice wasn't loud, but it instantly quieted the crowd. No one dared disobey him.
As the guardian of the War God Temple, Old Luo possessed unfathomable strength.
His gaze shifted to the glowing number displayed on the Star Crystal, "Who just entered?"
Gu Qingxuan immediately replied, "It's Lin Moyu."
Old Luo nodded, "Not bad. Young and promising."
His sharp eyes swept across the crowd, "Confidence is admirable. Ignorance is not. If you have time, go read the Chronicles of War God."
With that, his figure faded, disappearing without a trace.
Only after Old Luo left did the crowd gradually recover from their shock.
"What did Old Luo mean?"
"The Chronicles of War God... isn't that the record of War God's life?"
"Why tell us to read it?"
Gu Qingxuan reacted quickly.
Immediately connecting to the Human Emperor Network, she searched its public archives.
Within moments, she found the Chronicles of War God.
As her eyes swept across the contents, they suddenly widened.
"War God... also became a Transcendent God at the age of twenty-eight."
Disbelief filled her face.
She wasn't the only one.
Many others hurriedly searched through the records as well. Before long, stunned expressions spread throughout the crowd.
"Is Old Luo saying this kid's talent rivals War God's?"
"Don't be absurd. He's just some lucky guy from a small world. How could he possibly compare to War God?"
"War God's status is beyond imagination. That kid isn't even qualified to be mentioned in the same breath."
"Say what you want, but the records don't lie. He really did become a Transcendent God at twenty-eight. At the very least, his potential is undeniable."
The crowd erupted into heated discussion, the debate showing no signs of ending.
Gu Qingxuan remained frozen in shock.
She had never imagined that the person she had decided to guide on a whim possessed such astonishing talent.
She was now certain that Lin Moyu would have no trouble earning an excellent evaluation. Even a supreme evaluation no longer seemed impossible.
...
Inside the assessment chamber, Lin Moyu once again found himself standing beneath a vast starry sky.
It looked identical to the one inside the cultivation chamber.
The difference was that the cultivation chamber's starry sky had been created through formations, while this one was generated by the Human Emperor Network.
One was real, the other virtual.
Though they appeared identical, their underlying nature was completely different.
Figures gradually appeared throughout the vast expanse.
There were Zerg, Dreadbeast, Minotaur, and many others.
There were also many unfamiliar races.
Some resembled clumps of weeds, swaying gently through space. Others were little more than floating spheres lined with rows of razor-sharp teeth.
His gaze swept across the battlefield.
Exactly one hundred other race experts stood before him—one representative from each race.
Judging from their auras, every one of them was Transcendent God 1st tier, perfectly matching his own realm.
Although Lin Moyu knew they were merely virtual constructs created by the Human Emperor Network, they looked so lifelike that distinguishing them from real beings was nearly impossible.
The hundred other race experts stood motionless in space like living targets.
A mechanical voice echoed through the chamber.
"Examinee, eliminate the other race targets using your law arts. The more targets destroyed, the higher your evaluation. Time limit: thirty minutes."
Lin Moyu immediately understood the rules.
Although the targets would not fight back, their health and defenses were identical to those of real individuals.
The assessment measured nothing but killing efficiency.
Inside the Human Emperor Network, he no longer needed to hold back.
Remembering Gu Qingxuan's advice, he decided to go all out from the very beginning.
Entering God City was non-negotiable.
Whether for himself, his small world, or his slumbering wife, Lin Moyu had every reason to pursue greater strength with everything he had.
With a flick of his finger, the Undeath World descended.
Star-grade law art: Undead Gaze!
The starry sky instantly darkened as gray mist swallowed the brilliant starlight.
The Undead Eye spanning one hundred thousand meters slowly opened, its cold gaze falling upon the opponent.
In the next instant, an other race expert died.
The Human Emperor Network truly lived up to its reputation.
Even his law arts had been reconstructed with perfect fidelity. Their effects were virtually indistinguishable from those in the real world.
Undead Gaze could instantly kill opponents of the same realm unless they possessed exceptionally powerful soul defenses.
Otherwise, escape was impossible.
As the first target fell, the slaughter officially began.
Locking onto the target with his soul, Lin Moyu unleashed another law art.
Law art: Corpse Explosion!
Explosions rippled through the battlefield one after another, carving a path of destruction through the opponents.
Other race experts died in droves.
To Lin Moyu, a mere hundred opponents were insignificant.
Back in his small world, he had slaughtered hundreds of thousands without batting an eye.
What was a hundred?
It wasn't even enough for a proper warm-up.
He never bothered using any other law arts, nor did he bother with laws.
With only Undead Gaze and Corpse Explosion, he wiped out every other race expert in under five seconds.
Five seconds later, the starry sky was littered with corpses.
A thick scent of blood filled the space.
Though only an illusion, the smell seemed to assault the soul itself, spreading across the vast expanse of space.
"It can even simulate the scent of blood. The Human Emperor Network truly is extraordinary."
Yet, at that very moment, the Human Emperor Network seemed to freeze.
No response came.
Five more seconds passed before the mechanical voice finally sounded again.
"Preparing the second round of assessment. Please wait..."
