Necromancer: I Am A Disaster
Chapter 876: One Has To Remain United Within While Displaying Unwavering Ruthlessness Toward Outsiders
Lin Moyu spotted a burly figure with a bull head. The man resembled a human by roughly sixty to seventy percent.
He couldn't identify the race, but the man looked like some kind of half-human, half-bull creature.
His eyes blazed with savage ferocity. The instant their gazes met, Lin Moyu felt as though he were staring into a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood.
This was undoubtedly another ruthless powerhouse who had fought his way to the top through endless slaughter.
The human God Sovereign stepped forward, placing himself squarely between Lin Moyu and the bull-headed God Sovereign.
His gaze turned icy, his body radiating lethal intent as he stood his ground without yielding an inch.
"You're welcome to try."
Behind him, law surged like a tidal wave, condensing into countless different weapons seemingly capable of shaking the heavens.
The atmosphere instantly became suffocating.
"Retreat! Quickly!"
The True Gods of different races paled and hurriedly fled.
If two God Sovereigns clashed, even the aftershocks would be enough to annihilate them. Whether they lived or died would be left entirely to fate.
The bull-headed God Sovereign's eyes flashed with menace. His fists tightened as law rumbled around them like raging torrents.
Beside Lin Moyu, the human woman he had met once before spoke softly, "Don't be afraid. Master can protect you."
Lin Moyu remained silent, appearing frozen with fear.
To everyone present, that reaction was perfectly natural.
A mere Transcendent God standing before God Sovereigns would be terrified.
If he weren't, that would have been truly strange.
The standoff lasted for more than a dozen seconds.
Then, without warning, the bull-headed God Sovereign suddenly unclenched his fists and slowly stepped back.
"He backed down."
"He looked so aggressive just now. Why is he retreating?"
Lin Moyu was inwardly astonished.
Only now did he truly witness the human race's dominance within the greater world.
Just as Antares had said, the human race stood among the strongest races in the greater world, inferior to none.
Now, Lin Moyu saw that those words were no exaggeration.
After retreating a hundred meters, the bull-headed God Sovereign sent a soul-echo, "Since the one who emerged is a junior of the human race, you may take him."
It was an elegant way of preserving his dignity. God Sovereigns valued their pride above all else, and Lin Moyu could understand that.
"Let's go."
The human God Sovereign flicked his sleeve, sweeping Lin Moyu before rapidly soaring away.
After traveling tens of thousands of kilometers, the human God Sovereign finally came to a stop.
With a casual wave, he tossed out a sphere of light.
The light burst apart, transforming into a flying ship roughly twenty meters long.
The three boarded, and the flying ship immediately became a streak of flowing light that shot into the depths of the starry sky.
Its speed was astonishing.
In a single breath, it traversed ten thousand kilometers, far faster than Lin Moyu's Deathwings.
Yet despite moving at such incredible velocity, the stars beyond seemed almost motionless, drifting by with agonizing slowness.
Lin Moyu couldn't help but marvel.
The greater world truly lived up to its name.
Compared to the small world, it was an entirely different realm. Its scale and magnificence far exceeded even his boldest imagination.
Looking through the window, he realized they had already traveled far from the small world.
The dense mist that marked his homeland had completely disappeared from sight.
As he silently bid farewell to his homeland, a trace of reluctance surfaced in his heart, leaving his emotions complicated.
Just then, a refined fragrance of tea drifted into his nose, instantly refreshing his mind.
The human God Sovereign was seated calmly at a tea table while the young woman prepared tea beside him with practiced elegance.
"Young friend, come have a cup of tea." The God Sovereign smiled warmly.
His demeanor was gentle and approachable, like a kindly old man, completely devoid of the overwhelming pressure he had displayed moments earlier.
The contrast was so striking that it felt as though he were an entirely different person.
Breathing in the aroma of tea, Lin Moyu was reminded of the days he had spent in the White God Courtyard.
He couldn't help but wonder whether he would ever have the chance to meet his teachers again.
When she noticed that Lin Moyu remained where he was, the woman assumed he was simply overwhelmed.
“There's no need to be nervous. Master is actually easy to talk to.”
The God Sovereign nodded with a smile, “Our young friend has only just entered the greater world. It's only natural that he isn't accustomed to it yet. Don't worry, you'll adapt in time.”
As the woman poured the tea, her profile seemed exceptionally delicate.
Lin Moyu noticed that she was completely absorbed in the task.
She wasn't merely pouring tea out of courtesy or respect.
Every movement was performed with absolute focus, as though the simple act of brewing and serving tea were itself a form of cultivation.
After pouring a cup for the God Sovereign, she filled another for Lin Moyu.
“Come, have some tea.”
Believing that he still hadn't settled his nerves, her normally cool voice softened.
“My name is Gu Qingxuan. What is yours?”
Lin Moyu stepped over to the tea table and bowed respectfully.
“Junior Lin Moyu greets Senior God Sovereign and Senior Gu.”
Only then did the God Sovereign and Gu Qingxuan feel that Lin Moyu had finally recovered from his initial shock.
They had seen newcomers react this way many times before, so neither found it unusual.
With a kind smile, the God Sovereign said, “My title is Night Breeze.”
Gu Qingxuan smiled as well, “There's no need to be so restrained. Though it's perfectly normal for you to feel this way now, you'll understand in time.”
In truth, Lin Moyu had long since regained his composure.
He was simply a man of few words, which had led them to misunderstand his silence.
God Sovereign Night Breeze said, “Young Friend Lin, to emerge from a small world, you are indeed an exceptionally rare talent.”
“When Qingxuan encountered you by chance in that small world, she told me afterward that you possessed extraordinary potential.”
“She even left you the Guiding Jade Token. It was because of that jade token that I sensed your arrival and came to guide you personally.”
At last, Lin Moyu understood.
So that was why God Sovereign Night Breeze and Gu Qingxuan had arrived so promptly—it was all thanks to the Guiding Jade Token.
Lin Moyu took out the jade token.
The front was carved with a picturesque valley of lush mountains and clear waters, while the back bore the character Xuan (璇), perfectly matching Gu Qingxuan's name.
Lin Moyu asked, “Senior, if you hadn't come, what would have happened to me?”
God Sovereign Night Breeze smiled kindly.
“Nothing serious. As you saw earlier, there were human powerhouses among the crowd as well.”
“Under everyone's watchful eyes, the other races wouldn't have dared go too far. At worst, they would have given you a warning to intimidate you.”
“If they had truly harmed you, they would have invited retaliation from the human race. Destroying a few of their planets would have been an entirely ordinary response.”
Destroying a few planets...
God Sovereign Night Breeze spoke as though he were discussing something utterly insignificant, without the slightest trace of killing intent.
Yet Lin Moyu felt a chill run down his spine.
He knew those planets were inhabited worlds, each home to countless living beings.
For the human race, destroying entire planets in retaliation was treated as routine.
Such vengeance was merciless beyond imagination.
Gu Qingxuan spoke softly, “The greater world isn't like a small world. If you aren't ruthless enough, others will only push further and further. In the end, the losses will be even greater.
“Only by beating them until they fear us or until they're dead can we secure lasting peace.”
Lin Moyu silently agreed.
That was simply the reality of the greater world.
To survive in such a cruel environment, one had to remain united within while displaying unwavering ruthlessness toward outsiders.
Now Lin Moyu understood that even if God Sovereign Night Breeze hadn't appeared, he would likely have been intimidated, but his life would never have been in real danger.
But another question arose.
Why had God Sovereign Night Breeze personally come to guide him?
Was it merely because he had emerged from a small world?
Given God Sovereign Night Breeze's status, even if someone needed to guide him, there was no reason for him to make the trip himself.
Could it be because of Gu Qingxuan?
For a moment, Lin Moyu couldn't figure it out.
Sensing his confusion, God Sovereign Night Breeze smiled, "Young Friend, to emerge from a small world and reach the Transcendent God realm, you are an exceptionally rare genius."
"The human race has always placed great importance on nurturing talented individuals."
"I happened to have some free time. Since helping you also counts as assisting Qingxuan in completing her mission, I simply made the trip."
Lin Moyu immediately caught the key word: mission.
Gu Qingxuan had a mission? And guiding him was part of it?
The whole matter seemed rather strange.
There was also another mystery that continued to puzzle him.
Why had God Sovereign Night Breeze isolated him from the baptism of the greater world's laws?
