Necromancer: I Am A Disaster
Chapter 874: Starlight Path; Invisible Law
Lin Moyu knew the puppet wouldn't recognize the law of time.
It was too high-end—a top-tier law, not something commonplace.
Just because Antares and the Star Tree could identify it didn't mean anyone else could.
The puppet was only at the Transcendent God realm.
Although forged from extraordinary materials that made it extremely durable—even Transcendent God 9th tier experts couldn't damage it—it remained just a puppet.
Its unparalleled durability had filled it with arrogance, leaving it fearless.
Until now.
The law of undeath had pierced its seemingly indestructible body, shattering both its defenses and its confidence.
Panic flashed across its face as it stood completely at a loss.
Lin Moyu didn't press the attack. Instead, he asked calmly, "Senior, can you step aside now?"
He could tell the puppet's body was forged from extraordinary materials, possessing remarkable regenerative abilities.
As long as it suffered no further damage, its wounds would eventually heal completely.
There was no need to corner it. By holding back, he left it a way out.
The puppet possessed intelligence and self-awareness. Any sentient being, when given a choice, would rather live than die.
After a long silence, the puppet muttered, "I'm only a puppet... merely a gatekeeper."
Without another word, it stepped aside and yielded the path.
Only then did Lin Moyu withdraw the law of undeath.
Without its corrosive effects, the puppet's wounds slowly began to mend.
Looking at Lin Moyu, the puppet sighed, "You are even stronger than those people from the previous age."
From beginning to end, it hadn't managed to launch a single attack.
Lin Moyu had suppressed it completely, rendering the blade and sword in its hands nothing more than ornaments.
Compared to those experts from the previous age, Lin Moyu was far more impressive.
Lin Moyu smiled faintly, "Thank you for the compliment."
Stronger than the class users of the previous age? He knew it was true.
It wasn't arrogance; it was fact.
Those people had ultimately failed to become the world lord.
Worse still, they had committed acts that plunged the current age into misery.
If he ever encountered them after entering the greater world, he would make them answer for everything.
The Starlight Path truly lived up to its name.
Countless streams of starlight descended from the greater world, weaving together into a dazzling pathway.
Standing within it, Lin Moyu could clearly sense the immense power of the greater world.
It was an indescribable force—boundless, majestic, and overwhelming.
In its presence, he felt unimaginably small.
Behind him, a pair of beautiful eyes shimmered with complicated emotions.
Lilian had expected a fierce battle between Lin Moyu and the gatekeeper puppet.
Instead, the confrontation had ended in such an unexpected way.
Lin Moyu had used a method she could not even comprehend to force it to concede on its own.
More importantly, she could tell he had been fully capable of killing it. He had simply chosen not to.
If he could kill the gatekeeper puppet, eliminating her would not be difficult either.
The more she observed him, the less she could understand him.
Sensing her gaze, Lin Moyu asked, "Is something wrong?"
Lilian withdrew her gaze and turned toward the Starlight Path.
The passage shimmered with countless colors, vibrant streams of starlight intertwining into a breathtaking spectacle.
Yet amid such beauty, she felt only the overwhelming insignificance of her own existence.
Softly, she said, "We've already entered the domain of the greater world. You should be able to sense its aura... and realize just how insignificant you are."
Lin Moyu nodded.
The aura of the greater world was still faint, yet the feeling of being insignificant was astonishingly intense.
It weighed heavily on his mind, filling him with an unfamiliar sense of discomfort.
Lilian continued, "Anyone capable of reaching the Transcendent God realm and leaving a small world naturally becomes proud of their achievements."
"But the moment they step into the greater world… They receive a harsh awakening."
"It makes them realize how tiny they truly are, compelling them to approach the greater world with awe and reverence."
Lin Moyu paused before glancing at her, "How do you know that?"
Lilian had entered the Starlight Path alongside him and had yet to truly set foot in the greater world. So how could she know such things?
Lilian replied evenly, "I have my own sources. That's outside the scope of our cooperation, so I'm under no obligation to explain."
Lin Moyu knew she was hiding far more than she let on.
Still, since she had no intention of revealing her secrets, he had no interest in prying.
Their relationship was nothing more than a temporary alliance.
He didn't even particularly care whether she lived or died.
His only goal was to fulfill his promise and be done with it.
What happened afterward… even if she were killed the moment she left, that had nothing to do with him.
Silence settled between them once more. Lin Moyu continued down the Starlight Path.
The passage stretched on without end. He had been walking for nearly half a day, yet its end remained nowhere in sight.
The puppet had warned him that the Starlight Path was anything but safe, and that only those who had reached the Transcendent God 3rd tier had a realistic chance of crossing it safely.
Yet after half a day's journey, they had encountered nothing.
Apart from the ever-shifting sea of multicolored starlight, the endless passage was completely empty.
Then, almost imperceptibly, a faint sense of oppression emerged.
From the moment it appeared, the feeling spiraled out of control.
His emotions grew increasingly restless.
The passage remained deathly silent, yet the deeper the silence became, the more unbearable it felt.
Negative thoughts surged through his mind.
An overwhelming urge to vent, to release every trace of frustration buried within him, welled up uncontrollably.
In the next instant, Lin Moyu realized something was wrong.
Lightning flashed across his eyes as a thunderous roar erupted within his soul world.
The Nine-Colored Dragon Soul Crystal answered with a majestic roar, instantly sweeping away every trace of agitation.
His thoughts became crystal clear once more.
A lingering chill crept through him. He had fallen under the influence of an unseen force without noticing in the slightest.
The technique was frighteningly subtle and sophisticated.
Turning to Lilian, he saw her eyes glow crimson.
Her fists were clenched so tightly that her knuckles had turned white, and her slender body trembled uncontrollably.
Judging by her expression, she knew something was wrong, yet she couldn't suppress it.
"Don't move."
Lin Moyu tapped a finger against her forehead, sending an invisible force directly into her soul world.
A sharp pain pierced Lilian's soul. Then a deafening Dragon roar echoed through her consciousness.
Her body shuddered violently, and the restless emotions vanished in an instant.
The crimson glow faded from her eyes, and clarity returned.
She let out a long breath, "Thank you."
Lin Moyu smiled faintly, "Until I've escorted you out, I'll make sure you stay alive."
The implication was obvious. Their cooperation hadn't ended yet, and he wouldn't allow her to die before it did.
Lilian asked, "Was that a technique Sir Antares taught you?"
Lin Moyu offered no reply.
Just as she had her own secrets, he had his.
There was no chance he would reveal the existence of the Nine-Colored Dragon Soul Crystal.
Understanding the boundary, Lilian wisely let the matter drop.
This had been merely the first trial, and they had passed it.
As he reflected on what had happened, Lin Moyu realized the invisible law could directly influence the soul and cloud the mind.
A Transcendent God 1st tier would find it nearly impossible to resist.
By the Transcendent God 3rd tier, however, one could at least recognize the influence and gradually dispel it.
Even without the Nine-Colored Dragon Soul Crystal, Lin Moyu could have eventually purged the corruption from his own soul.
It simply would have taken more time and effort.
Lilian, on the other hand, would have been in danger.
Perhaps she possessed her own method of resisting it, but Lin Moyu had no interest in finding out.
After they continued for some time, countless points of light suddenly appeared ahead.
Within moments, they flooded the entire passage, rapidly expanding as they surged toward the pair.
Like a barrage of heavy fists, the lights hurtled at them with crushing force.
