So, Ji Shengyue had always thought Chu He was just a show-off, a fraud who didn’t live up to his reputation.

Later, she used all sorts of methods to pressure Chu He, continuously stripping his control over the Defense Team, suppressing his influence, and even publicly questioning his achievements throughout the entire Empire.

In the end, filled with disappointment and anger, Chu He left the Great Jing Empire for good.

After leaving, Chu He became the National Guardian War God of the vast, neighboring Great Xia Empire.

In the Great Xia Empire, Chu He once again demonstrated his exceptional talent and formidable strength. He helped the Great Xia Empire fend off one foreign invasion after another, allowing the nation to grow increasingly prosperous under his protection.

Meanwhile, the Great Jing Empire, having lost Chu He’s protection, found itself increasingly overwhelmed when facing various crises. A subsequent series of events all proved that Ji Shengyue’s initial judgment had been completely and utterly wrong.

Now, the Great Jing Empire was facing an unprecedented crisis. Deep down, Ji Shengyue was filled with regret, but it was already too late.

She knew full well that the Great Jing Empire’s current situation was hopeless, as the empire simply lacked the true strength to withstand the coming storm.

Just as she was lost in thought, one of her subordinates came rushing over to report. The man’s face was a mask of panic, and his voice trembled as he said, "Your Majesty, a large horde of Vampires has appeared on the border of the Great Jing Empire! They’re the same monsters who assimilated the entire White-Red Empire and turned it into a living Hell! And now... their army is coming for the Great Jing Empire!"

The news was like a bolt from the blue, instantly plunging the entire office into a dead silence.

Everyone was stunned, their faces etched with expressions of terror and despair.

Ji Shengyue’s face turned pale, and her hands gripped the armrests of her chair tightly.

The Great Jing Empire’s calamity had arrived, and she was powerless to stop it.

"How could this be..." Ji Shengyue murmured, her voice filled with despair and helplessness.

"Your Majesty, what should we do?"

an advisor asked anxiously.

"What else can we do? We’re no match for these Vampires!"

another advisor cried out in despair.

...

On the borders of the Great Jing Empire, the Defense Team had urgently assembled.

Dressed in uniform and armed with weapons, they were arranged in neat formations along the border.

However, their faces were devoid of any fighting spirit. The eyes of every Defense Team member revealed a deep-seated fear and despair.

They knew they were no match for this horde of Vampires.

The figures of the Vampires flickered in and out of sight in the distance. They were incredibly fast, surging toward the Great Jing Empire’s border like a black tide.

As the Vampires drew closer, a thick stench of blood and an evil aura washed over the Defense Team members, making them feel as if they were suffocating.

Suddenly, the figure of Ye Lingyun, the Vampire Clan’s Clan Leader, abruptly appeared before the members of the Defense Team.

She wore a long black dress, its hem fluttering gently in the night wind like a phantom in the night sky.

Her face, illuminated by the moonlight, was exceptionally pale, without a trace of color. Yet her eyes glittered with a cold, profound light, as if they could see through everything in the world.

"There’s no need to struggle," Ye Lingyun said, her voice cold and calm, devoid of any warmth. "Chu He sent us Vampires here.

The goal is to turn the Great Jing Empire into a forward defense base."

Hearing Chu He’s name, the members of the Defense Team fell even deeper into despair.

Their bodies began to tremble, and the weapons in their hands fell from their grasp.

They remembered Chu He’s former renown in the Great Jing Empire and knew his power was unfathomable.

And now, that same Chu He had actually sent Vampires to attack the Great Jing Empire. The thought filled them with utter terror and despair.

"No, this can’t be..."

a young member of the Defense Team murmured, his eyes filling with tears and his voice trembling with fear and despair. "How could Lord Chu He do this? He was once our National Guardian War God!"

"What are we supposed to do?"

Another member of the Defense Team asked, his face a picture of helplessness and confusion, "Are we just supposed to sit here and wait to be killed?"

For a moment, the members of the Defense Team were thrown into chaos and despair.

They looked at Ye Lingyun before them, their hearts filled with fear, yet utterly powerless.

Under the pressure of Ye Lingyun’s powerful aura and the Vampire army, their will began to crumble.

Finally, one member of the Defense Team was the first to drop to his knees, his face filled with terror and supplication. "We surrender! Please, don’t kill us..."

Following that man’s lead, the other members of the Defense Team quickly followed suit. One by one, they knelt on the ground, begging Ye Lingyun for mercy.

’They stood no chance against the powerful Vampires. Rather than resist, it was better to beg for mercy; perhaps they could save their own lives.’

Ye Lingyun watched the kneeling members of the Defense Team, the corners of her mouth turning up slightly in a barely perceptible, cold smirk.

Her eyes were filled with contempt and ridicule, as if she were looking at a swarm of insignificant ants.

’In her eyes, the resistance of these Defense Team members was laughable. Their fates had long since been sealed.’

"Very good," Ye Lingyun said coldly. "From now on, the Great Jing Empire will be our territory.

You will obey our commands. Otherwise, you will bear the consequences."
