Sarutobi Hiruzen stood up and looked out the window at Konohagakure. His gaze was sharp, as if he could see Sunagakure from thousands of miles away. After a moment of silence, he spoke in a deep voice.

At this time, Sarutobi Hiruzen was not the hesitant man he would later become. In his prime, he feared no provocation from any village.

"Understood. There’s one more thing—regarding the candidate for the new Nine-Tails Jinchuriki..."

"Drop that thought. Kushina is the successor chosen by Madam Mito."

Before Danzo Shimura could finish, Sarutobi Hiruzen directly cut off what he was about to say next.

After knocking out her foolish younger brother, Tsunade looked at Uchiha Xuan with a complex expression. Her eyes held self-blame, gratitude, and other emotions.

"My early graduation has nothing to do with you. It’s just that the clan elders felt I should experience what war truly means. As for why I was placed in the same team as him, you’ll have to ask the one sitting in the Hokage’s office."

Uchiha Xuan glanced indifferently at the peacefully unconscious idiot Nawaki lying on the ground and spoke softly.
