Chapter 610: The Idea of Mass-Producing Kaguya

What could block communication signals such as radio waves?

Many thick concrete walls could weaken them, but Kenichi found metal far more convenient.

Concrete usually needed considerable thickness to effectively obstruct radio signals, while metal could achieve a similar effect with much less material.

Blocking a waveband was not particularly mysterious knowledge.

For example, in Kenichi’s previous life, the farther someone moved from their home Wi-Fi router, and the more walls stood between them and the signal source, the weaker the connection became.

That was essentially the same principle.

Radio signals propagated through electromagnetic waves, and physical obstacles interfered with their transmission, causing the signal to weaken.

"Amado, have you made any progress?"

Kenichi stared at the manifestation of Kaguya’s consciousness in front of him.

"My situation here isn’t looking very good."

Kaguya’s consciousness fragment was struggling violently.

The intensity of its resistance had grown considerably.

Kenichi was beginning to worry that something unexpected might happen if the struggle continued at this level.

Worse, the containment vessel itself was showing signs of strain.

It was beginning to reach its limits.

That confirmed something else for Kenichi.

After he had changed the body used in Kaguya’s implanted memories so that it matched Kaguya’s actual appearance much more closely, the experiences had become far more convincing to her.

At the same time, her resistance had become much stronger.

That was both good and bad.

The good part was obvious.

This method clearly affected Kaguya far more deeply.

If her resistance continued being worn down under increasingly realistic memories, perhaps her consciousness would eventually reach its limit.

That could allow Kenichi to gain at least a basic level of trust from Kaguya more quickly.

From Kenichi’s perspective, that would be extremely useful.

The bad part was equally obvious.

If Kaguya never submitted to the conditioning...

Then the consequences would be extremely troublesome.

Once she was released, she might attack him with everything she had.

And considering the nature of the memories Kenichi had forced her consciousness to experience...

The situation could become incredibly awkward.

"My shielding experiment here might not be..."

Amado’s distorted voice came through the communicator.

Then he suddenly exclaimed.

"Oh, damn it!"

Kenichi frowned.

Amado’s tone changed from hurried concentration to outright shock.

"How did this happen?"

"This is incredible."

"I never expected something like this."

"Kenichi, something happened on my side."

"Can you stop what you’re doing for a moment?"

"I need you to come over immediately."

Kenichi blinked.

What exactly had happened to make Amado react like that?

He looked toward the consciousness containment vessel.

After hesitating briefly, Kenichi decided not to stop the experiment.

Instead, he placed the entire vessel inside a stronger secondary containment unit.

Then he created a Shadow Clone and left it behind to monitor everything.

Only after ensuring the consciousness fragment remained contained did Kenichi hurry away.

...

"Amado, what happened?"

Kenichi rushed into Amado’s laboratory.

The moment he entered, his expression changed.

The laboratory was in terrible condition.

Several glass cultivation containers had shattered.

Fragments covered the floor.

Among them were strange patches of pinkish dust.

Kenichi frowned.

What exactly had happened here?

Why did the place look as though an accident had occurred?

Then he noticed someone standing in front of Amado.

A girl.

She was completely enclosed inside a thick metal containment structure.

Kenichi could only see her because the outer shell included a glass observation window.

And the girl inside...

Was Kaguya.

Or rather, a younger version of Kaguya who had developed somewhat further than before.

If he had to describe her current state, she looked like a young adolescent girl.

At that moment, the Kaguya clone tilted her head and looked directly at Kenichi.

Kenichi’s heart skipped.

For a brief instant, he actually panicked.

Had Kaguya somehow already escaped her seal through this clone?

That should have been impossible.

Kenichi immediately examined her eyes.

The clone had opened them.

They were white.

Byakugan.

There was no Rinne Sharingan on her forehead.

No sign of Kaguya’s complete power.

That immediately told Kenichi that the situation was not what he had first feared.

This Kaguya clone was clearly in an unusual state.

"Amado."

Kenichi looked at him in surprise.

"What happened?"

"How is this clone already standing?"

The clone continued tilting her head as she observed him.

Her expression showed curiosity and confusion.

There was no obvious hostility.

That made Kenichi even more certain.

This was not Kaguya’s original consciousness taking control.

This clone was something new.

A separate Kaguya who had not inherited the memories of the original.

That made Kenichi even more curious.

What exactly had caused this transformation?

"It’s somewhat complicated."

Amado’s excitement had not faded.

"But the general process was this."

"I isolated the clone inside the metal enclosure."

"After the shielding was completed, I noticed that her body suddenly stopped trembling."

"Then she opened her eyes."

"And she simply stood there and looked at me."

Amado gestured toward the containment chamber.

"That alone surprised me."

"But immediately afterward, her body rapidly accelerated its growth."

His expression became almost incredulous.

"Can you imagine it?"

"In approximately three to five seconds, she changed from that little child into what you’re seeing now."

"It happened almost instantly."

Kenichi stared at the clone.

Indeed.

Previously, she had looked around five or six years old.

Now her apparent age had jumped to roughly twelve or thirteen.

And that entire developmental change had occurred within only a few seconds.

Even Kenichi had to admit that was astonishing.

Normally, biological growth was gradual.

Cells divided.

Organs matured.

Bones lengthened.

Hormonal systems changed.

Development required time.

Kaguya was obviously not human.

But based on Kenichi’s earlier research, the natural growth rate of her clone had still been relatively close to that of ordinary humans.

Yet after the shielding device was activated...

The clone had advanced through years of physical development within seconds.

Kenichi could not immediately explain it.

"What do you think caused it?"

Kenichi asked.

He had not been present during the experiment.

Amado had.

That meant Amado’s observations were far more valuable.

"That’s difficult to answer."

Amado looked at the monitoring equipment.

"The moment the isolation was completed, her body underwent this rapid development."

"But after reaching this stage, the growth stopped."

"There hasn’t been any further accelerated aging."

He tapped several controls and examined the readings again.

"That’s different from our previous accelerated clones."

"Those clones suffered continuous instability and rapid deterioration."

"This one should theoretically possess the same flaws."

Amado frowned.

"But she doesn’t."

He continued studying what he had labeled Clone Three.

No matter how many times he checked the instruments, he found no immediate explanation.

Kenichi stepped closer.

"Let me look."

He examined the readings carefully.

"Her brainwaves are active now."

"That wasn’t the case before."

He continued analyzing the data.

"Other physiological indicators haven’t changed dramatically."

Kenichi fell into thought.

Then a possibility occurred to him.

"I think the shielding may have changed her from the collective state we suspected earlier into an independent state."

That would fit the evidence.

Before the shielding, the clone had been somehow linked to Kaguya’s main consciousness.

It reacted whenever Kaguya’s extracted consciousness fragment was stimulated.

But now...

The metal shielding had cut off that connection.

And immediately after the link disappeared, the clone awakened.

It developed independent brain activity.

Its body also underwent a sudden developmental shift.

The biggest variable between the two states was obvious.

The isolation device.

That made it reasonable to conclude that the clone’s current condition was directly connected to the loss of Kaguya’s shared consciousness influence.

"So if we remove the shielding now..."

Amado’s eyes lit up with excitement.

"Would Kaguya’s original consciousness reconnect with the clone?"

Kenichi’s mouth twitched.

He looked at Amado as though the man had just suggested setting the entire laboratory on fire.

"Have you considered what happens if we remove the shielding and Kaguya’s consciousness immediately revives through this body?"

Amado went silent.

Kenichi continued irritably.

"If that happens, what exactly are you planning to do?"

He understood Amado’s excitement.

Kenichi himself wanted to test the possibility.

Scientifically, it was fascinating.

Practically...

It was suicidal.

If Kaguya escaped her seal through the clone right now, Kenichi had very little doubt about who she would attack first.

And Kenichi knew exactly why.

Considering everything he had done to her consciousness fragment...

He probably ranked very high on Kaguya’s list of people she wanted to kill.

Amado said nothing.

Clearly, he understood the problem.

Kenichi rubbed his forehead.

He could not blame Amado for being curious, but there were some experiments that were simply too dangerous to perform casually.

"There’s no need to rush."

Kenichi sighed.

"At the very least, we’ve confirmed something extremely important."

"Kaguya’s connection with her clones appears to rely on some form of wave transmission."

"That discovery alone is already valuable."

Amado nodded reluctantly.

Kenichi was being sincere.

At first glance, the discovery might not seem immediately useful.

But its implications were enormous.

If Kenichi could fully understand how the connection worked...

Then perhaps he could mass-produce independent Kaguya clones.

And if he could mass-produce them...

They could become extraordinarily powerful combat assets.

After all, Kaguya was still an Otsutsuki.

Compared with ordinary humans in the Shinobi World, her biological potential was vastly greater.

Her body, chakra potential, bloodline, and overall developmental ceiling were all on another level.

If clones could be created and trained independently, Kenichi could potentially use them as elite expendable forces against future Otsutsuki enemies.

The thought immediately excited him.

"As long as I can mass-produce Kaguya clones, control their minds, and let them awaken the innate abilities of the Otsutsuki Clan..."

Kenichi stared through the observation window.

"Then even if the Otsutsuki Clan eventually arrives, I won’t have to be nearly as afraid."

The question of how to deal with the future Otsutsuki Clan had troubled him for a long time.

But this discovery suggested an entirely different direction.

If he could reproduce Kaguya...

Could he reproduce other Otsutsuki as well?

Could he eventually manufacture an entire force composed of high-potential Otsutsuki soldiers?

Instead of relying on ordinary shinobi as cannon fodder, he could cultivate far stronger units specifically designed for high-level battles.

The possibilities were enormous.

And so...

The repeated experiments began.

Kenichi and Amado performed the process again and again.

Gradually, they identified a pattern.

The rapidly developing Kaguya clones possessed unique requirements.

First, the clone had to be cultivated in an extremely low-temperature environment.

That slowed the instability responsible for rapid growth, accelerated aging, and genetic collapse.

Then Kaguya’s shared consciousness connection needed to be stimulated.

Once the clone began reacting to the stimulation...

The metal shielding system had to be activated.

After the wave connection was blocked, the influence of Kaguya’s main consciousness disappeared.

And comparatively speaking, the clone gained a form of independence.

At least, that was what their results suggested.

Even after confirming this, however, Kenichi still refused to release any of the clones from containment.

There were too many unknowns.

He had no intention of discovering some catastrophic hidden problem only after allowing one of them to walk freely around the laboratory.

"Kenichi."

A familiar voice suddenly came from behind him.

Hagoromo approached hurriedly.

"How are your preparations?"

Kenichi turned toward the Sage of Six Paths.

"Your plan is about to begin."

Kenichi froze for a moment.

Then he realized how much time had passed.

He had become so absorbed in the experiments that he had almost lost track of the schedule.

The agreed date was approaching.

Soon...

The preparations would end.

And Kenichi would finally face the decisive battle against Isshiki Otsutsuki.
