Chapter 608: Kenichi Amamiya Is Tired, Let It All Be Destroyed

"Frankly speaking, lately I’ve started wondering whether I’m going to die."

Inside one of Konoha’s barbecue restaurants, Sasuke lay weakly against his chair and spoke in a lifeless voice.

Naruto was slumped beside him in almost exactly the same condition.

Hinata quietly grilled meat for the two of them, occasionally glancing toward Naruto.

She had not been subjected to the same brutal training regimen as Naruto and Sasuke.

However, Minato and Kushina often gave their future daughter-in-law special lessons, so Hinata’s strength had also improved considerably.

Still, what interested Hinata most was something Kenichi had told her before.

An experiment.

One that could make her strength skyrocket.

"My teachers suddenly got way stricter for some reason."

Naruto stared blankly at the ceiling.

"I seriously feel like I’m about to ascend to heaven."

"And after all that training, I still have to go home and practice coordinated techniques with Kurama every day."

Naruto looked completely drained.

He genuinely did not understand what had happened.

He had already been training seriously.

Then, without warning, his teachers decided that he was not working hard enough.

What followed was a hellish training regimen so brutal that even Naruto, who had always been cheerful and optimistic, could barely smile anymore.

And it was not ending anytime soon.

Just thinking about how long this training would continue made Naruto and Sasuke feel as though all the color had been drained from their lives.

However...

Whenever they remembered Kenichi’s expectations for them, both boys recovered a little motivation.

For Naruto and Sasuke, Kenichi occupied an extremely special place in their lives.

Without him, both of their lives might have followed completely different paths.

Naruto’s parents would still be gone.

Sasuke’s family would still be shattered.

Their circumstances had changed because of Kenichi.

Because of that, both Naruto and Sasuke cared deeply about his expectations.

Neither wanted to disappoint him.

"But Naruto..."

Sasuke took a deep breath and forced himself upright.

"Do you feel like you’ve gotten stronger?"

Naruto fell silent.

Then he clenched his arm.

Chakra surged.

A Tailed Beast Chakra Cloak flickered over his body.

Naruto looked at it for a moment.

Then he nodded seriously.

"Yeah."

The training was brutal.

But the results were equally enormous.

Compared with their previous selves, both Naruto and Sasuke had undergone something close to a complete transformation.

Naruto understood what Sasuke meant.

If all this suffering truly made them stronger...

Then why stop?

They could keep going.

...

Meanwhile, the person Naruto and Sasuke were thinking about was standing inside his laboratory, staring thoughtfully at the materials in front of him.

After an enormous amount of work with his Shadow Clones, Kenichi had finally identified the atomic structures of many of the substances he had collected.

Unfortunately...

Finding their structures did not mean his problem was solved.

Kenichi rubbed his forehead.

Most of the atomic configurations he had cataloged were useless for what he actually needed.

He had hoped that somewhere among the countless materials gathered throughout the Shinobi World, he would discover something structurally similar to the mysterious components of the time machine’s energy source.

So far...

Nothing matched closely enough.

Even with hundreds of Shadow Clones using his ocular abilities simultaneously, searching through so many substances was still extremely difficult.

The time machine’s energy source possessed a bizarre atomic composition.

Finding an ordinary material that could serve as a suitable foundation for modification was nowhere near as simple as Kenichi had hoped.

Just thinking about it made his scalp tingle.

Unfortunately, there was no shortcut.

He could only proceed step by step.

Still, the work had not been completely wasted.

At the very least, Kenichi had confirmed that his earlier idea was feasible.

By analyzing basic substances such as soil, iron, and various other common materials, he had already stored their atomic structures.

Now, when his eyes encountered those materials again, he could identify them far faster than before.

And after identifying them...

He could attempt to deconstruct them directly.

That alone made Kenichi quite satisfied.

If he continued expanding his database, eventually he might be able to identify most of the common substances in his surroundings almost instantly.

At that point, a single glance from him could potentially alter an entire battlefield.

"Kenichi!"

Amado suddenly rushed into the laboratory.

"How is your research progressing?"

Then he smiled.

"I’ve made an interesting discovery."

"Want to see it?"

Kenichi looked toward him.

Amado seemed unusually excited.

That immediately caught Kenichi’s attention.

He nodded and followed him outside.

"I found something very strange."

Amado continued walking.

"I think you need to see it personally."

"I’ve conducted countless experiments, but this is the first time I’ve encountered something like this."

The excitement in Amado’s voice only made Kenichi more curious.

What exactly had he discovered?

After following Amado for a while, Kenichi realized where they were going.

The cloning laboratory.

His eyes narrowed slightly.

Something involving cloning?

That immediately narrowed the possibilities.

There was only one particularly important subject inside that laboratory.

Kaguya’s clone.

Kenichi and Amado had already conducted several experiments involving clones created from Kaguya’s genetic material.

The earlier accelerated-growth experiments had all ended badly.

Whenever the clone grew too quickly, abnormalities appeared in its genetic structure.

The body then began breaking down on its own, eventually leading to catastrophic genetic collapse.

Because of that, Kenichi had concluded that Kaguya’s clone might only be capable of developing naturally and slowly.

He had therefore suspended further experiments involving rapid growth.

If the clone was developing naturally...

Then it should still be extremely small.

"Did something happen to Kaguya’s clone?"

Kenichi looked toward Amado.

Amado responded with a meaningful smile.

That expression only made Kenichi more curious.

Something had definitely happened.

"Actually, you guessed correctly."

Amado looked increasingly excited.

"This discovery really does involve the clone."

"Remember how we previously discovered that accelerated growth caused Kaguya’s genetic structure to collapse?"

Kenichi nodded.

Of course he remembered.

That problem had ruined every accelerated clone they had produced.

"I found something interesting."

Amado seemed about to explain.

Then he stopped himself.

"No."

"Forget the explanation."

"You should see it yourself."

He rubbed his hands excitedly.

Kenichi said nothing and continued following him.

Amado opened the laboratory door.

Kenichi looked inside.

Then he froze.

Within the cultivation chamber floated Kaguya’s clone.

But she was no longer a tiny embryo.

She had already developed into the appearance of a young girl.

Kenichi stared at her in surprise.

Their previous clones had never survived long enough to reach anything close to this developmental stage.

Yet this one had clearly continued growing.

How had Amado done it?

"Her genetic structure used to collapse during accelerated growth, right?"

Amado immediately began explaining.

"After studying those failures, I discovered something interesting."

"Kaguya’s genetic structure appears to possess a peculiar instability."

"Under certain conditions, parts of it begin breaking down on their own."

"But then I tried changing the environment."

He pointed toward the cultivation system.

"If Kaguya’s clone is maintained at an extremely low temperature, the rate of that self-disintegration decreases."

Kenichi fell into thought.

He genuinely had not considered that approach.

It had seemed too strange to even test.

But Amado had succeeded.

The young clone floating in front of them was undeniable evidence.

Perhaps Kaguya’s natural developmental environment required unusually low temperatures.

Or perhaps her genes simply became less active at lower temperatures.

Another possibility was even more interesting.

Perhaps the genetic modifications caused by the chakra fruit of the Divine Tree behaved differently under extreme cold.

Kenichi could not yet determine which explanation was correct.

Kaguya’s genome was simply too unusual.

She did not merely possess ordinary Otsutsuki genetics.

Her body had also undergone dramatic alterations after consuming the chakra fruit.

Untangling those two layers of genetic information was already complicated enough.

Determining how environmental conditions interacted with them would be even more troublesome.

"Did you discover anything else?"

Kenichi looked toward Amado.

If temperature sensitivity were the only discovery, it was certainly important.

But knowing Amado, that alone probably would not have made him this excited.

There had to be something else.

"Actually, yes."

Amado’s expression became strange.

"This clone has displayed another unusual phenomenon."

"Sometimes, she suddenly shows extremely intense physiological and emotional reactions."

Kenichi frowned.

That was unexpected.

Normally, clones inside the cultivation equipment did not possess active consciousness.

The apparatus suppressed their higher mental activity during development.

Only after they were released would consciousness fully awaken and allow them to behave like ordinary living beings.

But according to Amado...

This clone was already reacting to something.

"What kind of reaction could surprise even you?"

Kenichi asked.

Amado chuckled.

"Recently, the clone has repeatedly entered strange states."

"The reactions resemble someone experiencing intense emotional stimulation."

"Her facial expression changes, her body responds noticeably, and the readings from the monitoring equipment fluctuate sharply."

He looked toward the cultivation chamber.

"That shouldn’t be happening."

"She has been confined inside this equipment the entire time."

"Logically, there should be nothing capable of producing reactions this strong."

Kenichi nodded slowly.

Amado was right.

This was extremely unusual.

Then...

Kenichi froze.

A thought suddenly appeared in his mind.

Kaguya.

More specifically...

The fragment of Kaguya’s consciousness.

His expression gradually changed.

Kaguya’s situation was already unusual.

What if the experiences being forced upon her consciousness fragment were somehow affecting genetically identical bodies?

Or worse...

What if those sensations were reaching Kaguya’s original consciousness as well?

The thought sent a chill through Kenichi.

Could the original Kaguya actually sense what her fragment had been experiencing?

His scalp immediately began to tingle.

If that possibility were true...

Then this was a serious problem.

A very serious problem.

Because if Kaguya’s original consciousness could feel everything that fragment had endured...

Then once Kaguya was released, her first target might not be Isshiki.

It might be Kenichi.

He suddenly remembered every experiment he had performed on that consciousness fragment.

Every implanted memory.

Every artificial emotional experience.

Every carefully constructed scenario intended to condition her perception of him.

Kenichi swallowed.

"Amado."

His voice became unusually serious.

"What exactly happens when the clone reacts?"

He needed details.

This was crucial.

He had to compare the timing and nature of the clone’s reactions with his experiments on Kaguya’s consciousness fragment.

If the two matched...

Then his suspicion would become much more likely.

And if they matched too perfectly...

Kenichi would have to seriously reconsider what he planned to do next.

But before Amado could even answer, Kenichi remembered everything he had already done to Kaguya’s consciousness during this period.

His expression slowly became lifeless.

"Heh..."

Kenichi stared into the distance.

"Forget it."

"Let it all be destroyed."
