Chapter 596: Cloning Kaguya Otsutsuki

"Her genetic chain is actually 2.35 times longer than that of an ordinary human."

Kenichi looked at the data in his hand with clear surprise.

"This is honestly ridiculous."

After he and Amado completed the sequencing of Kaguya’s genes, Kenichi discovered that the amount of genetic information contained within her body was roughly 2.35 times that of a normal human.

In other words, the genetic information carried by a single Kaguya was roughly equivalent to the combined amount found in more than two ordinary adults.

That alone showed just how abnormal her biology was.

"Some of the genes are even stranger."

Amado examined the results with a complicated expression.

"I recognize several sequences here."

"They look like plant genes."

He turned toward Kenichi.

"Are you sure the owner of this blood is actually a living person?"

"If you hadn’t told me otherwise, I might have thought I was examining some kind of vegetable."

The sheer quantity of genetic information no longer surprised Amado.

He had already noticed that earlier.

What truly shocked him now was the presence of genetic sequences that appeared to belong to plants.

For an ordinary human, something like that should never exist.

Yet in the blood sample taken from Kaguya, Amado had clearly detected genetic information resembling plant biology.

It was so abnormal that, if he had not personally conducted the analysis, he might have suspected that the sample had been contaminated during testing.

Instead of discouraging him, however, the discovery only made Amado more excited.

For a scientist like him, few things were more fascinating than encountering something that completely overturned existing biological knowledge.

"To a certain extent, you really can think of her as part plant."

Kenichi answered calmly.

"Or rather, this may simply be one direction their species evolved toward."

"Understanding it that way is probably close enough."

Kenichi had already theorized that the Otsutsuki Clan had undergone extensive evolutionary adaptation for long periods of interstellar travel.

Their metabolic rate was extremely slow.

That lower metabolism naturally contributed to their extraordinary lifespans.

Their bodies were also fundamentally different from ordinary humans.

And after Kaguya consumed the chakra fruit of the Divine Tree, her body underwent an even more drastic transformation.

An ordinary human exposed to the conditions of outer space for that long would have died almost immediately.

Kaguya, however, had been completely unaffected.

That alone demonstrated how extensively Otsutsuki genetics had been adapted and modified.

"So they’re biologically superior life forms?"

Amado immediately understood part of what Kenichi meant.

"Alien organisms that evolved beyond humans?"

Kenichi nodded.

He did not particularly enjoy admitting it, but in biological terms, the Otsutsuki Clan was indeed superior to most people in the Shinobi World.

Their life forms were simply more advanced.

In fact, if the Otsutsuki had never come to this world, the entire history of the Shinobi World might have developed in a completely different direction.

After all, chakra had only become widespread after the arrival of the Otsutsuki and the appearance of the Divine Tree, followed by Hagoromo spreading the principles of chakra among humanity.

Without that outside intervention, the current Shinobi World might still have been trapped in a feudal society based around small farming communities.

"That’s incredible."

Amado sighed in admiration.

He had no reason to suspect Kenichi was lying.

Lying about something this important would serve no purpose.

Worse, false information could directly compromise their research results.

Amado understood that perfectly well.

Meanwhile, Kenichi continued staring at the blood sample and the enormous amount of genetic data they had extracted.

Originally, he had wanted to reverse-engineer the effects of the chakra fruit by studying Kaguya’s genes.

But now, faced with this overwhelming mass of information, Kenichi found himself staring blankly at the screen.

There were simply too many genes.

Attempting to analyze all of them in reverse would be extremely troublesome.

He genuinely did not know whether he would be able to completely decipher them.

Still, he had to try.

If he never attempted it, then he would never know whether success was possible.

And if he succeeded, naturally, that would be ideal.

If he failed...

That was also acceptable.

After all, if the chakra fruit were something that could be easily reproduced through genetic analysis, then the Otsutsuki Clan would never need to travel across the universe planting Divine Trees.

They could simply manufacture chakra fruits themselves and mass-produce stronger clansmen.

Thinking of this, Kenichi temporarily formed a hand seal.

A Shadow Clone appeared beside him.

He sent the clone away to handle another project.

The Mangekyo Sharingan army.

Kenichi intended to mass-produce shinobi capable of using Mangekyo Sharingan, then use them as expendable combatants to wear Isshiki down.

The strategy might not necessarily work.

But Mangekyo abilities were notoriously bizarre and varied.

If enough different dojutsu were repeatedly used against Isshiki, at least some of them should force him to react.

That alone would increase the odds of victory for Kenichi and the others.

Kenichi doubted Hagoromo or the other leaders would object to such a plan.

As for who would receive the Mangekyo...

Naturally, the best candidates were already capable shinobi.

Preferably jonin.

Only shinobi with sufficient physical ability, chakra reserves, and combat experience could bring out the full value of the Mangekyo Sharingan.

Giving those eyes to weaker ninja would accomplish little.

Mangekyo dojutsu consumed an enormous amount of chakra and physical stamina.

A weak ninja might possess powerful eyes but be incapable of using them more than a handful of times.

"If we want to properly research this problem, then the first thing we need to do is categorize and analyze these genes."

Kenichi looked at the enormous sequence of data seriously.

"At the very least, we need to determine what each genetic segment actually does."

His plan was straightforward.

First, completely analyze Kaguya’s genome.

Then compare it with ordinary humans and other Otsutsuki genetic samples.

From there, identify exactly which portions were unique to Kaguya.

After that, determine the biological functions of those additional genes.

Only by reaching that stage could Kenichi form a meaningful conclusion about what the chakra fruit had done to her.

And once he understood Kaguya’s genetic structure well enough...

He could attempt something else.

Cloning her.

The thought caused Kenichi’s eyes to light up.

Since he already possessed Kaguya’s complete genetic information, could he use that data to produce a clone?

And if the clone succeeded...

Would it possess Kaguya’s strength?

If so...

Could he mass-produce Kaguya Otsutsuki?

The idea immediately excited him.

At least theoretically, it had some degree of feasibility.

But then Kenichi frowned.

If something like this were really possible, why had the Otsutsuki Clan never done it?

They possessed bodies capable of crossing the universe.

They had even created time machines.

Kenichi found it difficult to believe that a civilization capable of such achievements would lack cloning technology.

But...

What if they actually did?

What if cloning simply happened to be one of the technologies the Otsutsuki had never developed?

Their technology tree was already strange enough.

Perhaps it was not completely impossible.

Thinking of that possibility made Kenichi even more interested.

For him, cloning Kaguya was not particularly difficult.

He had already solved the problem of accelerated growth.

That meant he could simply invest some time into producing an embryo and placing it inside one of his growth chambers.

Once that was done, the clone would develop on its own.

If the experiment succeeded, the benefits would be enormous.

And if it failed...

Kenichi would lose very little.

"Amado."

Kenichi turned toward him excitedly.

"What do you think would happen if we used this blood to create a clone?"

"Then accelerated its development inside one of our growth chambers?"

Amado immediately understood what Kenichi was suggesting.

The owner of this blood was an extraordinarily powerful and biologically advanced alien life form.

If they could clone her...

Then perhaps they could obtain more beings with those same exceptional characteristics.

The thought made Amado visibly excited.

But alongside that excitement came concern.

"I’m not opposed to trying."

He frowned.

"But is there any chance the clone could get out of control?"

Kenichi fell silent.

That was indeed worth considering.

Kaguya’s abilities were highly unusual.

Even Hagoromo still refused to casually release her from the seal, although Kenichi suspected that Hagoromo probably had methods prepared to seal her again if necessary.

Therefore, they could not completely rule out a dangerous possibility.

What if Kaguya could sense the existence of her clone?

What if she somehow transferred her consciousness into the clone and used it to achieve a perfect resurrection?

Still...

Kenichi believed the probability was relatively low.

Unless clones shared some kind of hive mind, there was normally no automatic connection between the original organism and its copies.

Kenichi had already confirmed this through numerous cloning experiments.

"Personally, I don’t think the probability is very high."

Kenichi considered it for a moment.

"But just in case, we’ll put several safeguards in place before beginning."

He still intended to continue.

The potential rewards were simply too large to ignore.

The chance of Kaguya using the clone as a perfect resurrection vessel seemed extremely small.

And even if she somehow did manage to resurrect through it...

Kenichi did not think that would necessarily become an immediate disaster.

Whatever conflicts might exist between him and Kaguya, the person Kaguya truly wanted dead was still Isshiki.

As long as Isshiki remained alive, Kaguya would never feel safe.

He was the greatest threat to her existence.

If Kaguya truly resurrected, there was a very good chance the first person she would hunt down would be Isshiki.

As long as Isshiki remained alive, Kaguya probably would not even be able to sleep peacefully.

He was the definition of a thorn in her side.

"Fine."

Amado finally nodded.

"If you insist, then we’ll conduct the experiment."

He could not deny that he agreed with Kenichi’s reasoning.

The plan was bold.

Dangerously bold.

But if it succeeded, the potential gains were equally enormous.

That was ultimately why Amado agreed.

He immediately began preparing defensive systems around the cloning laboratory to prevent unexpected problems.

For additional safety, Kenichi also moved Kaguya’s consciousness fragment to another laboratory.

He did not want it anywhere near the cloning process.

While transferring the container, Kenichi paid particular attention to the fragment’s behavior.

After some time had passed, Kaguya’s consciousness seemed to have gradually stopped resisting as fiercely.

At the very least, it no longer thrashed with the same intensity as before.

Kenichi looked at the container with amusement.

"I’m actually curious."

"If I released you right now, would you call me ’darling’..."

"Or would you immediately try to kill me?"

He chuckled.

But he had no intention of finding out yet.

Kenichi carried the consciousness fragment into another laboratory and securely stored it there.

The upcoming cloning experiment required the highest possible level of secrecy and safety.

He did not want even the smallest accident.

Once everything had been arranged, Kenichi entered the cloning laboratory.

For once, his expression was tense.

This experiment was different from the others.

They were about to attempt to clone Kaguya Otsutsuki.

"Ready?"

Amado asked quietly.

He had performed many cloning experiments before.

He had even created numerous clones based on his own daughter, Akebi.

Yet despite all that experience, this experiment still made him nervous.

The subject this time was not an ordinary human.

It was an alien being powerful enough to stand near the top of the Shinobi World.

Kenichi nodded.

"All defensive measures are ready."

Unless Hagoromo himself, or another powerhouse of comparable strength, forcibly broke into the laboratory, Kenichi was confident he could stop anyone who tried to interfere.

Everything that could reasonably be prepared had already been prepared.

He looked toward the equipment.

Then toward Amado.

"Let’s begin."

The cloning experiment for Kaguya Otsutsuki officially started.
