Mystic Calling:Stone of Glory
Chapter 1393: Now It Rains Light
Inside the control room, Ferrick paced back and forth.
It wasn’t the arrow that worried him.
What unsettled him was that he had exposed his ability.
Changing the ownership of Kaelira’s energy sphere right in front of Ethan and the others was enough to prove how dangerous that power could be. Now that they had seen it, they would take precautions against it.
That was the last thing Ferrick wanted.
"Korrick! Merrin!"
He stopped and turned to his two most trusted subordinates.
"Hit them with everything we’ve got, then initiate a jump. Understood?"
Korrick and Merrin looked confused, but neither questioned their lord’s command. They returned to their stations and calmly began preparing for the withdrawal.
Outside, Ethan had regained control of the energy sphere he had thrown earlier.
With the threat from the pale blue sphere gone, he redirected his white sphere toward the mechanical pyramid.
If they could turn Kaelira’s attack against them, he could borrow the same idea.
How would the mechanical pyramid respond?
The outer guns and laser cannons were still firing.
Seraphine’s death arrow tore through the barrage and slammed into the spatial shield. Primordial Death Energy spread from its tip, the black power eating into the surrounding space.
The spatial shield activated at once.
Space around the arrow warped, forcibly teleporting the entire weapon into the distance.
The black light vanished.
But before Ferrick and the others could relax, the arrow reappeared in front of the mechanical pyramid and struck the exact same spot at even greater speed.
The spatial shield activated again, sending it away.
The arrow returned a second time.
Then a third.
With every impact, the Primordial Death Energy around the arrow grew more violent. The spatial shield teleported it farther and farther away, yet the arrow took less and less time to return.
Even the stabilized space began to fail.
Fine black fractures spread from the point of impact, and the space surrounding the mechanical pyramid visibly trembled.
Seraphine watched her death arrow the entire time.
After a moment, a thoughtful look entered her eyes. She raised her longbow again and drew back the string.
This time, no black arrow wrapped in death energy appeared.
Dense Light Force gathered along her fingers, taking the shape of a platinum-white arrow. Its shaft shone with pure, brilliant light, pushing the remnants of the dark clouds away on either side.
Seraphine didn’t aim at the mechanical pyramid.
She slowly raised the arrowhead toward the sky above.
The others were still focused on the repeated clashes between the pyramid and the death arrow.
Ethan, however, had quietly moved beside the four little girls.
He crouched and looked at Auri with a serious expression.
"Auri, how about I take you girls somewhere fun?"
Auri blinked.
"Fun?"
Her eyes immediately lit up.
She didn’t even ask where they were going. She grabbed the other three girls, and all four quickly gathered around Ethan, ready to leave at any moment.
Where were they going to have fun?
Did that even need to be asked?
Seraphine released the bowstring.
Whoosh!
The arrow of light shot into the upper atmosphere.
Its platinum-white trail pierced the clouds, splitting apart the dark sky left behind by Ethan’s thunderstorm. Dazzling light spread outward along the arrow’s path, illuminating the entire sky.
At the same time, alarms throughout the mechanical pyramid merged into one continuous wail.
Ferrick stood in the center of the control room, his mechanical eye locked on the main display. The energy readings kept jumping, each update sending the numbers sharply higher as several monitoring curves shot past their safety thresholds.
Red indicators lit up one after another around the edges of the screen.
Ferrick had managed to remain composed, but when a new energy peak appeared, his mechanical fingers slowly curled into a fist.
Only now did he truly understand.
He had severely underestimated the people outside.
"Highest combat readiness!"
Ferrick rose from his seat, his metal feet striking the control room floor.
"Begin charging the primary weapon! All other weapons, continue saturation fire!"
His orders traveled through the mechanical conduits and spread across the entire city.
The gears immediately accelerated, and rows of steam valves opened one after another. Superheated gas erupted from the pyramid’s exterior as turrets and launch platforms repositioned themselves along mechanical rails. More power was diverted toward the city’s core.
The entire mechanical city roared back to life.
Outside, the arrow of light finally reached its highest point.
It hung there for a single beat.
Then Light Force burst from within.
Boom!
The arrow exploded, spreading platinum-white radiance across the sky. Countless tiny points of light appeared high overhead like stars igniting all at once, driving away the gloom left by the thunderclouds.
The lights didn’t fade.
Each point of Light Force stretched downward, forming a sharp arrowhead and a complete shaft. Dense ranks of light arrows hung overhead, every one of them aimed at the mechanical pyramid.
Moments ago, a storm of lightning had covered the battlefield.
Now it was time for a rain of light.
The first arrow fell.
Then ten more.
Then a hundred.
Thousands upon thousands of light arrows plunged from the sky. Their platinum-white trails crossed in every direction, nearly blotting out the sky above the mechanical pyramid.
The barrage struck the spatial shield.
A single arrow lasted less than a second against the barrier before spatial forces tore it apart. But the next arrow hit the exact same spot, followed by a third, then a fourth.
The impacts came too rapidly to distinguish.
Circular ripples flashed continuously across the spatial shield. The once-transparent barrier was forced into view, entire sections flickering again and again as its stability declined under the relentless assault.
On the other side of the mechanical pyramid, the repeatedly returning death arrow made its final impact.
The black arrow emerged from warped space and struck the same point on the shield once more.
Boom!
Unable to withstand any more teleportations and collisions, the arrow finally began crumbling from the tip.
But the attack wasn’t over.
The Primordial Death Energy accumulated over its repeated returns broke free of the arrow all at once. Black energy spread across the spatial shield, swallowing light, clouds, and even the ripples in space wherever it passed.
An area of pure darkness appeared beside the mechanical pyramid.
No sky or clouds could be seen within it.
Anything that came near simply vanished.
The spatial shield system immediately began repairing the breach. Pale blue energy poured in from different sections of the pyramid, trying to replace the space devoured by the Primordial Death Energy.
But the moment the spatial power drew close, the darkness caught its edges.
Every section restored was immediately consumed.
As the repairs continued, the black zone didn’t shrink. Instead, it gradually drew the energy meant to restore the shield into itself.
At the same time, every weapon on the mechanical pyramid opened fire.
Machine-gun barrages spread outward from the edges of its outer shell.
Missiles streaked into the sky on trails of flame, locking onto the others one by one. Lasers of varying thickness shot from the cannons, threading through the gaps between the bullets and missiles to form an interlocking web of fire.
The rain of light, the Primordial Death Energy, and the mechanical weapons collided high above, filling the entire sky with explosions of different colors.
Beneath the chaotic barrage, several blue jets flared to life under the mechanical city.
Figures in mechanical armor detached from the pyramid and rose toward the battlefield on their thrusters.
Ferrick led the way.
