Chapter 401: Chapter 394 New Roommate

She had initially planned to stay in school for the remainder of the semester before going home.

However, she received a notification stating that she, along with several other students, had been selected as exchange students for the term and were to attend the Fifth Medical University for the last three months of the semester.

This was technically an exchange of knowledge, but the focus was on academic learning rather than practical experience.

The Fifth Medical University was also a good medical university in Beijing, but unlike the medical department at Qing University, the Fifth Medical University instituted military-style management. In addition to acquiring essential professional knowledge, students were also required to undergo various forms of military training. Its graduates, therefore, had limitless prospects in the medical field.

Tang Yuxin didn’t feel much about being an exchange student. She was going to hardly be at school for this semester. Most of her time was spent observing various surgeries with her mentor. Becoming an exchange student would expose her to more knowledge, which was good. Even without gaining more knowledge, attending a militarized school would give her the chance to exercise daily, which would help curb her laziness.

She felt that her current habits had deteriorated. She used to go to bed early and get up early, but now she usually went to bed late and got up late.

If she continued in this vein, it wouldn’t end well.

She packed her belongings, a few clothes, and food containers, and prepared to report at the Fifth Medical University. There were five spots open for exchange students. Tang Yuxin was one, two spots were occupied by sophomores, and the remaining two by juniors. She had no idea how the selection was made, it might have been random, so it all depended on one’s luck.

She and the other students arrived at the school gate early, waiting for the school’s special vehicle to take them to the Fifth Medical University.

The Fifth Medical University was not too far from Qing University, only about two hours by car. Yet, even with a commute of just two hours, Tang Yuxin had to live on campus due to the strict rules of the school.

Upon arrival, the school had already arranged for her to move into a girls’ dormitory. She was surprised when she stepped inside, as there was an unexpected surprise waiting for her, which she could never have imagined in her wildest dreams.

Of course, this was a surprise she didn’t want.

The girl inside was also taken aback upon seeing her, but quickly brushed it off and continued chatting with other students as if she knew nothing.

“This is Tang Yuxin, an exchange student from Qing University. You all get to know her.” The instructor introduced her to the other students.

“Hello,” a girl stood up, “My name is Li Jia, I’m the dorm leader. Welcome.”

She extended her hand to Tang Yuxin, expressing her goodwill first. Tang Yuxin shook her hand and said, “Hello, my name is Tang Yuxin, a junior from Qing University.”

“We’re also juniors,” Li Jia added, then she introduced her dorm mates to Tang Yuxin. Just like Qing University, this dormitory housed six people and everyone was assigned to a bunk. Knowing an exchange student would join them, they automatically cleared one of the lower bunks for the new student.

After all, this was a student from another school, they couldn’t let her think that Fifth Medical University students were impolite or didn’t know the rules.

There were now five people in the room, four of whom Tang Yuxin had never met. But there was one she was very familiar with since they had lived together for nearly two decades.

“You’re from Qing’an too?” When Li Jia heard Tang Yuxin say she was from Qing’an, she was quite surprised, “What a coincidence, our Jiani is also from Qing’an. Which school did you graduate from?

“I graduated from No.2 Middle School,” Tang Yuxin replied with a smile, then continued to make her bed, folding her pillow and quilt, and placing her luggage as everyone else did.

“She’s also from No.2 Middle School,” Li Jia quickly pulled Wei Jiani over, who was sitting on the side, laughing strangely.

“Jiani, look, your schoolmate is here, from Qing University.”

“How could I not recognize her?” Wei Jiani sneered, “She was our city’s top scorer in the college entrance examination.”

Wei Jiani’s sour comment made everyone feel uncomfortable. When Li Jia heard the words ‘top scorer in the college entrance examination’, she immediately cheered up and started to playfully squeeze Tang Yuxin’s face, “This is the first time I’ve seen a top scorer in the college entrance examination. Turns out they’re just like us, with two eyes and a nose. I thought they were different somehow.”

“Of course they’re different,” other dorm mates laughed, “she’s smarter than you.”

Li Jia wasn’t angry at all. They were just young girls without complicated thoughts. Making new friends was always exciting. Tang Yuxin was not one to boast. If she didn’t mention it, no one would have known about her high score in the college entrance examination. It was something in the past; there was no difference between her and other third-year students.

She also brought some gifts for her new dorm mates, chocolates from a visitor to Commander Huang at the military hospital. They were foreign-made, and Commander Huang didn’t eat them, so he gave her and the nurse who was taking care of him each a box. Originally, Tang Yuxin didn’t want them, but since the nurse also got a box, she accepted. She took two boxes home, giving one to Ting Yuan and her friends, and keeping the other for her new dorm mates.

“Wow, chocolate!” Li Jia immediately hugged the box of chocolates, “I’ve seen this on TV, it’s foreign and tastes really good.”

“How do you know it’s delicious if you haven’t tasted it?” Her dorm mate teased Li Jia.

“Look at the packaging,” Li Jia was salivating and immediately tore open the box. She was the fairest one of all, hence she shared the good stuff equally. That’s why she was selected as the dorm leader. As the dorm leader, she did a great job, her dorm was always awarded the “excellent dormitory” title every year. Otherwise, Tang Yuxin would not have been arranged to live in their dormitory.

Everyone unwrapped their chocolate and started eating. The chocolate melted in their mouths, it was delicious. They all enjoyed the smooth taste of the chocolate. However, not everyone liked it, they were just being polite.
