My Werewolf System

Chapter 1248 - 1248: Saiber's Will (Part 2)

MWS Chapter.

Saiber’s head was spinning, and he was feeling nauseous as he held onto both of his daggers and stared at the Ironfang Rex, all because of the special trait of his weapons.

As Saiber had stated, the weapons the Altered hunters had gathered weren’t regular weapons by any means. Just like how beasts were used to alter the DNA of humans to give them special powers and traits, the weapons were called beast weapons—made from the same DNA of the Altered.

The power granted to the Altered hunters when holding the weapons, as long as they knew how to use them properly, would be somewhat similar to how strong an Altered was. This all depended on the weapon used.

As for the top-tier ones, the weapons even had abilities and special powers. Saiber could tell that the weapon the Ironfang was using right now was one of those. The flames weren’t something an Altered could produce, at least not the one in front of him.

It was all coming from the weapon, and his weapon had its own effect and ability as well. While holding onto one weapon, Saiber could direct himself almost like a magnetic pull towards the other weapon no matter where it was.

This allowed him to move at incredible speeds, and was how he had avoided the attack from Rex, but there was a catch. At the end of the day, Saiber’s body was only that of a human. Moving at such fast speeds made his head spin and the g-force made him feel somewhat nauseous.

It made it hard for him to practice using the weapons at their full potential, and he would have to use it only when truly needed in this fight.

“Come on!” Saiber said. “You Altered aren’t so special!”

In response, there was just a large grin on Rex’s face. He swung the axe in the air, and a large line of fire came shooting out horizontally. Saiber quickly dived underneath the attack, rolling on the ground.

As he got up, he could see a large foot about to hit his face, but Rex saw the same thing happen again. Saiber had moved and his kick had hit nothing but air. Before rolling on the ground, Saiber had thrown his dagger right by Rex’s face, allowing him to zap his way over, so now he was right behind him with his dagger.

Saiber swung his dagger through the thick fur on Rex’s back. The strike was strong, leaving a cut, but it was shallow, and based on Rex’s face, it did next to no damage at all.

He swung his arm around and it was quicker than Saiber expected, because it wasn’t the arm that was holding the axe, it was his other hand. With it, the claws had extended out around thirty centimeters in length. It swiped right across Saiber’s stomach, breaking through his armor and cutting underneath his skin.

Immediately, Saiber threw his dagger to the ground and forced his body to move until he landed on the floor, down on one knee. He placed his hand on his stomach and could see blood dripping.

‘It didn’t reach my organs, but this really hurts and stings… I guess a cut for a cut,’ Saiber thought, as he looked at the giant Rex walking his way towards him.

Although they had both struck each other, the attacks clearly weren’t equal in damage.

Saiber stood up though as he looked to the side, his men fighting hard. They were going head-to-head with the Werewolves, some of them hurt, some of them swinging with all their might to survive—and he needed to do the same.

“I can’t… I have to go and help them, that’s what I promised, so that’s what I’ll do!” Saiber started to throw the dagger and zapped his way till he was behind Rex and swung his dagger, cutting through his hide.

He threw the dagger again and moved before even Rex could react, and now Saiber was constantly doing that—throwing the dagger, attacking, and moving around Rex.

Standing there, Rex was getting cut up all over the place, trying to follow where Saiber was with his eyes. He swung the axe several times filled with the power of flames, yet it was hitting nothing, and Saiber was continuing to strike.

“This is impressive. You are incredibly fast, even faster than me. I didn’t think that was possible!” Rex said as he continued to swing, cuts appearing all over his body. Blood was dripping down onto his fur, but despite all of the hits, Rex was standing there, still just as strong as ever.

Rex continued to swing his blade, with flames coming out of them, wrapping around him and missing their target. Eventually, Saiber had thrown his dagger a few meters away and moved over there.

Immediately he fell to his knees, his face completely red, and he couldn’t contain it any longer as he threw up right on the ground.

“My senses are a bit better than yours,” Rex claimed. “I could tell there wasn’t much for me to do… that eventually you would tire out using that weapon of yours. So I just needed to make it a little hot to make you tired a little quicker, to keep you moving, you see.

“These wounds, they’re nothing but pencil scratches on a body like mine. You were quite entertaining while you lasted.” Rex lifted up his axe in the air, and flames travelled around it from the bottom to the top.

Even though they were far away, Rex swung his axe down, and the tornado of flames headed right for Saiber.

‘Crap… I can’t even move my hands like this… I just need a bit more time to recover!’

As Rex looked into the spiral of flames coming at him, he felt an arm lifting him up, and then his entire body chucked to the side. Saiber skidded on the floor and looked at who had just thrown him out of the way.

“Rookie, what are you doing!” Saiber shouted.

The apprentice he hadn’t trusted, the apprentice that had given him a headache so long on this journey—he was the one that had thrown him, and now was standing in front of the tunnels of flames coming right at him.

“I’m doing what I should have done from the beginning,” Gary answered.

The spiral of flames completely consumed the entirety of the rookie’s body, leaving Saiber to scream.

“ROOKIE!!!!”
