My Virtu-Real Harem System
Chapter 36: Restless Realities
Leo remained kneeling on the cold, damp forest grass, his large hands still hovering over Cynthia’s pale, unconscious shoulder. Every single muscle fiber beneath his Western combat uniform layers was wound to an absolute, hair-trigger tension. He slowly tilted his chin upward, his dark grey eyes locking dead onto the striking silhouette stepping out from the tree line.
Stella stood motionless beneath the silver moonlight. Her expression was completely serious, calculating, and authoritative, devoid of a single trace of her usual transfer student clumsiness. Her predatory emerald-green eyes were glowing with a vibrant, otherworldly light that seemed to pierce straight through the darkness, anchoring Leo in his spot as his intelligence core violently flashed internal security alerts.
Pop.
Without a single warning, the otherworldly emerald glow violently snapped out of existence. As if a physical switch had been thrown inside her configuration, Stella’s facial features instantly warped back into her signature, hyper-goofy pout. She rapidly blinked her big eyes, her lower lip jutting out in dramatic offense as she aggressively pointed a slender finger down at Leo's kneeling form.
"Eeeeh?! Leo, you complete giant pervert!" Stella screamed out in a high-pitched, comically frantic tone, her exotic accent echoing loudly through the quiet woods. "What the heck are you doing out here in the middle of the pitch-black forest with two women in this condition?! I knew you were a campus model, but this is a total civil violation!"
Leo’s jaw tightened, an intensely annoyed twitch fracturing his sharp profile as his intellect scrambled to process the sudden, jarring attitude flip. He slowly rose to his full height, brushing the dirt off his charcoal-grey reinforcement vest as his voice dropped to a low, deeply irritated growl. "Drop the theater, Stella. Where the hell were you? You vanished into the brush blocks the second a single forest animal made a noise."
"I was running for my literal life!" Stella whined dramatically, aggressively caressing the back of her silver-white hair as she walked over to the clearing with a slight stagger. "I sprinted away so fast that I caught my foot on a massive tree root, crashed flat onto the solid dirt, and completely passed out for a while! My head is still spinning! And when I finally wake up and track your path... I find you standing over a student council president! You should be thanking me for not calling the campus security proctors right now!"
Leo’s dark eyes narrowed to razor slits, thoroughly analyzing her micro-expressions. Her story was clumsy, and her frantic, rubbing gestures felt heavily rehearsed, but with zero physical system alerts active, he had no choice but to set his doubts aside for the current timeline. The immediate reality on the forest floor required execution.
"If you're done whining, keep your mouth shut and help me cover them," Leo commanded firmly, his voice snapping with rigid focus. "The temperature is dropping, and they will be cold."
"Hmph! Always acting like a strict boss," Stella pouted annoyingly. She unzipped her heavy tactical nylon bag, reaching inside to drag out a couple of spare, loosely fitted university cardigans and casual track pants. "Fine, go stand way over there. I'll make Cynthia and Chloe wear these."
Leo turned his back, walking a few meters away into the dark tree line to maintain absolute guidelines-safe boundaries while Stella quickly dressed the two sleeping heroines. A few minutes later, the rustling of fabric ceased.
"Alright, you can come back now," Stella muttered, heavily lifting the limp, pink-haired frame of Chloe up onto her slender back, her wide hourglass hips straining slightly under the weight. "Don't just stand there looking useless with your big muscles, Leo. You carry Cynthia. Let's get down from this stupid mountain trail."
Leo walked over, easily hauling Cynthia’s voluptuous, form-fitting frame into a smooth, effortless bridal carry against his broad athletic chest. As they began their slow, grueling descent down the steep gravel path, the silence of the night settled back over them.
Stella glanced sideways at his sharp profile, her emerald eyes carrying a curious, quiet focus. "Hey... Leo? What actually happened up there? Where did that weird artificial light come from right before I found you?"
Leo stared straight ahead into the dark path, his fingers tightening slightly around Cynthia's waist. "I can't really tell you for now, Stella. Just focus on your footing."
"Tch! Secretive jerk," Stella pouted aggressively, turning her head away with a theatrical huff.
Leo stayed silent, his intellect looping through the second-floor database logs before he softly asked, "Stella... have you ever seen a woman wearing a tight, form-fitting obsidian cyberpunk bodysuit around here? Someone with long, midnight-blue hair?"
Stella's posture went momentarily rigid beneath Chloe's weight, but she quickly shook her head with absolute, unbothered redirection. "Eeeh? A cyberpunk bodysuit? What kind of weird adult magazines are you reading inside your studio apartment, Leo? I've never seen anyone like that."
Leo let out a long, exhausted sigh, letting his brain and body rest for the remainder of the transit block as the forest canopy slowly faded into the familiar concrete avenues of the city grid.
.....
The midnight rainstorm had settled into a gentle, rhythmic patter against the exterior window glass. Inside the room, Chloe and Cynthia were lying side-by-side, securely tucked beneath the grey sheets of his twin mattress, their breathing slow, deep, and fully recovered.
Leo stood outside on the open concrete balcony of the apartment corridor, his hands leaning firmly against the iron railing as he stared up into the deep, cloudy midnight sky. His mind was an absolute battlefield of high-level calculations. The system clone... the futuristic laboratory that dissolved into code... and the weird woman. Nothing about this simulation loop made legal sense anymore.
The rustle of the balcony screen door echoed behind him. Stella stepped out into the cool night air, her silver-white hair catching the ambient amber glow of the courtyard streetlamps. She walked over smoothly, leaning her voluptuous hourglass waist right against the iron rail next to him.
Seeing his deeply furrowed brow and intense expression, Stella's usual arrogant grin completely faded. Moving with a soft, unexpected warmth, she leaned her head sideways, gently resting her cheek right against his broad, athletic shoulder. "You know, Leo... it's completely okay if you don't want to tell me what's going on inside that stubborn head of yours," she murmured softly, her exotic voice dropping to a comforting, unusually gentle pitch. "But you don't need to carry everything alone. Everything will be fine, so there is absolute zero reason to worry."
The sudden, intimate proximity and the soft, heavy weight of her chest pressing lightly against his bicep sent a sudden, white-hot wave of high-arousal tension straight through Leo's lower abdomen. His heart rate fluctuated, his passive Charm aura violently flaring in response to her touch.
Stella’s face instantly painted itself in a deep, white-hot crimson blush as she felt his masculine frame stiffen beside her. She quickly pulled her head back, her emerald eyes wide and flustered as she looked away.
Leo offered a relaxed, slight smirk, his deep baritone carrying a rare, teasing amusement. "Look at that. You can actually be quite cute and nice if you actually try, Stella."
"S-Shut up, you giant narcissist!" Stella pouted aggressively, her hands balling into frantic fists as she grabbed her messenger bag from the balcony chair to mask her extreme embarrassment. "I am always cute! I'm going home right now! See you at the university on Monday morning morning, Leo! Don't you dare miss the attendance proctor!"
She spun on her heel, her denim mini-skirt flaring as she marched frantically down the concrete corridor stairs, leaving Leo alone with a soft chuckle tracing his lips.
.....
The bright, crisp sunlight of Saturday morning violently cut through the studio window blinds, illuminating the small kitchenette layout.
Leo groaned softly, slowly blinking his eyes open. Because he had surrendered his twin mattress to the two heroines, he had spent the night sleeping flat on a makeshift blanket arrangement across the hard linoleum floorboards. But as his consciousness fully stabilized, he realized a heavy, soft weight was firmly anchoring his torso down.
Sitting completely straddled right on top of his stomach was Chloe. Her short pink hair was slightly messy from sleep, and her wide crimson eyes were staring down at his face with a terrifyingly intense, predatory yandere glint of absolute possessiveness.
"Good morning, my precious Leo~," Chloe whispered with a sweet, suffocatingly possessive smile. Before he could even offer a smooth response, she leaned down and planted a soft, lingering kiss straight onto his left cheek.
Leo slowly sat up against the wall, his large hands reaching out to steady her narrow waist. "Chloe... get down. What are you doing?"
Chloe immediately wrapped her slender arms tightly around his broad neck, burying her face into his shoulder with a desperate, crushing physical grip. "I was so scared, Leo! I woke up on your bed and my mind was completely blank... I don't remember anything after leaving the journalism university room afternoon! But waking up inside your room, smelling your scent... it means we are fated to be locked together forever, right?"
"Hey. Underclassman. Get your hands off him this instant."
A strict, authoritative female voice cut through the room like an icy razor. Standing right behind Chloe's back was Cynthia. She was wearing frilly white cooking apron. In her right hand, she was holding a metal turning spatula.
Moving with a calm, disciplined speed, Cynthia gently but firmly tapped the flat of the spatula straight onto the top of Chloe’s pink head. "You're obstructing his physical recovery, Chloe. Get up from top of him right now and take a seat at the dining table."
"Ouch! Senior, that's a total abuse of student council authority!" Chloe pouted aggressively, reluctantly untangling her limbs from Leo's frame and shuffling over to the small wooden table.
Cynthia let out a soft sigh, turning her amber eyes down to Leo. Her strict authoritative facade completely melted, a deep, beautiful pink blush coloring her cheeks as she sat flat on the floorboards right beside him. "Leo... I don't remember the full details of that room... but I remember you coming for us. Thank you... for saving us yesterday."
"Don't worry about it," Leo replied smoothly, his voice dropping into a relaxed rumble. "As long as you're both safe, everything is fine."
"But who actually did that to us?!" Chloe demanded firmly from the table, her crimson eyes flashing with yandere rage as she chewed on a fork. "If I find the rogue faction that locked me inside a glass container, I'm going to print an absolute execution article in the campus paper!"
Cynthia stood up, smoothing down her apron as she walked back over to the sizzling stovetop stove where a massive, beautiful spread of steaming garlic pasta, fresh chicken steaks, and hot tea was waiting. "We can analyze the security breach later, Chloe. For now, the mid-term examinations are counting down, and our bodies need standard protein nourishment. Let's eat first, then we will think about other things."
A few minutes later, both elite women were happily sitting on either side of Leo at his small dining table, comically competing to feed him pieces of succulent chicken steak and creamy pasta, their faces bright, relaxed, and fully infatuated with his passive Charm aura.
Leo picked up his fork, offering them a relaxed, warm smile as he accepted the food. But deep inside the hidden layers of his mind, his intelligence core remained locked in a state of quiet, burning worry. His dark eyes stared at the steam rising from the plates, his thoughts turning completely serious. The digital clone was a perfect match for my attributes. If a high-level anomaly like that deploys against us again... will my current strength level be enough to protect them?
