My Ultimate Gacha System

Chapter 521 127 — Chelsea (II)

  • Next Chapter

Chelsea restarted and went straight back through Palmer, central at first, drifting toward the right half-space to combine with Sterling. Demien tracked the run initially, then passed him on the moment it reached the exact zone United had drilled on Monday, holding his own position instead of following into the same mistake twice.

Chelsea recycled inside. The pass came for Caicedo.

Demien read it before it arrived.

「TRAIT ACTIVATED」 「Ball Winner」

He stepped in and sent United forward again.

「MATCH MISSION PROGRESS」 「Midfield Recoveries: 1/4」

Nothing came of the resulting attack directly, but he released Garnacho early enough that Chelsea had to sprint back into their own third instead of building anything of their own.

The match stayed open despite the lead. Shaw picked up a booking trying to stop one Chelsea transition, a foul that would cost United some of his usual aggression against Sterling and Mudryk for the rest of the half.

"Careful now," Bruno called across to him. "Can't afford to lose you before halftime."

"Wasn't planning to give anything else away," Shaw said.

Chelsea produced one of their better spells shortly after, quick combinations through midfield — Palmer dropping to link with Enzo, dragging Demien's attention for a moment while Jackson worked into the gap between Maguire and Lindelöf. Enzo found the forward route before United could fully reset, and Jackson got a touch inside the box before his effort was blocked.

United answered with more pressure of their own. Caicedo stepped toward Demien on the next possession, and he used it — releasing Bruno, who found Enzo shifting across to close him, which left McTominay free to make another late run. Bruno found him.

Sánchez saved.

United kept the ball alive through the rebound, worked it back to Demien, who switched it wide. Garnacho delivered. McTominay attacked the middle a second time.

Sánchez saved again — a sharp reaction stop followed almost immediately by a second save on the follow-up, the goalkeeper somehow keeping both out from close range.

"That's a double save Chelsea desperately needed," the commentator said. "United cannot believe they're still only one goal up."

「MATCH MISSION PROGRESS」 「Clear Chances Created: 2/3」 「Progressive Actions: 5/7」 「Midfield Recoveries: 2/4」 「Pass Accuracy: 95%」

The panel flickered during the next natural pause and disappeared before United had even reset for the goal kick.

Chelsea made United pay for exactly the pattern Ten Hag had warned about.

United committed numbers around the box again and lost it. Sterling received before Demien could close the first outlet and attacked the open field immediately. Demien turned and recovered through the center, trying to slow him rather than stop him outright, but Sterling had Jackson running alongside and United's defenders retreating in a line.

Sterling squared it.

Jackson received with a real chance in front of him — took one touch more than he needed, hesitated a fraction — and Onana closed the angle fast enough to save it.

Demien pulled up short of the box, visibly frustrated with the shape rather than any one teammate, both arms out toward the midfield. "Stay connected!" he shouted. "We can't keep leaving that gap when we lose it high!"

Chelsea nearly punished them again minutes later, Mudryk finding the left channel and shooting across goal, the ball drifting narrowly wide with United still scrambling to reset from the previous attack.

Ten Hag was on his feet on the touchline, both hands pressing downward — the universal signal for control it.

Demien answered by demanding the ball more often rather than waiting for it to arrive.

United stopped letting every possession become an immediate sprint at Chelsea's goal. He circulated through Maguire and Lindelöf, brought Dalot into the buildup, moved it through McTominay, asked for it back. Chelsea's front four started chasing shadows instead of the ball.

When Palmer eventually jumped toward him again, Demien released it first time to Bruno behind the movement.

Another progressive action logged itself without interrupting anything.

United reached the final third once more. Garnacho got a shot away. Sánchez dealt with it. Chelsea survived, again.

The frustration in the ground was becoming its own kind of noise — the sense that United had enough to be two or three goals clear and somehow weren't.

Late in the half, the third clear chance arrived. Caicedo moved toward Demien while Enzo stayed tight to Bruno. He shaped toward Bruno long enough to make Enzo shift his weight, then found Højlund instead with a disguised vertical ball.

「LEGENDARY SKILL ACTIVATED」 「Mesut Özil — Eye-of-Needle」

Højlund got goal-side of his marker and forced Sánchez into another strong save, the resulting corner clearing nothing but the danger for a moment.

「MATCH MISSION PROGRESS」 「Clear Chances Created: 3/3 — COMPLETE」 「Progressive Actions: 7/7 — COMPLETE」

Every attacking requirement of the mission was already done.

United still led by exactly one goal.

Chelsea recovered from the corner and built patiently rather than sprinting, Mudryk receiving and combining inside instead of running straight at goal. The movement let Palmer collect possession around the edge of United's box.

Demien was already recovering centrally, but Chelsea had runners spread across too many lanes to attack directly. Charging straight at Palmer risked releasing Jackson or Sterling into the space behind him instead. He delayed, angling his run to close the shooting lane while the defenders scrambled to get across.

Palmer carried it laterally along the edge of the box, patient, waiting.

A narrow gap opened between two United defenders.

He saw it immediately.

Low finish toward the far corner.

Onana got down, fingers stretching.

Couldn't reach it.

MANCHESTER UNITED 1 — 1 CHELSEA Cole Palmer, 45'

The visiting end erupted. Old Trafford's reaction was disbelief more than anger — a stadium that had watched its team dominate the ball, miss a penalty, and hit the same goalkeeper's gloves over and over, only to find itself level on the stroke of halftime anyway.

"Palmer, on the stroke of half-time," the commentator said, quieter than the goal deserved. "And you have to ask how Chelsea are still in this at all."

Demien didn't look for anyone to blame. He glanced at the scoreboard once, then straight back toward midfield — stoppage time still had to be played.

United tried to respond without losing their shape completely. Demien received from Maguire and moved Chelsea backward through simple possession. Bruno tried one vertical ball toward Højlund that Chelsea cut out. Chelsea tried countering through Sterling, but this time Demien had stayed behind the attack and stepped across the central pass before it could develop.

「MATCH MISSION PROGRESS」 「Midfield Recoveries: 3/4」

United attacked once more through Garnacho, whose final ball was claimed cleanly by Sánchez.

No forced goal arrived before the whistle.

The referee blew for halftime.

HALFTIME: MANCHESTER UNITED 1 — 1 CHELSEA

Demien walked toward the tunnel aware the scoreline bore almost no resemblance to how the half had actually gone.

「HALFTIME MISSION UPDATE」 「Clear Chances Created: 3/3 — COMPLETE」 「Progressive Actions: 7/7 — COMPLETE」 「Midfield Recoveries: 3/4」 「Pass Accuracy: 94%」 「TEAM OBJECTIVE: 1-1」

No reward yet. No rating. No extra mission opening to soften anything.

Ten Hag didn't need to invent a complicated problem in the dressing room. He put the first-half numbers straight onto the screen — the shots, the chances, the pressure United had sustained almost from the opening whistle.

"You've already found their weaknesses," he said. "You just haven't punished them enough. Chelsea haven't solved anything we didn't already know about them. Keep doing exactly what you were doing to their midfield. But every time we lose the ball with numbers forward, we're handing them the same forty meters of grass we spent two days trying to take away."

Demien looked at Chelsea's shape still up on the tactics board, Palmer's arrows, Caicedo and Enzo's positioning, Mudryk's transition lanes.

They hadn't solved United.

The scoreboard just said they had.
