Moving through the sky on his own two feet instead of relying on a flying treasure, Gu Yuan marveled at the experience for a moment. Then he suddenly remembered something and turned to Ji Yan.

"Senior Sister, why did the Heavenly Tribulation transform midway through my breakthrough?"

Gu Yuan had already done his research. From the few records he had read, he had never found anything similar to what he had experienced.

Some geniuses with exceptionally strong foundations could attract a stronger Heavenly Tribulation.

But well... he was no genius.

He possessed neither a heaven-defying physique nor a foundation rarely seen in ages. He was only cultivating powerful techniques and carrying powerful treasures, but neither of those should have affected the strength of his Heavenly Tribulation.

So what could have caused it?

Gu Yuan was still wondering when Ji Yan, who had been thinking about it, finally spoke.

"I’m not as knowledgeable as Yue, so I can’t be certain, but it’s probably because of us."

"The Heavenly Tribulation sensed our marks within you and probably couldn’t tolerate your existence."

Then, it can’t be helped...

That was the first thought that came to Gu Yuan when he heard her answer. Still curious, he asked, "And why is that?"

"It’s probably related to our reincarnation," Ji Yan said uncertainly. "If you want to know more, ask Yue later."

Gu Yuan nodded thoughtfully.

Ji Yue was the one who had told him that he could ask her anything, so why did it feel like Ji Yan was the one he could ask about everything? He wondered about it for a moment before shaking his head.

For now, there was something far more important.

Gu Yuan opened his status window.

[Name: Gu Yuan]

[Lifespan: 51/700]

[Spiritual Root: First Grade]

[Cultivation: Spiritual Core Realm, First Stage]

[Cultivation Method: Golden Mountain Scripture (Earth Grade)]

[Professions: Forging Master (Spirit Grade), Array Master (Spirit Grade)]

[Techniques: Basic Saber Form, Nine Phantom Steps (Profound Grade), Heaven Rend Saber Technique (Incomplete, Heaven Grade), Heaven-Shattering Palm (Heaven Grade), Silent Dust Art (Earth Grade), Heavenly Shadow Traversal (Heaven Grade), Blood Moon Severing Saber (Heaven Grade)]

[Special Abilities: Heart of Comprehension]

[Possession: Orb of Creation, Thousand Forms Ring (Heaven Grade), Silent Moon Ring (Earth Grade), Hidden Garden Bracelet (Earth Grade), Cloudveil Robe (Earth Grade), Ironheart Hammer (Earth Grade), Heavenfall Saber (Heaven Grade), Crimson Fire (Half-Immortal Grade)]

[Dao Companions: Ji Xingyue, Ji Huangyan]

As always, the first thing Gu Yuan noticed in his status window was his lifespan.

What had been around sixty when he first started cultivating had now become seven hundred.

The number felt like an indication of his progress, even more so than his cultivation.

Gu Yuan would have liked to give the other information in his status window a quick glance before turning his attention to the Orb of Creation. But as he did, his gaze paused on the Crimson Fire.

Half-Immortal Grade?

He was a little surprised by the discovery.

Was this the reason the fire was so powerful?

More importantly, such a precious treasure had been given to him by the twins.

At the thought, a quiet warmth spread through Gu Yuan’s chest.

Regardless, it was time to confirm the new sensation he had felt earlier, after his breakthrough.

[Orb of Creation]

- Qi Absorption: Passively absorbs Spirit Qi from the surroundings and refines it into Qi compatible with the host.

- Spiritual Root Enhancement: Continuously refines and strengthens the host’s Spiritual Root.

- Threads of Providence: Allows the host to perceive the threads of fate and providence connected to a target, revealing hidden information in a clear, structured form.

- True Veil: Allows the host to conceal any aspect of himself from the Heavens, Karma, and all living beings.

True Veil.

Reading the description of the new ability he had obtained from the Orb of Creation and confirming the sensation he had felt earlier, Gu Yuan was excited.

The problem with his Spiritual Root, which he had always worried about, had been solved on its own!

Now, what should he hide and what should he display?

He wondered for a moment before his gaze momentarily caught sight of Ji Yan’s ruffling red hair.

He remembered her words from before, when she had told him to stop hiding his cultivation.

He had brushed her off back then, but the topic had lingered in his mind ever since, along with his coming wedding.

When he stood alongside the twins later, Gu Yuan didn’t want to hide his cultivation. His low qualifications were already something he had accepted, and he didn’t want to make himself seem even weaker than he actually was.

So, Gu Yuan displayed his Spiritual Core cultivation while concealing everything else.

Noticing the change immediately, Ji Yan stopped mid-air and turned toward him.

"What did you do?"

Her voice had never sounded that surprised before.

Hearing it, Gu Yuan felt a little smug.

"Nothing? I just decided to stop hiding my cultivation like you wanted."

Ji Yan remained silent. She focused her eyes and senses on him, trying to glean anything she could, but it was as if his entire existence had been shrouded in darkness.

Only his cultivation was visible.

Nothing else.

"Forget it." Ji Yan shook her head with a chuckle. "I already heard that you weren’t some ordinary cultivator long ago, anyway."

"What do you mean?" Gu Yuan asked, now curious about what she had heard.

Should she have not said that? Ji Yan made an expression as though she had slipped up for a moment, but then she shrugged, apparently no longer caring.

"It’s like I said. In our previous life, at the height of our power, Yue divined about you quite a lot. So, we already know that you have all kinds of strange abilities."

"What kind of abilities do you mean? Can you be more specific?"

"I don’t know. It’s just that things that seem impossible for others, even for us two sisters, would be solved by you... or so I was told." Ji Yan shrugged.

Is it about Ascension again? Or something else?

Gu Yuan wondered as he continued flying toward the Black Desolation Sect alongside Ji Yan.

When they arrived, Gu Yuan was surprised to find a festive atmosphere enveloping the sect, and a smile inadvertently appeared on his face.

He moved toward his cave abode, curious about what kind of changes had been made to it. However, before he could reach it, he came across Ruxi waiting near the entrance to the Inner Sect.

"Greetings, Young Miss, Young Master."

After the polite greeting, she turned to Ji Yan. "Madam is waiting for you. Please come with us."

As if to prevent her from running away again, a few more maids stood around them.

"Then if you will excuse us, Young Master." Ruxi bowed, and they led Ji Yan away.

Left alone, Gu Yuan shook his head before continuing on his way.

He searched for his cave abode, turning left and right, but found nothing.

Just then, seemingly coming to his rescue, a familiar voice sounded behind him.

"Are you having trouble finding your own residence, Junior Brother? Should I give you a hand?"
