Chapter 558

Launching himself toward the hundred One-Spined Aberrants without the slightest regard for his own safety, Ray equipped his pair of daggers.

Lightning crawled around their guards and blades, crackling violently as though resonating with the fury surging through his body. Each spark illuminated his silver hair for a fleeting moment before disappearing beneath the blinding streaks of electricity surrounding him.

His speed had become too much for the viewers to follow.

Johnny immediately activated his ability, slowing down the footage in an attempt to capture Ray’s movements. Even then, the boy remained almost impossible to see. The cameras struggled to keep up with the blur tearing across the battlefield, leaving behind little more than fleeting images of silver hair and crackling lightning.

It was as though Ray had become one with the wind itself.

The Aberrants had it even worse.

One moment, they saw him facing the Three-Spined Aberrant. The next, he was charging straight toward them, only to vanish from their sight before they could react. Streaks of lightning crackled across the battlefield, striking the ground wherever he had passed.

This was unlike anything the Tribrid had demonstrated earlier.

He was no longer holding back.

It was as though the very essence of anger had consumed him, swallowing everything else like shadows absorbing light. There was no hesitation in his movements, no unnecessary flourish, and no concern for anything beyond the enemies standing before him.

And then, the consequences of his fury became painfully clear.

Two One-Spined Aberrants suddenly collapsed to their knees.

They hadn’t even seen what struck them. One moment, they were standing among their comrades; the next, something slammed into the backs of their thighs with such force that their legs buckled beneath them.

Before either creature could recover, Ray flashed into view directly in front of them.

Like an assassin emerging from the darkness, his daggers gleamed past their faces.

SHHK!

Both blades tore through their necks, opening deep wounds that spilled blood across the ground. Ray’s movements were so precise that it almost seemed as though he had deliberately slowed down, allowing the creatures to see their executioner in the final moments before their deaths.

"He’s right there!" the Three-Spined Aberrant roared angrily, pointing toward the two fallen One-Spines.

The remaining creatures immediately whirled around, their attention snapping toward the spot where Ray had appeared. The faster ones reacted first, swinging their massive legs toward the boy in an attempt to crush him before he could disappear again.

But they were already too late.

Ray vanished from their sight and reappeared above another One-Spined Aberrant.

Before the creature could even raise its head, Ray sent one of his daggers into his inventory. He drew his remaining hand backward, muscles tightening as lightning gathered around his arm.

Then he hurled the dagger forward.

The weapon rocketed through the air like a bullet, its blade surrounded by a violent trail of electricity as it slammed into the Aberrant’s head.

BAM! BOOOM!

The initial impact sent dust bursting outward. A split second later, the ground beneath the creature cratered, shattering into chunks of rock as the force of the blow drove its head downward.

The Aberrant’s eyes widened.

Blood seeped from its eyes and neck as cracks spiderwebbed across the latter. Under the overwhelming force, its head flattened against the impact, leaving its neck drenched in blood as the rest of its body was hurled into the distance.

The Three-Spined Aberrant stared in shock.

What was this?!

The viewers who couldn’t keep up with Ray’s movements swallowed hard in unison, their eyes widening as they struggled to comprehend what they had just witnessed.

Meanwhile, the residents of Wall Rose erupted into cheers.

"Give it to them, Ray! We’re solidly behind you!"

"Fuckers! Wasn’t this the same way you all flattened our loved ones a year ago? Hahaha! Eat our fists!"

Their roars echoed from the various locations where people had gathered to watch the livestream. Some cheered with clenched fists, while others shouted their rage at the creatures that had stolen their homes and destroyed their lives.

For these people, Ray’s rampage was more than an impressive display of strength. Every fallen Aberrant represented another small piece of vengeance for what had happened a year ago.

However, not everyone watching reacted with the same excitement.

Those powerful enough to follow Ray’s movements maintained stoic expressions, quietly observing the battlefield. Unlike the ordinary viewers, they understood just how frightening his speed and destructive power had become.

Back on the battlefield, Ray’s wings blurred behind him, keeping him airborne for a few moments longer.

Two Aberrants flanked him from either side, their enormous claws sweeping toward his body in an attempt to catch him between their attacks.

Yet the Tribrid remained unfazed.

He simply extended his hands toward his sides.

Sparks of lightning gathered in his left hand, rapidly coalescing into a crackling spear. At the same time, a sword-like beam of light materialized in his right, shining with an intensity that pierced through the dust surrounding him.

The weapons formed almost instantly.

The two Aberrants were already committed to their attacks, their claws racing toward Ray with too much momentum to pull back.

And then—

BANG! TCHAAAK!

Both attacks were released.

The lightning spear and the sword-like beam tore through the air, striking the Aberrants’ necks with devastating precision. Gaping holes opened in their flesh, and blood gushed from the wounds as the creatures’ expressions twisted in shock.

But the attacks didn’t stop there.

The spear and beam continued beyond their targets, crashing into the earth and ripping through the ground. Stone split apart beneath their force as clouds of smoke and dust surged into the air.

The sizzling sound of residual energy lingered over the battlefield.

The remaining Aberrants took half a step backward.

For the first time, fear began to creep into their movements.

Above them, Ray remained suspended in the air, lightning crawling across his body as the two creatures he had just struck collapsed to their knees.

His expression remained cold.

And the Three-Spined Aberrant could only frown in frustration.

’We all have the passive trait of growing stronger with every drop of blood we spill. Our hearts are located in different places in each Aberrant, yet how is he killing them so easily without even injuring them first?

It’s as though he can locate our hearts and take us out without triggering our passive traits. The hell is this? What has he become so suddenly?!’

"...."

Ray waited silently, his sizzling eyes fixed on the remaining Aberrants.

In just a minute, he had taken out approximately six of them. Yet, despite their overwhelming numerical advantage, the creatures showed no intention of approaching him.

Purple lightning crackled around his hands as space tore open before him, a phenomenon visible only to his eyes. A moment later, his daggers materialized back into his grasp.

He tilted his head slightly, his gaze settling on the trembling Aberrants.

"What happened? Scared? Tsk. I was scared too a year ago when you all invaded my home. I lost everything right here a year ago."

As though responding to the fury burning within him, the clouds overhead began to darken, gathering closer and closer until the sun was barely visible behind their thick cover.

It wasn’t nighttime, yet it almost felt like it.

A peculiar chill spread across the entire Wall, carrying an eerie stillness that made one long to retreat to the warmth of their bed and sleep soundly, far away from the horrors unfolding before them.

Ray pointed one of his daggers toward the Aberrants ahead of him and slowly exhaled.

"Fine. If you won’t come to me, I’ll come to you instead."

[Thunder Step Activated]

BANG!

Ray practically vanished from where he stood.

In a single flash, he crossed several metres, his figure blurring beyond the limits of ordinary vision.

His daggers gleamed before the Aberrants’ eyes.

A moment later, their bodies struck the ground.

Fodders!

That was all these creatures had become in Ray’s hands.

The once-dreaded One-Spined Aberrants, capable of massacring hundreds of humans with little effort, were being reduced to helpless targets. Ray cut through them with the merciless efficiency of a lumberjack chopping down trees.

The world thundered as he blitzed through the battlefield, moving as though the Aberrants owed him two years’ worth of rent.

He was relentless.

"What are you fools doing?! ATTACK!" the Three-Spined Aberrant roared furiously.

But how could they attack something they couldn’t even see?

All they could perceive was a streak of lightning zigzagging between them, kicking up violent gales and leaving barely a glimpse of the figure within.

One moment, an Aberrant would be standing beside its comrades. The next, lightning would flash past, and the creature would crumple to the ground.

The clouds deepened to a heavy shade of grey.

Thunder rumbled within their depths, followed by flashes of lightning that illuminated the battlefield in brief, terrifying bursts. Each flash revealed another glimpse of the massacre unfolding beneath the storm.

Blood began flowing like a stream as Ray tore through the Aberrants, ensuring that every attack inflicted maximum damage.

He was going all out, without a single shred of hesitation or concern.

His strongest skills followed one another in rapid succession, as though he possessed an endless reservoir of energy to draw from.

Not a single claw or fist managed to touch him, and his HP remained untouched.

He had decided to become a full-fledged monster to these monsters.

Within the blink of an eye, dozens of Aberrants were already collapsing.

One of them took a hesitant step backward as streaks of lightning continued to race around its comrades, generating powerful gusts that swept dust across the battlefield. The figure responsible for the carnage remained almost impossible to distinguish within the storm.

It took another step backward.

Real fear slammed against its heart.

Then, without warning, a golden lasso wrapped firmly around its neck.

"Where do you think you’re going?"

The voice sounded like the devil himself had whispered into its ears.

Before the Aberrant could react, the lasso yanked it forward, dragging its enormous body through the air toward its executioner.

A fist came flying toward its face.

The impact carried the force of four speeding trains.

CRACK!

Its head shattered beneath the blow, and the creature was blasted far into the distance.

Minutes passed in a blur.

Exactly five minutes later, Ray finally came to a skidding halt atop the stream of blue blood he had created across the ground.

His daggers were drenched in blood, their blades so thoroughly coated that it was difficult to distinguish the crimson-blue lightning crackling around them from the viscous liquid clinging to their surfaces.

Blood soaked his silver hair and streaked across his face, running down his cheeks and dripping from his chin.

Behind him lay a masterpiece of destruction.

Cracks and craters littered the battlefield, while gigantic corpses sprawled across the shattered ground like discarded cookie wrappers. Blood streamed from their wounds, pooling in the broken earth and merging into a grotesque river that stretched across the battlefield.

The surroundings had been shrouded in grey, the storm clouds casting an oppressive shadow over the devastation. Only a few rays of sunlight pierced through the darkness, shining from behind Ray’s silhouette.

He stood motionless, holding his daggers at his sides.

Lightning continued to crackle furiously around his eyes, while his robe fluttered in the increasingly violent wind. Dust swirled around his feet, carried by gusts that swept across the ravaged battlefield.

Then, a notification appeared before him.

[Enemies defeated: 149/150]

Another rumble rolled through the clouds.

The storm seemed to answer as the heavens finally began to weep, raindrops falling across the battlefield.

Ray slowly lifted his weapon and pointed it toward the Three-Spined Aberrant.

His sizzling eyes locked onto the creature.

A faint smile tugged at his lips.

"I’m back, boo."
