My Trash System got a Loophole

Chapter 33: CH-33: Let the drama commence!

Night.

The moon hung up in the sky to illuminate its shine, letting them bathe in its moonlight.

At Jian Yulan’s place, just like yesterday, she was meditating, but she couldn’t focus. Something was clearly affecting her mind.

"It seems... I am too agitated. No worries, it’s just a matter of time!"

Shaking her head, she stood up from her meditation posture and instead decided to take a bath.

Just as she had taken her clothes off, she felt a faint energy signal entering her perception.

"Again??"

But she dismissed that thought. This energy signal was far too weak. When she sensed closely, she finally knew who it was coming from.

It was coming from none other than...

Gu Changsheng and Dong Mulan!

"What are these two trying to do at this hour?"

Puzzled, she waited for the couple to arrive. Whatever their purpose was, it would be clear when they came in. Once the couple reached the doorstep, they found the door wide open, as if inviting them in.

They entered cautiously. Though Gu Changsheng had a plan in mind, he wasn’t sure it could work out.

"Why are you here?"

Jian Yulan asked about their purpose, confused about their unwanted visit.

The couple unfolded the drama, first bowing ninety degrees while stating simultaneously.

"To thank Elder Jian!!" ×2

"No need for thanks, you may go!"

Jian Yulan denied them outright, but they didn’t come all the way here only to go back.

"How can that be!? We want to thank Elder Jian from the bottom of our hearts!"

Dong intoned, only to have her hand clamped by Gu Changsheng. He quickly apologized on her behalf.

After pondering for a bit, Jian Yulan finally relented, asking how they were going to thank her. Anyways, she wasn’t in the right mind, so she might as well do so. Perchance, her mood might freshen up.

"My Changsheng is a great chef; he will cook all your favourite dishes."

"And I know of a concealed treasure just outside the sect, but it’s guarded by a 3-Star spirit monster. I want to offer that too!"

Dong Mulan continued on with her banter, not knowing her husband was planning something else entirely.

Gu Changsheng made a simple plan: to have Dong Mulan take Elder Jian out, and he would try to gain the staff’s insights somehow.

He told Mulan that they were going to show their gratitude, which she happily agreed to.

Poor Mulan...

If only she knew... Of her DEAR husband’s mischief...

She was enthusiastically helping him carry out a plan without even knowing what the actual plan was.

"The kitchen is over there, and here are some ingredients. Just make whatever you’re good at. Little girl, let’s go!!"

Jian Yulan had a slight urge to simply go with the flow, and she decided to do just that. She took out a few basic ingredients and pointed towards the kitchen, then turned towards Dong Mulan.

Giving Gu Changsheng an encouraging look, Dong Mulan guided Elder Jian outwards.

As they went away, Gu Changsheng began his wrongdoing, searching for the staff. It’s shown that the staff is right here in one of the rooms.

Without waiting another second, he cautiously made his way to the room, his mind praying for no traps or restriction mechanisms.

Surprisingly, the room wasn’t locked, so he entered the room with much gratification.

From the looks of it, this room was a bedroom, simple but well-endowed.

And the thing he was here for stood right beside the bed on the stand.

A smile appeared on his face as he looked towards the item. It was a broken metal staff, nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps only he knew the out-of-the-ordinary part.

But seeing how it was placed made him worry even more. In the same way, there was a beautiful sword, but with a bloodthirsty presence to it.

Will Elder Jian kill me if she found out he did something here?

He pondered, but was terrified by his own thought process, shaking his head like a rattlesnake.

Taking a deep breath, he decided to take the gamble, slowly touching the broken staff. He closed his eyes shut whilst he did so, trying to perceive the insights within.

One minute passed... Then two...

But enlightenment never took place.

As he reopened his eyes, confusion filled them, releasing his hand in discomfort.

Did All-Father implant a worthiness spell on this too??

For a while, he tried all the methods he could, but none showed the results he wanted. Discouraged, he finally gave up, making his way to the kitchen instead.

After all, that was the given excuse to Elder Jian. He can’t just not make the dishes.

[A/N: Longing to be a great cultivator only to end up as a great cook, not bad! (⌐■_■)]

With a burdened heart, he began to cook, opting for steamed dumplings, stir-fried chicken, and munchao soup.

...

Elsewhere.

In a mortal city near the Sword Sect, an abandoned building was occupied by a 3-Star spirit beast, a treasure-hunting rat.

Until two intruders came to disrupt its peaceful slumber, slaying it outright.

"Who could have thought... Such a beast thriving within a mortal city."

Intoned Jian Yulan calmly, in her hand a piece of 4-Star metal ore, the Sun Gold. She didn’t expect such a haul, not something given so easily.

If not for them, the rat may have lurked for more time or even wreaked havoc upon the mortals.

"Are you sure I can have it all??"

She turned towards Dong Mulan, questioning as she pondered on how she knew of this.

While the lass in question was also pondering on how her husband knew, her little brain, however, was not meant for such activity, instead focusing on Jian Yulan’s one-shot KO of the treasure rat.

For Jian Yulan, that was but an easy task to achieve.

Dong Mulan eagerly nodded her head, her eyes mesmerized by Jian Yulan’s sword strike.

With all the pieces in place, they decided it was finally time for the feast.
