My System Tricked Twelve Beast Husbands to Give Birth for Me
Chapter 87: Zhan Heng: Only I Feel Distressed for the Female Master
Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Zhan Heng: Only I Feel Distressed for the Female Master
Gu Weilan instantly pulled her dagger from her Space Button. Zhan Heng’s dark red pupils dilated for a fraction of a second. He had long noticed Gu Weilan’s combat awareness, which seemed ingrained in her muscle memory. Only a Beastman who was constantly engaged in battle truly understood what combat awareness meant. A Beastman without it wouldn’t even know how to dodge a random punch thrown their way; when faced with sudden danger, they would only panic and freeze. However, Gu Weilan had clearly participated in countless battles. She knew exactly what to do to protect herself to the greatest extent possible. And a Beastman who knew how to protect themselves so well had usually endured a great deal of trauma to hone such exceptional reflexes. Zhan Heng’s fingers, which had been resting lightly on his lap, quietly curled into tight fists. His heart ached for her. Who had forced her to develop such rapid reflexes?
Lorenzo took a deep breath, his thoughts mirroring Zhan Heng’s. As someone who dealt with bounties, he knew all too well that her reaction indicated just how much she had suffered in the past. Shi Lingfeng pursed his lips. Although he didn’t say anything and was only briefly startled by her reaction, it wasn’t hard for him to figure out the implications after careful thought.
Clutching the Incubation Pod, Xie Jing quickly stepped aside. He was genuinely afraid that Xuanshuo, unable to vent his anger on Gu Weilan, might just take it out on him instead.
Zhan Heng and Lorenzo stood up and softly reassured her. "Sit tight and don’t move. Beast Husband Lorenzo and I will go see what Xuanshuo is up to."
Lorenzo wanted to comfort her and tell her not to be nervous, but she clearly wasn’t nervous at all. It looked as if she had only pulled out the dagger to play with it. Her beautiful face merely revealed a hint of careless coldness, giving off the impression that if anyone dared to upset her, she would slaughter her way through them. Although Lorenzo didn’t know where a Seventh Rank Female Master got such confidence and assurance, she was indeed perfectly calm and composed. Moreover, he felt that Gu Weilan’s originally bright and sunny appearance, combined with this dangerous aura, had once again struck a soft spot in his heart. His heart was beating so fast right now!
Seeing Lorenzo staring blankly at their Female Master, Shi Lingfeng couldn’t help but let out a light cough to remind him of the current situation. He wondered if it was really appropriate to stare at the Female Master like a lovestruck fool at a time like this.
However, when Zhan Heng and Lorenzo opened the door, Xuanshuo was already gone. A box sat on the floor by the door, tied with a ribbon in a cross and a bow. Zhan Heng narrowed his eyes and opened the box directly. Inside was a card.
He handed the card to Gu Weilan. "I don’t know how many Star Coins are in here. This is a standard anonymous card commonly used in the black market. Just tap it against your Light Computer Bracelet, and the Star Coins will be transferred to your account."
Taking advantage of the open door, the Silver-spotted Cat slipped inside. He ran over to Gu Weilan, rubbed against her ankle, and let out a loud PURR PURR sound. Gu Weilan tapped the card against her Light Computer Bracelet. The Light Brain let out a DING, and ten million Star Coins were deposited into her account.
"He left without saying a word?" she asked.
Zhan Heng raised an eyebrow slightly. "What’s wrong? Did his unusual behavior actually make you care about him?"
Gu Weilan vigorously petted the Silver-spotted Cat before glancing at Zhan Heng. "You really get jealous over the most ridiculous things!"
Although everyone deliberately avoided bringing up that male again, hoping Gu Weilan wouldn’t actually take an interest in Xuanshuo because of this, they all kept a close eye on the movements of Gu Yaoqing and Xuanshuo. After all, Xuanshuo had previously mentioned the Gu family, and the Gu family had tried time and time again to get close to Gu Weilan through him. As for Xuanshuo, although this male hadn’t left a good impression on them, it wasn’t a particularly bad one either.
Lorenzo couldn’t help but send a reminder in the Beast Husbands’ private group chat.
"Xuanshuo is from the Black Ape Clan. It seems their clan makes a living by reselling information. You should all be more careful.
"Also, I’ve managed to uncover some information about our Female Master’s identity over the past two days. She is indeed a daughter of the Gu family. Her family extracted her heart’s blood to make a potion that would improve her half-brother’s aptitude. She only managed to change her identity by faking her death.
"This means our Female Master definitely won’t be contacting her former childhood friends anymore.
"I’m sure you all know what our Starlight Rabbit Clan does. Our private group chat is encrypted, so we can still talk about things that aren’t absolutely critical here."
After reading Lorenzo’s messages, both Shi Lingfeng and Zhan Heng dispatched their respective forces to target the Gu family. It wasn’t hard for them to guess what Gu Yaoqing was scheming by seeking out Gu Weilan again. Why else would a family and a younger brother who had tortured her to the brink of death come looking for her now? To catch up and be friendly? None of the Beast Husbands were naive enough to believe that. They all guessed that Gu Yaoqing had probably taken a shortcut once and was planning to do it again!
However, they were very curious about one thing: a Beastman who had their heart’s blood extracted would suffer a massive drop in aptitude. So how had their Little Female Master not only survived, but ended up with an even better aptitude?
Perhaps this was a secret that their Female Master was unwilling to share. That was fine. They had a lifetime ahead of them to slowly get to know her.
Right now, they were nurturing a cub in the Incubation Pod. It was only the first month, and they were already so exhausted. They really dreaded to think what they would do when the cub reached three months and required even more energy. Especially towards the end, they would need to add their lifeblood into the Cultivation Liquid and support it with all their energy just to let the cub leave the Incubation Pod... Neither Zhan Heng nor Xie Jing dared to imagine how painful that would be.
Shi Lingfeng, on the other hand, wasn’t afraid, because his elder hadn’t actually passed away yet. When Xie Jing and Xuanshuo had previously discussed Shi Lingfeng, the claim that his elder was on the verge of death was actually just a smokescreen. Part of it was a trap to lure in rivals who wanted to encroach on the military materials factory run by the Gray Wolf Beast Clan. The other part was a test to see how many of the younger generation, like Shi Lingfeng, would be blinded by greed for the family fortune.
After searching the Star Network, Shi Lingfeng had seen posts from fathers of high-aptitude cubs raised in Incubation Pods. They shared that when their energy was drained, their entire bodies ached in agony. This was exactly what Pomegranate Seed had once told Gu Weilan. It could make her disobedient Beast Husbands experience a pain so excruciating that they would wish for death.
Of course, the System Mall sold a potion that could eliminate the pain of energy depletion. Gu Weilan knew this, but she didn’t have enough points to buy it. Her current points were only enough for one potion. Should she give it to Zhan Heng or Shi Lingfeng?
She prided herself on being a master of impartiality. Since she couldn’t provide one for all of her Beast Husbands, then none of them would get one. Inequality was far worse than scarcity. She wasn’t going to cause trouble for herself by making her Beast Husbands think she loved one more than the other. Gu Weilan felt that she had come to the interstellar beast world to enjoy life, not to invite trouble.
After scheduling an appointment with the professor, Gu Weilan finally lay down for a moment of relaxation. Zhan Heng took the Incubation Pod from Xie Jing and wanted to pull Gu Weilan into a chat about the mundane details of daily life that only lovers shared, even if it was just imagining what they should name the cub once it was born.
