Chapter 106: Chapter 106: I Have Never Seen Such a Shameless Person

Gu Weilan’s jet-black eyes were as placid as an ancient well, yet they brimmed with blatant impatience.

Anyone who had survived the Apocalypse knew that once your fists were big enough, you lost the patience to entertain the mindless drivel of people who thought too highly of themselves.

Because when self-righteous people acted like fools, it was hard to resist the urge to kill them.

"What do you mean, ’what should we do’? Don’t speak in riddles. I’m very busy," she said.

Xie Jinglan’s frown deepened. She opened her mouth and feigned a good-natured tone, though her words were exceptionally grating. "Since you’re an orphan, I won’t hold it against you..."

"Mother!"

"Mrs. Xie!"

One voice belonged to Xie Jing, the other to Zhan Heng.

Xie Jing was frantic, desperate to stop his mother from spouting any more insults. Meanwhile, Zhan Heng’s interjection carried a subtle warning.

Gu Weilan completely ignored her and used her Light Brain to contact the professor. "Professor, uninvited guests have trespassed into my villa. I suspect they pose a severe threat to my life and safety. Will our academy step in?"

The Pharmacy Professor was so frightened that the few remaining hairs on his balding head nearly stood on end!

What the hell was going on?

What happened to the shining star of their Agricultural Academy?

Who was it? How insolent!

The professor shouted over the call, "Placate them for now! A wise man doesn’t stand under a collapsing wall! We’ll be right there! Don’t be afraid!"

Xie Jinglan’s expression turned even uglier. The several Beast Husbands sitting beside her shot Gu Weilan hostile glares.

"I meant no such thing. It seems the female Gu Weilan truly lacks a proper upbringing! Aren’t you afraid that when your professors arrive and see how you act, they’ll be ashamed of you?"

Gu Weilan let out a disdainful scoff. "Hah."

She wondered if she should use Devouring Vitality, the Talent Skill she awakened at the First Rank of her Wood Beast Rank, or the Blast Poison Pod Talent Skill she awakened at the Seventh Rank.

For her Ice Element, she had the Absolute Defense Talent Skill awakened at the Fifth Rank.

If she really couldn’t hold them off, should she just throw herself and her three Beast Husbands into her pocket dimension?

She was used to securing an ultimate escape route the moment a conflict began to brew. It was a conditioned reflex, a lingering symptom of the Apocalypse.

Seeing Gu Weilan scoff without following up, Xie Jinglan continued in a slow, deliberate tone. "Since Xie Jing is already with you and even has a cub, shouldn’t you form a bond and complete the Engraving with him? This is your duty as a female."

Gu Weilan raised an eyebrow. She couldn’t help but wonder if this woman was really just here to plead on behalf of her cub. Was she just acting poorly and speaking without thinking because her concern for her son had clouded her judgment?

Just as Gu Weilan’s hostility thawed a fraction, Xie Jinglan spoke again. "As your in-laws, we don’t mind that you’re an orphan who can’t bring any benefits to our Xie Jing.

"The Xie Family, as the strongest Sea Clan of the West Coast—the West Coast Dolphin Clan—is willing to protect you. Just hand over the Cultivation Liquid formula to our family, and we’ll manage it properly for you."

"HAH!" Gu Weilan laughed out loud, utterly exasperated.

What a classic case of revealing one’s true colors!

Was she here to fleece her out of everything she owned?

Gu Weilan was actually planning to give each of her Beast Husbands a female cub so that her offspring could inherit all the Beast Clan wealth from their respective families! Now here came a piece of work with the exact same scheme, knocking right on her front door to spit in her face?

Wow.

At least Gu Weilan had contributed a lot before daring to dream that her bloodline could inherit someone else’s fortune. But Xie Jinglan? She hadn’t offered a single thing, yet she had the sheer audacity to just reach out and demand it?

Zhan Heng’s face was exceptionally grim. However, Xie Jing’s expression was even worse.

Xie Jinglan didn’t feel shameless in the slightest. She even extended an invitation to the Shi Family. "I know the Shi Family primarily deals in military materials. However, we can cooperate to help these young children look after their business.

"They’re too young to handle it on their own."

Grandma Shi spoke up to ask, "Oh? How do you plan to help the younger generation look after their business? And how do you intend to cooperate with our Shi Family?"

Shi Lingfeng couldn’t help but look at his grandmother, but she merely shot him a look that told him to stay calm.

Xie Jinglan stated bluntly, "We can have my daughter-in-law sign the exclusive authorization over to us. Since this is an initiative led by our West Coast Dolphin Clan, we will take seventy percent, and the Shi Family will take thirty percent. Of course, we’ll jointly fund the construction of the production lines.

"My daughter-in-law will only need to sit at home and count her money. She’ll hold twenty-five percent of the tech shares. That’s already the highest possible percentage for tech shares. If you don’t believe me, you can look it up on the Star Network."

"Host, I’ve noticed she is treating you like an absolute moron," the system chimed in.

"Keep quiet. I’m so angry I’m about to laugh," she thought back.

Right at this moment, the Pharmacy Professor arrived at Gu Weilan’s home with a squad of academy guards.

Just as they knocked and were preparing to breach the entrance, the robot butler opened the door.

The Pharmacy Professor led the charge, storming in with a special-grade material shield that was taller than he was. Seeing that everyone was still seated peacefully, he breathed a sigh of relief.

Xie Jinglan’s lips twitched awkwardly. She stood up and smiled at the Pharmacy Professor. "You must be the professor who was just on the Light Brain call with my daughter-in-law, right? My daughter-in-law was just joking with you..."

Gu Weilan had no intention of saving face for her and directly cut her off. "Professor, thank goodness you’re here. If you hadn’t come, I wouldn’t have dared to speak up.

"I don’t know what kind of underhanded methods this ridiculous piece of work used to sneak into our academy. But the moment she got here, she demanded I sign the exclusive rights of the Cultivation Liquid patent over to her, or sell it to her outright.

"She’s treating me like a fool. What should I do? She even brought along several old geezers past the tenth rank to glare at me like a pack of wolves! To think I could be ambushed right inside my own home while living on campus! My goodness!

"I haven’t even given the exclusive patent rights to the academy yet! Could it be that the academy sent these people to make me suffer so I’d go crawling back to them? That can’t be, right? I was just starting to make some headway on further improving the original Cultivation Liquid! I don’t even know what to do anymore!"

The ring of hair around the Pharmacy Professor’s balding head practically bristled with fury.

He waved his hand emphatically. "Impossible! Ab—solutely impossible! The academy would never do such a thing! We help our students apply for countless patents! Every year, so many applications go through us.

"The academy understands the immense value of talent. We could never resort to such idiotic, short-sighted, self-destructive, and underhanded tricks! You, the female Gu Weilan, must place more trust in us!

"We’ve already signed a cooperation contract with you, so we would never pull any of this nonsense!"

Looking as frail and helpless as could be, Gu Weilan gazed up at the Pharmacy Professor and the Agronomy Professor with deep admiration and nodded. "Hearing you say that puts my mind at ease, Professor.

"Since the academy didn’t do this, it means these lunatics sought me out on their own because they’re greedy, shameless, and self-righteous enough to covet my patent!

"In that case, the academy will protect me, right?"

The Pharmacy Professor took a huge stride forward, though he never let go of the transparent shield in his hand. He hurried to sit between Gu Weilan and Zhan Heng, using the shield to protect all three of them.

Comforting Gu Weilan, he declared, "Don’t be afraid, cub! Your teacher will protect you!"
