My Superpower Leads Me to Murderers
Chapter 446: Planting a Bomb on the Ship
Chapter 446: Chapter 446: Planting a Bomb on the Ship
Zoe Sawyer moved slowly along the edge of the cruise ship, allowing Heath Hale and the others to use her speed to pinpoint the vessel’s location while filming the surroundings.
As they watched the guards patrolling back and forth on the cruise ship’s deck, the expressions on Zoe Sawyer’s and the others’ faces grew grimmer.
There was an armed man posted every five paces. Combined with all the other guards, it was no wonder these people were so brazen.
Unless they were going up against a naval warship, even pirates would have a hard time touching them.
"They have a lot of men and are fully equipped. Taking them down won’t be easy," Heath Hale said, his expression grave as he watched more people continuously board the ship.
This wasn’t a problem that could be solved just by calling in more backup.
Just trying to avoid these guards and covertly rescue the hostages was a monumental task in itself.
"When it’s time to ask for help, you can’t hesitate." Barry Quinn dialed his former superior’s number, explained the current situation clearly, and explicitly stated that they needed assistance.
The director had already told them to do whatever was necessary.
"No problem. We’ll need Sawyer to bring those five back soon anyway, so you all can just come over together." Upon hearing Barry Quinn’s request, the former chief replied without hesitation, "My people are specialists, and we have enough firepower. Sawyer’s abilities can certainly be put to better use here."
Barry Quinn didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he looked to Heath Hale and the others, asking for their input with his eyes.
Heath Hale and Sean Hughes nodded in agreement without hesitation.
Just as the man had said, they were more specialized in this kind of operation, and their armory was more comprehensive than their own.
Zoe Sawyer had no objections either. Her job was to open the "door," so she could do it from anywhere.
Besides, more professional colleagues on the mission meant more people could be saved, and the chance of casualties would be lower.
How could Zoe Sawyer possibly refuse such a good thing?
As for the others, they had even fewer objections, all nodding in agreement with the decision.
There was no time to lose. Heath Hale gave the director a brief report on their next course of action.
Immediately after, once the five rescued undercover agents had their wounds briefly treated and were sent back to the office, Zoe Sawyer opened a door and brought everyone from their office to the other side.
The chief on the other side was already prepared.
The moment they came through, the five wounded agents were sent to a designated hospital for more professional treatment.
The chief, meanwhile, was standing by the "door." When he saw Zoe Sawyer, he shook her hand. "You’ve worked hard, Sawyer. Leave the rest to us."
"We are, after all, the professionals for this sort of thing. With our two teams cooperating, we can definitely resolve this perfectly."
Zoe Sawyer looked through the window at the training ground, which was filled with people, and asked with some confusion, "Chief, is everyone here going?"
’They should have plenty of their own missions.’
The chief noticed Zoe Sawyer’s puzzled look and explained, "Of course not. We can’t just pull people who are currently on missions. These are all the personnel who are available right now."
"I’ve postponed the less urgent missions. Right now, yours is the top priority."
Not to mention, the notoriously evil "Big Sis" and several of the chief’s own targets were all on that ship.
Now that they had a chance to capture them all in one fell swoop, they certainly couldn’t miss it!
Zoe Sawyer nodded and didn’t dwell on it. She focused her attention back on the situation on the cruise ship, letting Heath Hale and the others communicate with the chief.
’The situation is what it is,’ she thought. ’They can’t just abandon the hostages on the cruise ship, so wiping out the enemy in one go is for the best!’
"According to the intel we’ve gathered, the cruise ship owner’s invited guests haven’t all arrived yet. There’s also another batch of hostages on their way."
"So I suggest we hold our position for now, figure out the identities of the people boarding later, and then formulate a plan of action," Heath Hale relayed to the chief.
But this presented a problem.
The later arrivals would surely bring their own security teams. The ship was already heavily staffed; if another group arrived, the difficulty of the rescue mission would increase yet again.
And there was another crucial point: to save the five wounded agents’ lives, they had already removed them from the cruise ship.
What if the man who captured them suddenly had a whim to show off his "trophies" to Big Sis ahead of schedule and discovered the men had already been rescued?
He would definitely order a massive search of the cruise ship, which would seriously hinder their subsequent actions.
They needed a solid plan to deal with all these potential scenarios.
While Heath Hale and the others were discussing countermeasures, Zoe Sawyer, who was using the door to survey the ship for weaknesses, noticed something was wrong.
’Why are these new people boarding in pairs, carrying heavy boxes onto the ship?’
Seeing their cautious movements and the looks of terror on their faces, Zoe Sawyer had a sudden, bad feeling.
’Could these be... something highly destructive?’
’Like bombs?’
Zoe Sawyer quickly maneuvered the door to follow them.
Soon, she had followed the group down to the bottom of the cruise ship’s hull.
She watched as they took bombs out of the boxes and carefully planted them near the fuel and engine compartments.
’Why are they planting bombs here? Are they trying to destroy the ship?’
Before Zoe Sawyer could call anyone, she heard one of them ask, "Boss, why does the owner want the bombs planted here? If one of these accidentally goes off, won’t the whole ship be destroyed?"
"Losing the ship on the high seas is not a good thing."
’Aren’t we just cornering ourselves into a dead end?’
The middle-aged man standing nearby, supervising the work, chuckled at the question, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Our boss is a coward who’s terrified of death. He’d never stay on a dangerous ship like this for long."
"If someone wasn’t hot on his tail, this whole event would never have happened. Just get on with it. The sooner we finish rigging this, the sooner we can get out of here."
’All this is for those big-shot clients.’
Thinking of the mission he’d been given, the sarcastic look on the middle-aged man’s face deepened.
The younger man just felt that something was off. He scratched his head but continued with his work.
’Whatever,’ he thought. ’It’s not like I’m the one getting blown up. The boss can rig it however he wants.’
The others who had been eavesdropping also sped up. They didn’t dare linger there.
’Let’s just get this done and get back!’
Zoe Sawyer waved Sean Hughes over to watch with her, just in case there was something she might have missed.
Heath Hale and the others glanced in Zoe Sawyer’s direction. Seeing that nothing seemed immediately wrong, they went back to discussing their plan of action.
In less than half an hour, all the bombs had been planted.
"Let’s go. The boss has a boat waiting for us on the other side."
