"Brother, please don’t lock me in here again, okay? You just saw how those people all wanted to harm me. After you left, they kept bullying me. Brother, take me away from here, I don’t want to stay here anymore."

Elias Hale pushed Hana away, looking at her with disappointment, not understanding how his sister suddenly became like this, resorting to any means to achieve her goals. He thought her previous actions were because she wasn’t in a good place emotionally. But now it seems that’s not the case at all. Hana isn’t the Hana she used to be; she’s changed.

"Don’t call me brother anymore. I’ll have someone send you back home. Once you’re back with The Hale Family, don’t come back here," Elias said, turning around.

"No, brother, I don’t want to go back. I want to stay here. As long as you don’t leave, I won’t leave."

"You have no choice. You must go back," Eliass spoke up.

"Brother, you’ll regret this. You will definitely regret treating me like this," Hana screamed.

Elias Hale walked out of the hospital room, leaning against the wall, somewhat helpless. Hana has been ill since she was young, fainting several times, which is why he’s always been especially fond of this sister. Yet he never expected she would turn out like this.

Melody Thorne and Elias Hale watched as Hana boarded the plane, confirming she really went back home.

"Alright, go back and be with your Selina Sloan," Melody Thorne said, but then thought of something else. "By the way, you know if someone is under the influence of drugs, the poison others are talking about, it’s very likely they would prefer death over living. But why is it that someone showed no reaction after taking such a drug?"

Elias Hale stopped, turning his head to look at her, "Did you take drugs?"

Melody Thorne said, "No, I’m talking about someone else. Someone told me she took drugs but didn’t feel a thing."

"Let’s go back to the hospital. I’ll check you out again," Elias Hale didn’t take her explanation seriously.

"Are you that sure I took drugs?"

"How would you know if someone else felt anything if they took drugs?"

"Someone told me."

"Don’t deny it—you can use that excuse to trick someone else, but it won’t fool my eyes."

Melody Thorne said, "Alright, but I don’t want to go to the hospital."

"Doesn’t Jared Quinn know?"

"I’m afraid he’d worry, so I haven’t told him,"

Elias gave her a long look and confirmed to himself the saying, a woman’s heart is a needle in the sea.

"Come on, let’s go to my place, I’ll do a blood test."

"Can you not sound so scary?"

Elias Hale is a doctor, so his settled home has some simple equipment. Melody Thorne let him draw some blood, glancing around the walls and finally landing on that wedding photo, instantly recognizing who the two people in it were.

"You and Selina Sloan were married before?" Melody Thorne exclaimed.

"Yes," Elias Hale replied, "That was taken before we got married. She went missing two days before our wedding."

"Then you must not have been a competent boyfriend; otherwise, how could you let your fiancée disappear right in front of you for so many years?" Melody Thorne clicked her tongue twice.

Elias Hale didn’t argue back, "You’re right in saying that. I indeed wasn’t a competent boyfriend."

He couldn’t even protect her; he never paid attention to Hana’s hostility toward her, which is why he and Selina Sloan missed so many years together.
