The phone in the living room rang a few times, the butler answered, and after a few words, handed the phone to Melody Thorne, "Madam, it’s for you!"

"Senator Gordon?"

"Miss Thorne, I didn’t expect you to be so patient. So? After playing me yesterday, do you feel particularly happy now? Do you think you’ve won?" came Senator Gordon’s low chuckle from the other end.

"Do you think the drug you gave my mom can stump Leon Rivers and Dr. Mo? You’re being too arrogant!" Melody Thorne’s eyes gleamed coldly.

"Miss Thorne, whether or not it stumps them, you should be very aware by now, so there’s no need for me to say anything further. I’m not being arrogant, but I can tell you that only I have the antidote for the drug I used; no one else can cure it. That’s it for what I have to say. If you want Mrs. Sila to be safe and sound, you’ll have to come alone to get the antidote. Oh, and you should know what I want, right?"

Melody Thorne clenched her phone, "Give me the address!"

"Miss Thorne is indeed a straightforward person. I like dealing with straightforward people," Senator Gordon chuckled lowly. "I’ll send the address to you shortly. I hope to see you within two hours!"

The call ended, and Melody Thorne’s phone quickly received a text with the address she needed to go to.

"Melody, what did he say?" Mrs. Sila lay weakly on the couch. The recent attack nearly knocked her out, and fear still lingered in her eyes.

"He told me to bring the transfer order to meet him!" Melody Thorne put down her phone. "I’m heading over right now."

"You can’t go alone," Jared Quinn opposed.

"That’s right, sis-in-law, you can’t go by yourself. Senator Gordon has reached this stage mostly because of you, and he knows that. I’m afraid he might do something crazy. You have to realize that when people are pushed too far, they can do anything!"

"Yes, Melody, I’m okay, really, I’m fine. It was just a momentary thing, and it passed. I’m your only daughter; you absolutely can’t go," Mrs. Sila said worriedly.

"Mom, all of you don’t worry. I have to go; there’s no other way. Don’t worry, I’m not like before. Senator Gordon won’t be able to harm me; I’ll come back unscathed!"

Melody Thorne wasn’t planning to give the transfer order to that senator at all!

"No!" Jared Quinn said firmly through pursed lips.

"We’ll figure out another way regarding the antidote," he continued.

"Yes, sis-in-law, we’ll think of other ways to get the antidote. Don’t worry," Leon added.

"Why do you all doubt my abilities so much?" Melody Thorne crossed her arms and stared at the two men in front of her. "Didn’t you see I already subdued Jenson Ona? As for Senator Gordon, I don’t even consider him a threat!"

"Sis-in-law, you managed the situation with Jenson Ona because you used some clever tricks. If it were a one-on-one, you’d be finished!" Leon Rivers pointed out.

"The point is, in these matters, there’s no need for a one-on-one! Sometimes, winning requires wit!"

Melody Thorne scoffed, "Alright, it’s decided. I’ll drive there myself!"

As soon as she finished speaking, a large hand grabbed her arm and pulled her into an embrace. "Leave it to Leon Rivers and Harold Chapman. Stay home and wait," Jared Quinn said.

"Jared Quinn!" Melody Thorne tried to push him away with both hands. Everyone was there, and he just blatantly held her on his lap.
