My Super Sassy Dad: Stop Running Away, Mrs. Quinn!
Chapter 1047 - 1050: Beating Them Up Ruthlessly
"I don’t think it’s a small request. Old Night doesn’t make masks for just anyone. Besides, he won’t even teach his own descendants how to make human-skin masks, let alone me."
Old Night studied her for a moment. Trading one mask for an enemy’s life—nothing was more worthwhile to him than that.
"All right, I agree. When are you sending that person over?"
"In the next couple of days. I need to discuss it with the Seymour Family first. And I need you to keep it secret that I’m bringing someone here to trade with you, Old Night," Melody Thorne said. "Especially from that Councilman Gu—the one I’m aiming to take down now is him."
"Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone." Old Night waved his hand, signaling everyone to leave.
"I must have scared you just now. Want to go out and have a couple of cups of my good tea?"
"No need. We’ll head back first, we’ll come visit another day," Jared Quinn said.
"Fine, I’ll see you out. If it’s inconvenient to come to me, here’s my number. My people will answer it, so you won’t have to go to the trouble of running back and forth." Old Night’s gaze toward Melody Thorne softened a little.
"Thank you, Old Night." Melody Thorne took the business card.
Back at the Quinn Family estate, they received news from Harold Chapman: the previous frame-up against The Hawthorne Family hadn’t held, so the Hawthorne brothers had already been released.
"Where are they now? Did they go back to The Hawthorne Family?" Melody Thorne asked.
"No, I’m still keeping them locked up at my place. Before we let them out, Young Master Jared said to teach them a lesson. First, it’ll make them keep their mouths shut and stop talking nonsense. Second, once people see they’re badly injured, they’ll naturally start suspecting Councilman Gu," Harold Chapman explained.
"Then give them a proper beating. Ona clearly didn’t hit hard enough last time. This time, keep going until they know they were wrong."
"Got it, I’ll pass the word down."
"Sis-in-law, whose face are you planning to have made?" Leon Rivers asked.
"I’m helping The Hawthorne Family right now, of course I have to get rid of Councilman Gu. Besides, he’s the one who stuck that hat on The Hawthorne Family. So I’m thinking of starting with someone close to him—preferably the person closest to him. But I’m still wondering who to have impersonate. Councilman Gu comes from the military; his powers of observation are definitely sharp. I’m afraid we’ll get found out."
"No need to target the person closest to him." Jared Quinn reached over and rubbed her head. "As long as it’s someone who’s with him every day, that’s enough. A bodyguard, for example, would be less likely to blow our cover. From what I know, the person closest to him is pretty greedy. Just cozy up to him and give him some money. They’re all people around Councilman Gu anyway, so it won’t arouse suspicion."
"You could’ve just said that. Why do you have to keep rubbing my head?" Melody Thorne shot him a disgruntled look, feeling like he was deliberately imitating the way she petted a puppy.
"It’s fun," Jared Quinn said blandly.
Melody Thorne: "..."
"Pfft." The butler couldn’t hold back a chuckle.
"All right, all right, we’re heading out too." Leon Rivers got up with Chloe Summers in his arms. Before, he hadn’t dared hold her; now the more he held her, the more natural it felt.
Chloe Summers had noticed too. She’d struggled several times in a row but still couldn’t escape Leon Rivers’s big hand, and just ended up half-held against him as they walked out.
Only when Melody Thorne took out her phone did she realize Selina Sloan had called her several times in a row. It looked like she needed her urgently.
She called back immediately.
"Selina?"
"Miss Thorne..." Selina Sloan’s voice came through, laced with helpless sobs.
"What happened?"
