Chapter 1011 - 1014: This Little Troublemaker Did It on Purpose

"After you locked her up, she managed to escape from the hospital. I had people look into her whereabouts. She should have already gone abroad by now." Elias Hale’s gaze was complicated and full of anger!

Two military vehicles stopped in front of Melody Thorne. A soldier got out. "Miss Thorne, please come with us."

"Who are you?" Elias Hale stepped in front of Melody Thorne.

"Miss Thorne, don’t worry, I won’t lay a hand on you. We work for Councilor Gu. He asked us to bring you over; there are some matters regarding The Hawthorne Family he’d like to ask you about. You don’t need to be nervous!"

"Ask about The Hawthorne Family? Wouldn’t it be better for you to ask Donovan Hawthorne and Wallace Hawthorne? I’m with the Quinn Family, not The Hawthorne Family. Whatever’s going on with them, how would I know?"

"Miss Thorne, please don’t make things difficult for us."

"Forget it. Elias Hale, help me send Timmy back to the Quinn Family. I’ll go with them." Melody Thorne spoke up.

"No, I’m going with you. My dad told me I must protect you." Timmy gripped Melody Thorne’s hand, the lollipop Elias Hale had just given him still in his mouth.

"You can go. Jared should be here soon." Elias Hale said pointedly.

The car stopped at a hotel. The entire place had already been surrounded. Melody Thorne followed them inside. In a hotel room, Councilor Gu stood at the window. When he turned around, he revealed a middle-aged man of about forty.

"Miss Thorne, please sit!"

Melody Thorne sat on the sofa with Timmy, looking quite casual. "You must be Councilor Gu, right? I heard you wanted to ask me about The Hawthorne Family? I think you’ve probably come to the wrong person. No one knows their family affairs better than they do themselves."

Councilor Gu sat down opposite her, his sharp eyes scrutinizing her. "The reason I invited you here today, Miss Thorne, is to confirm one thing. I received information that the last person Weston Hawthorne saw before he died was you?"

"Uncle, are you interrogating a criminal right now?" Timmy leaned back on the sofa, his exquisitely carved little face unnaturally calm. "My dad says only people who’ve done something wrong get questioned like this. Weren’t we invited here by you? Then we should be guests, right?"

Councilor Gu narrowed his eyes at Timmy’s little face. Clearly simmering with anger, he suddenly laughed. "The Quinn Family’s little prince really does have guts. But do you know? The more you have pride and courage at such a young age, the easier it is for people to target you. For example, the candy you’re eating now—it looks delicious, but maybe countless people have their eyes on it."

Timmy hooked the candy out of his mouth, still slick with saliva. "You like candy too? It’s fine, if you like it you can just say so. I don’t get possessive over food. It’s yours!"

She held back a laugh. This little rascal was doing it on purpose.

This kind of childish behavior couldn’t really make Councilor Gu lose his temper, but it still basically slapped him in the face. Serves him right for annoying our young master Timmy.

Councilor Gu narrowed his eyes. "Listen up."

"Miss Thorne, he’s right. I didn’t invite you here today to interrogate you, I only want to understand the situation a bit better." Councilor Gu said.
