Chapter 259: System Upgrades After the Third Evolution

Nova’s eyes opened as he woke. Instantly everything surfaced in his mind — the long, intense session with his wives.

They went many rounds. Nova lost count of how many times he filled his wives, taking them in every position until none of them could take any more.

Nyxara lasted the longest. He made sure each of them was satisfied before he finally stopped, and afterward he felt clearer and more refreshed than he had in a long time.

He turned his head. All of them were still asleep around him. Rieka lay on his right, pressed against his side. Nyxara was on his left. Asia slept near his head. He was in the middle of the bed, and Liya was on him, watching him without saying anything.

They were still naked. Their bare bodies were pressed around him, soft and warm, yet every one of them looked completely content and satisfied. Nova was the same. He was back in his human form.

"So how long was it this time?" he asked. He hadn’t kept track of the time while he was in that state.

{Four days,} Liya replied with a smile.

"Hmm....By the way, don’t you sleep or anything?"

{I do, but not as long as you... so I watch you sleep most of the time.}

"And you enjoy that?" Nova asked. He hadn’t known that.

{I do...} Liya replied as she blushed. Nova was surprised to see her blush for the first time. Then he remembered — her third upgrade had completed.

{Yes, it’s completed, and I feel a lot different now.}

"Like in what sense?" he asked. He wanted to know what else had changed.

{I feel like my emotions have gotten deeper. I can think more like a normal being. And more than that... I can be more selfish now,} Liya continued.

Nova was a little surprised by the changes, yet he was happier that the progress had increased so much — and this was only the third upgrade.

He still didn’t know how many upgrades remained for the quest he had received from that unknown being. Most likely the creator of Liya. He didn’t think much further on it. He still wasn’t strong enough to dwell on those beings without a headache.

{You shouldn’t force it. Even I don’t know how much I’ve changed. I only told you what seemed apparent to me. Other than me... other things have also changed.}

"Hm... tell me," Nova said, curious about the other upgrades.

{Alright. First and foremost, the time dilation has increased to five years. Five years inside the system space would be only one day in the outside world.}

Nova’s eyes widened. The difference was that large. Then he thought about it — this was the third upgrade, and with every upgrade the changes became bigger.

He slowly sat up. Liya saw his intent and floated off him. He rose carefully, without waking his other wives, and left them to sleep longer.

Liya cleaned him and herself. They both dressed. Nova and Liya left the room and stepped outside. She created a couch for him and changed the scenery into a quiet, beautiful place with a river flowing by.

Then she sat on his lap, snuggled close against him, and continued the briefing on the upgrades. Nova loved how expressive she was becoming. He liked it very much.

{Yeah, the time difference is big... but it’s alright. Since I can stop the time dilation now, I can also change it. If you don’t like the big time difference, I’ll make it less. Five years is the limit.}

{You want to make it three years inside equal only one day outside? I can do that.}

"That’s really convenient," Nova said, genuinely amazed by this upgrade.

{Hm... it sure is.}

{Next... the capacity of people has increased to one hundred. Though I know it won’t be needed, as you aren’t going to allow many people here except for our family and friends.}

"You’re right about that," Nova said with a smile. Liya understood what he wanted and what he wouldn’t want, even though he hadn’t thought about it himself for her to know.

{My stay outside has become eight hours a day.}

"That’s pretty great. Though it’s not much, it’s still good. And you don’t have to worry. If you want, I can always come inside to be with you, even if your limit is already over for the day."

Liya knew Nova would do that, as he never said no to his wives unless he had no choice or was in a serious situation that prevented him from doing what he wanted.

So she didn’t worry about such things. Though she was happy that the time limit of her stay in the real world had increased, allowing her to spend more time with him and, of course, with her fellow wives.

Then she continued.

{Now you don’t have to touch anyone for them to come inside the System Space. If they are in contact with your Deadborns, they will be able to do that.}

{Because your Deadborns are a kind of extension of yourself, it will work.}

"That would really be great. I won’t have to worry about being away from them anymore. If they ever face any danger they can’t handle, they can enter the System Space."

Of course, for that to happen, Nova needed to place a Deadborn with every person he cared about.

{Yeah, but there is one thing. If you are in some kind of isolated space or place, like the Abyss, even though the Abyss and Astrae exist within the same plane, they are essentially different spaces.}

{Large spatial barriers separate them, which is also the reason why the Abyss has a completely different environment from Astrae.}

{My point is, Deadborns won’t be able to help others get into the System Space once you are in a different space, since the System is part of your very being. I wanted you to keep that in mind.}

Nova was surprised to learn that. But then again, her words made sense. Still, who knew? This was only the third upgrade. As the upgrades increased, perhaps it would eventually become possible.

{ I won’t deny that.}

{Next... your exit range has increased up to four kilometres.}

The exit range was the ability Nova had used to save himself from the pressure of Demon Lord Raze by entering the System Space and exiting at another location.

It looked like a spatial skill, yet it wasn’t, since no spatial fluctuation was caused by it. If observed closely, it looked more like a Void skill, but Nova was simply entering the System Space and exiting at a different point.

Previously, the range had only been one kilometre, and now it had increased to four kilometres.

It wasn’t a massive increase, but it would be very useful when fighting enemies who were multiple times stronger than him, as had already been proven during his encounters with Kharos and Caelan.

Nova was happy to know about this upgrade, as it would reduce his disadvantage when fighting stronger opponents.

More upgrades were related to the System Store. Its slots had increased, and now Nova could even buy Bloodlines and Physiques, though all the prices were astronomical, which made sense.

Yes, he could buy them before, but after the second upgrade, the available ranks of Bloodlines and Physiques had been low. Now, they had increased up to the Divine Rank.

As for treasures, they had reached the Celestial Rank, and the prices were just as astronomical.

At first, Nova thought the System Store was pretty useless. But then Liya explained that there were countless things in the universe that were invaluable, whether they were Bloodlines, Physiques, or treasures.

They were fundamental parts of a being’s strength, so it made sense that their prices were high. And he could still buy many things from the store at lower prices that wouldn’t directly increase his strength but could help him in many ways.

And who knew? If he got another free coupon, he could buy anything he wanted from the store for free.

So, the System Store wasn’t really useless, and he still had the Gacha. His luck wouldn’t always be bad. And now that he had faced such dangers, perhaps his luck had even increased.

Nova understood Liya’s words. She had a point, after all.

Nova wasn’t in need of Bloodlines or Physiques, as he already had a powerful Bloodline and Physique. He also rarely used the System Store, only buying simple things that cost fewer Evolution Points.
