My Professions Have Too Much Personality
Chapter 626 - 341: Blazing Resonance Thunder Priest, Spying in the Dark
Ten drops. This was the amount Su Chen had estimated. Whether it would actually be enough remained unknown.
But he couldn’t just keep hoarding them indefinitely; he needed to set a specific target.
"Hmm... Last time, I gave the Faceless Ghost an advance of three drops in exchange for intelligence on the Sun. I definitely need to give him a response," Su Chen calculated. "I definitely can’t tell him about the Ancient King’s departure. If that guy harbors ulterior motives and sneaks in like Black Tuo did, it will be trouble. I’ll have to approach this from another angle and find a way to fabricate some information for him."
Dealing with the Faceless Ghost was far more troublesome than dealing with Black Tuo. At this thought, he actually missed Old Hei a bit.
"I wonder if Old Hei, currently in his slumber, will be able to sense the purification of the mid-level Fog Ashes this time."
His mind wandered slightly. If he couldn’t gather enough, he would have no choice but to find a way to extract more from other Deceitful Gods.
The thought made Su Chen somewhat resistant. "I’ll see how it goes. If all else fails, I’ll requisition another drop or two from the Sect. Dealing with these Deceitful Gods is truly mentally exhausting, especially having to account for each of their unique personalities."
The only source of Divine Blood was the Deceitful Gods. Su Chen had originally thought it would take a very long time to gather all ten drops, but the four drops returned to him by the Purifier would truly save him a massive amount of time.
Deep in thought, Su Chen stepped out of the training room. He prepared to head to the Copper Heart to requisition the next Main Profession he needed for his advancement from the Spirit Hall.
However, just as he arrived at the port, he saw a Flying Device heading straight toward him from afar.
"Who’s looking for me?" Su Chen wondered in mild surprise.
He waited at the port for a moment before the Flying Device docked. The cabin door opened, and a familiar figure stepped out, his face wreathed in smiles. "Mr. Su Chen."
Su Chen couldn’t help but be surprised. The person who had arrived was none other than Steward Zhong from the Spirit Hall, Zhong Chengyu.
"Steward Zhong, why are you here? Didn’t you say you would wait for me at the Spirit Hall?"
"There’s no need for you to make the trip personally," Zhong Chengyu hastily replied. "Whatever you need, I am here to await your orders."
Su Chen couldn’t help but chuckle. He had only just sent Zhong Chengyu a message not long ago; he hadn’t expected the man to rush over so directly.
After a moment of thought, Su Chen couldn’t help but ask, "Aren’t we forbidden from requisitioning professions outside the Spirit Hall?"
The data wasn’t stored in the Stewards’ brains. They had to use their clearance to filter and requisition it through the system.
Every requisition required a recorded filing, and they weren’t allowed to independently access and take the data out. The Bronze Sect was incredibly strict in tracking such matters.
"Rules are dead, but people are alive," Zhong Chengyu said mysteriously. "The Hall Master specially granted me clearance, allowing me to connect to the Spirit Hall right here and requisition the profession you need, sir."
"The Hall Master? Hall Master Wen Jing?" Su Chen asked, feeling slightly puzzled. He wondered to himself if this was Qin Yun’s brother-in-law.
Zhong Chengyu seemed to see through Su Chen’s thoughts. He took a few steps forward and lowered his voice. "Actually, the relationship between Hall Master Wen and Venerable Qin Yun isn’t all that great.
"Back when Hall Master Wen first joined the Sect, he was a man of striking appearance and extremely high Talent. That was why Venerable Qin Yun’s sister took a liking to him and pursued him fiercely. However, Hall Master Wen didn’t accept and coldly rejected her."
Zhong Chengyu spoke expressively, throwing his hands up in a helpless gesture. "But who could have known that the young lady would insist on forcing the issue?
"Hall Master Wen didn’t hail from a prominent family within the Sect; he came from a minor family that Commanded a certain planet. Although he disliked Venerable Qin Yun’s sister, he had no choice. At that time, Venerable Qin Yun was already preparing her advancement to the Morning Star Tier.
"Hall Master Wen’s resistance vanished into thin air the moment Venerable Qin Yun successfully advanced to the Morning Star Tier," Zhong Chengyu added with a hint of lamentation. "He was forced to marry into the Qin family. For many years, he has actually felt deeply unfulfilled."
As Zhong Chengyu gave him this explanation, Su Chen remained noncommittal. The story was likely true to some extent, and he could probably find a few elders to verify it.
But whether this Hall Master Wen had genuinely resisted back then, or whether he was simply playing hard to get—retreating to advance while waiting for Qin Yun to reach the Morning Star Tier before jumping on board—no one really knew.
Now, it wasn’t unlikely that he saw Qin Yun’s power waning and wanted to abandon ship.
However, Su Chen recalled that when he had first arrived at the Bronze Sect and requisitioned the Holy Profession, Permanent Body, it was this very Hall Master Wen who had guided him.
At the time, the man hadn’t made things difficult for him at all. Thinking of this, he simply chimed in, "Hall Master Wen is indeed a tragic figure."
Hearing this, Zhong Chengyu relaxed significantly, repeatedly agreeing, "Yes, indeed."
Knowing when to stop, Zhong Chengyu didn’t drag the topic out any further.
Su Chen invited him into the reception room. Looking utterly flattered, Zhong Chengyu accepted the tea Su Chen handed him with both hands. He set it on the table before asking, "What profession are you looking to requisition this time, sir?"
"The same as before. Find me two Tier Seven Main Professions. Any Upper-tier Professions that align with the path of the Great Venerable Red Flame Thunder Resonator will do," Su Chen said lightly.
Zhong Chengyu was already accustomed to such requests. He turned on his portable smart device, and shortly after, pulled up two professions, projecting them side by side.
"Take a look, sir. How about these two? The Universe Incinerating Slaughterer and the Heavenly Punishment Priest..."
As Su Chen’s gaze swept over them, his interface reacted—
[...]
[Sensing your will, the Great Venerable Red Flame Thunder Resonator lowers his gaze. Crimson flames descend. The Universe Incinerating Slaughterer and the Heavenly Punishment Priest suffer a catastrophic blow, forcibly smelted together and entwined with two portions of High Tier Black Tuo, Faceless Ghost, Crimson, and Cunning Fox Divine Power.]
[Tier Seven Top Level Fusion Profession discovered: Scorching Resonant Thunder Priest. You may assume this profession upon completing the requirements.]
[Profession Requirement 1: Elevate three different Body Refining and Meditation Techniques to the Master Level.]
[Profession Requirement 2: Spend at least one year conversing with basic Thunder-Fire Elements beside natural thunderstorms and scorching volcanoes, gaining the ability to vaguely perceive the "emotions" of the Thunder-Fire Elements in the environment.]
