My Professions Have Too Much Personality
Chapter 618 - 337: Forging the Permanent Body
Su Chen paid no mind to the pained expression on Wei Zhenghong’s face, musing to himself, ’Requisitioning Divine Blood is much easier than I thought. Should I try to get some more?’
For a Divine Dawn Talent to Melt a Holy Profession, five drops of Divine Blood was the standard amount, whether within the Bronze Sect or any other faction. To avoid complications and potential audits, he had only requested five drops initially.
But Chang Youqi hadn’t pressed the issue, which gave Su Chen an idea.
The Sun Residual Fire had an immense need for Divine Blood. If he could get his hands on some more, that would be excellent.
"Setting other things aside, are you really about to advance to Tier Seven?" Wei Zhenghong couldn’t hold back his curiosity and asked a question Su Chen could more easily answer.
"Not for a while. Like I said, I’m just preparing in advance," Su Chen shrugged.
Wei Zhenghong looked unconvinced. ’Who prepares this far in advance?’
Calculating the time... He clicked his tongue. ’Don’t tell me this guy is going to reach Tier Seven before the Peak Star Conference elimination rounds even begin.’
’With this guy’s power, if he uses that Holy Profession of his after reaching Tier Seven...’ The thought alone startled Wei Zhenghong.
"Are you really a Divine Dawn?" Wei Zhenghong was truly skeptical. Even for a Divine Dawn Talent, this speed was a little too fast.
He speculated, "Don’t tell me you have one of those True Radiance Level Talents? I heard Venerable Red Sun was the descendant of some Ancient King."
"No way." Su Chen shook his head. Ever since he had evolved into Twin Divine Dawns, everyone had assumed he must have some of Venerable Red Sun’s bloodline.
Seeing this, Wei Zhenghong didn’t press further, his eyes flickering as if lost in thought.
Requisitioning the Divine Blood took a little longer than Su Chen had expected.
After waiting for nearly half an hour, Chang Youqi returned carrying a silver metal case.
"Five drops of Divine Blood. It’s all here."
With a low hum, Chang Youqi opened the case. Inside, nestled in form-fitting slots, were five fist-sized black metal spheres, identical to the one Qing Cang had given him last time.
He then closed the case and handed it to Su Chen.
"Thank you, Supervisor Chang." Su Chen took the case and offered his thanks.
"You’re too polite, Junior Master." Chang Youqi waved his hand and reiterated, "Since Junior Master Qing Cang approved it, I am simply following orders."
Su Chen’s eyes glinted. He followed up with a smile, "Besides these five drops, Senior Brother Qing Cang also promised me a few more. Who knows how long it’ll be before he gets back? Why don’t you just requisition them all for me now, Supervisor Chang?"
Chang Youqi’s expression froze, and he seemed a little helpless. "Five drops of Divine Blood is the established precedent for Melting a Holy Profession. If you request more, it will be difficult to justify in the ledger."
"Besides," he added, "you can’t be in that much of a hurry, can you, Junior Master?"
His tone carried a subtle hint. In truth, he had no idea if Qing Cang had actually given his approval or not.
But Su Chen was no longer just an ordinary Star Seed. Since he had come using Qing Cang’s name to requisition Divine Blood for Melting a Holy Profession, there was precedent.
There was no need for him to press the matter and risk offending someone.
If it was true, he would have needlessly damaged a relationship. Even if it was false, Su Chen might get a reprimand. And if things went further and some discrepancy was discovered, what would he possibly gain from it all?
It was better to just turn a blind eye. Besides, there wasn’t much risk for him in this process.
However, Su Chen suddenly asking for more was a different matter. The extra Divine Blood would have to be accounted for, and to do that, he would have to investigate the matter more thoroughly.
"Alright." Seeing the situation, Su Chen didn’t push it. It was just a shame. He had been too cautious at the start, not asking for eight or ten drops right off the bat.
But then he had another thought. ’Even if I’d asked for ten drops from the beginning, this supervisor probably wouldn’t have given them to me.’
Melting a Holy Profession was a valid reason, one the supervisor could feign ignorance about. But if he asked for more, it would go beyond the scope of that excuse. Chang Youqi wouldn’t be able to play dumb anymore; he’d be forced to get to the bottom of it, whether he wanted to or not.
Seeing that Su Chen didn’t insist, Chang Youqi breathed a sigh of relief.
With the Divine Blood in hand, Su Chen grew antsy. After exchanging a few more pleasantries, he stood up to take his leave.
Chang Youqi escorted the two of them out of the logistics department. He watched them disappear from sight, his eyes shifting slightly. He then opened his Wristband, found Qing Cang’s contact information, and sent a message:
"Junior Master Qing Cang, Su Chen came to requisition five drops of Divine Blood per your orders, for the purpose of Melting a Holy Profession. I have already dispensed them to him and recorded it in the ledger."
After sending the message, Chang Youqi let out a long sigh of relief before turning to head back inside.
"Did you really get the Divine Blood to Melt a Holy Profession?"
On the way, Wei Zhenghong asked suspiciously. At first, he’d almost believed it, but after Chang Youqi brought back the five drops, Su Chen seemed to want more. That’s what made him suspicious.
"That stuff is no good, you know. Don’t get involved in any of those Deceitful God techniques."
He offered this as a warning. Divine Blood had a wide range of uses, and many rituals and techniques of the Deceitful Gods required it.
"What are you thinking? I’m not that stupid," Su Chen replied, shaking his head.
"Good, as long as you know." Wei Zhenghong left it at that.
The two arrived at the port, bid each other farewell, and returned to their respective Floating Islands.
With everything ready, Su Chen could no longer contain his anticipation. The moment he set foot on his Floating Island, he rushed back to his training room. The black containers holding the Divine Blood were lined up in a row before him.
He took a deep breath, feeling the incredible sturdiness of his body from becoming a Cauldron Maker. It had only been a few hours since he’d taken on the profession, and he was still getting used to it.
