Chapter 1475: Chapter 1472: Encountering Fellow Practitioners

Chen Tianlong casually picked a relatively conspicuous hotel with Wu Mengting and walked inside.

Business here seemed quite good, as the place was basically full. At first Chen Tianlong didn’t think much of it, but after he sat down and took a careful look around, he realized that everyone here was actually disciples from the various major sects of the Martial Arts world.

Wu Mengting had clearly noticed this as well. After Chen Tianlong sat down, he glanced to the side and suddenly saw a familiar face—it was Daoist Chen Dong of the Xing Mountain Sect.

By coincidence, Daoist Chen Dong also saw him. The two locked eyes for a moment, then Chen Dong suddenly stood up and walked over, somewhat excited.

"So it’s you, Chen Tianlong. Long time no see." Daoist Chen Dong said with a smile.

The nearby Sect Leaders and disciples from all the major sects heard this and all turned to look over. When they saw that Chen Tianlong had actually appeared here, they grew a little excited and started talking among themselves: "Isn’t that the Quasi-Alliance Leader? Everyone, hurry over and take a look."

Hearing this, Chen Tianlong could only give a wry smile. He admitted he had completely forgotten about the title of Quasi-Alliance Leader. Back then, when Martial Arts Alliance Leader Liu Jiangnan held a tournament to choose a new Alliance Leader, he had said that he would pass the position to Chen Tianlong. Later, because Chen Tianlong had to go to the Celestial Pill Sect to take part in the trials, Liu Jiangnan temporarily continued as Alliance Leader.

Now, Chen Tianlong had returned, so naturally he should assume the position of Alliance Leader.

It was just that Liu Jiangnan wasn’t here, so everyone was calling him Quasi-Alliance Leader for now.

"Quasi-Alliance Leader, how have you been? Ever since we parted at Qishan, everyone hasn’t seen you for a long time." The experts of the various sects all asked in unison.

"Heh, I hope everyone’s been well. It’s a long story; a lot has happened recently. I’ll tell you all slowly later." Chen Tianlong really wasn’t in the mood for small talk at the moment; the matter of Wu Guangzu was weighing heavily on his mind.

Chen Tianlong pondered for a moment, then decided to ask: "I heard that Senior Brother Wu... why did you all try to hunt him down?"

"Ah?"

When the crowd heard Chen Tianlong say this, they immediately thought of what had happened two days ago—they had joined forces to besiege Sect Leader Wu Guangzu of the Assassin Group. Now the man’s junior was here demanding an explanation, and none of them knew how to answer.

Kuang Chenggong had never imagined that Chen Tianlong was actually their Alliance Leader, so naturally he wouldn’t harbor any precautions against Chen Tianlong because of the Wu Guangzu incident.

As for Hao Shuai, he used to know about these matters, but later he’d simply forgotten this point.

"Chen Tianlong, actually... it was our fault. We shouldn’t have believed Hao Shuai. That day he gathered us together and said Wu Guangzu had fallen into Demonic Possession and was slaughtering innocents, and that he needed our help to besiege Young Master Wu."

The one speaking was Master Mie Wo. She had felt somewhat guilty about it earlier, but Hao Shuai had pushed the story hard, and she’d had no choice but to go along half-willingly, half-reluctantly.

"Hao Shuai? That brat again. Truly vile. It seems Hao Shuai has already been drawn in by Kuang Chenggong. Everyone, don’t believe a word he says. This man is insidious and ruthless. Last time at the Celestial Pill Sect he joined forces with Kuang Shengtian to try to harm us. Later he went to the Lingyun Pavilion Courtyard and even stole a Secret Manual..."

Chen Tianlong felt it was time to make Hao Shuai’s various misdeeds public.

After hearing this, everyone’s eyes widened, and both Mie Wo and Chen Dong felt a bit ashamed. They already knew some of these things, more or less, yet they had still trusted Hao Shuai too easily. Thinking back on it now, they regretted it immensely.

"Chen Tianlong, then what should we do? Wu Guangzu has already been captured by Kuang Chenggong. He may be in danger." Master Mie Wo said worriedly.

"Mm, I already guessed that. That great demon Kuang Chenggong’s goal is to make the Huaxia Martial Arts community slaughter one another. But he miscalculated one thing—that is, the relationship between me and all of you."

After parting ways with the Assassin Group, Chen Tianlong knew Kuang Chenggong would never let Wu Guangzu go. To Kuang Chenggong, anyone capable of matching him was a greatest threat, and Wu Guangzu was clearly someone who could fight him on equal terms.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go together and settle accounts with that demon Kuang Chenggong." The other martial artists began to discuss heatedly.

Chen Tianlong could only smile bitterly. In the Capital City, this was Kuang Shengtian’s territory. All of his elite forces and the surrounding defensive systems were extremely well arranged. If they rashly stirred up trouble here, they would definitely suffer for it.

"Everyone, listen to me. Before we have a complete plan, we mustn’t act rashly. You have to understand, this is Kuang Chenggong’s turf—we’re likely to come off worse."

Chen Tianlong continued, "Next, I think we should first slip into the palace and investigate the situation, then decide what to do."

"Mm, Chen Tianlong is meticulous in his thinking. I believe this is a good approach. Everyone should listen to Chen Tianlong for now and not act recklessly." Daoist Chen Dong was quite well respected; his words basically represented the consensus of the martial community.

Sure enough, after hearing him, everyone nodded, indicating their agreement with the plan.

Before long, the dishes were all served, and everyone returned to their own tables and began eating. Wu Mengting gave Chen Tianlong a faint smile and said nothing more. She knew there was little she could do in these matters and could only quietly stay by his side.

After the meal, Chen Tianlong booked a room with Wu Mengting. They were staying together, for a very simple reason: in the Capital City, danger lurked everywhere for them, and sharing a room made it easier to look after each other.

Although Wu Mengting’s strength was already quite formidable, there was still a gap compared to Kuang Chenggong, and besides, she was pregnant. Wu Mengting’s belly was slowly taking shape. It wasn’t very obvious yet, but at least one could tell she was an expectant mother.

Moreover, Kuang Chenggong had many Celestial Dao Seven Stars experts under him. So, Chen Tianlong decisively insisted on getting just one room. Wu Mengting still blushed a little; after all, he said it right in front of the boss. Girls have thin skin—once they’re shy, their face turns red, which made her all the more adorable.

The two of them planned to go to Kuang Shengtian’s manor that night, with the sole purpose of finding out Wu Guangzu’s situation.

Night fell quickly, and the two had rested enough. Using the cover of darkness, Chen Tianlong and Mengting set off toward Kuang Shengtian Celestial Palace, and in no time they landed beneath the city wall. By then the surroundings of Kuang Shengtian Celestial Palace were ablaze with lights, and there were still many guards at the gate, clearly showing how heavily guarded Kuang Shengtian’s estate was.

After watching for a while, the two of them simply rose into the air and leapt over to the other side in a single bound. But they had barely entered when a large patrol came by; Chen Tianlong grabbed Mengting and pulled her back, hiding them in a corner by the wall.

A few minutes later the patrol moved on, and the two slipped away like smoke to the side of Kuang Shengtian Celestial Palace. Inside, three people were leisurely drinking; Chen Tianlong immediately activated his Cultivation Technique, closed his eyes, and focused on the movements inside. Yet he still did not see any sign of Wu Guangzu.

Kuang Chenggong was pouring wine with one maid, while another maid was dancing, as free and joyful as could be.

"That damned Kuang Chenggong. The people of Huaxia are suffering in dire straits, and he’s here living so carelessly at ease, reveling in music and feasts." Chen Tianlong cursed through gritted teeth.

"Mm, exactly, he... he’s going to die a miserable death."

Wu Mengting was usually very kind, rarely swore at anyone. Now that Chen Tianlong had cursed, she didn’t care anymore and just threw out a curse herself.

Chen Tianlong gave a wry smile; it was rare to see Mengting curse. Hopefully this girl wasn’t getting spoiled by him. But at the same time he was very pleased—after all, it meant Mengting listened to him very closely.

Right at that moment, Kuang Chenggong seemed to sense someone was spying on him and immediately shouted, "Who’s there!"

As the words left his mouth, a sharp sword shot out from inside the room. Chen Tianlong lunged forward and knocked Wu Mengting to the ground, barely avoiding being stabbed. The window hadn’t been closed.

After that sword from Kuang Chenggong flew past, Chen Tianlong scrambled up, yanked out the Dragon Slayer Sword from his body, and charged in, only to find the man already gone. The two quickly stepped into the room, cautiously searching for Kuang Chenggong’s figure. Suddenly, in one corner of the room a silhouette flashed by; Chen Tianlong’s senses were razor-sharp, and with a single glance he recognized Kuang Chenggong.

"Kuang Chenggong, where do you think you’re going!"

Chen Tianlong didn’t care about anything else; he had to find Kuang Chenggong and force out news of Wu Guangzu.

They soon reached another room, and just then they saw Kuang Chenggong bursting through the window with someone in tow. That figure was so familiar that, if his guess was right, it had to be Wu Guangzu.

Chen Tianlong was startled, thinking Kuang Chenggong was about to make a move against Senior Brother Wu, and hurriedly flew after them.

He had just gone out the window when he saw Kuang Chenggong escaping with Wu Guangzu on a flying sword. Chen Tianlong didn’t even think, he just shouted, "Mengting, hurry up and get on, we have to catch up to them!"

"Okay."

Wu Mengting understood and nodded, then leapt onto the Dragon Slayer Sword. Chen Tianlong didn’t waste time; he directly used his intent to speed up and followed after them.

In fact, if Chen Tianlong hadn’t been so worried about Wu Guangzu, he would have noticed there were plenty of holes in this situation.

First of all, Kuang Chenggong was a Celestial Dao Seven-Star Great Perfection Limit expert—why would he be so afraid of him, and in his own courtyard no less? With all his men around, could he really be afraid of one Chen Tianlong?

But right now Chen Tianlong’s mind was clouded by Wu Guangzu’s life and death; he couldn’t spare any thought for such details. Seeing Kuang Chenggong flee with Wu Guangzu, he just bolted after them. And Wu Guangzu was already in Demonic Possession, his mind lost—if Kuang Shengtian killed him, what then?

Little did he know he had already walked into a trap. This was exactly the effect Kuang Chenggong wanted. One has to admit, Kuang Chenggong’s move was vicious—he intended to make the two brothers slaughter each other!

Earlier, when Kuang Chenggong clashed with Chen Tianlong at the Assassin Group, he realized this kid wasn’t easy to deal with; he was like Xiaoqiang, impossible to kill no matter how hard you hit.

So he decided not to act personally anymore, and instead let the boy’s own brother make the move. Then there would be a fine show to watch.

One was driven by deep brotherly love, the other had lost his mind—once both were under his control, just imagining the scene made him excited. As he flew, Kuang Chenggong was secretly laughing to himself.

Kuang Chenggong flew straight toward a peak not far from Kuang Shengtian’s manor, a mountain called Heart-breaking Cliff.

Seeing Kuang Chenggong flying in that direction, Chen Tianlong was a bit at a loss, thinking to himself: What kind of trick is Kuang Shengtian playing here, is there some kind of ambush?

That’s what Chen Tianlong was thinking, but his actions didn’t slow for even a heartbeat. He knew that even if it was a mountain of knives or a sea of flames, he had to charge in. There was no way he’d abandon Wu Guangzu.

A few minutes later, the two landed on the summit of Heart-breaking Cliff.

By then Kuang Chenggong had already vanished, and standing at the edge of the cliff was that extremely familiar back.

That person was Wu Guangzu.

Wu Guangzu stood at the cliff’s edge, expressionless, gripping the Blood Shadow Saber tightly in his hand, head lowered, perfectly still.

Looking at Wu Guangzu ahead, Chen Tianlong felt something wasn’t right, but since it was Wu Guangzu he didn’t dare be careless. Right in front of them was a sheer abyss, bottomless and steep, and Wu Guangzu had lost his reason—if he fell, it would be all over.
