Chapter 3098: Chapter 1032: The Heroic Saga of Captain Cape, Now Serializing

"Filthy mutts are charging in! Prepare for battle!"

With the sentinel’s shout, the Black Flame Mercenaries resting in the cave immediately stood up.

These former Armed Blood Servants from Transylvania and veteran soldiers who had retired after the battle at Blackflame Mountain Pass rushed to the cave entrance like tigers smelling blood. Colonel Ron also shoved a bottle of alchemy-laced water into the half-dead Brigadier General Fraser’s hands, grabbed the war knife and Blood Vulture Claw Rifle beside him, and hurried over.

His prosthetic left leg activated battle commands as he ran, with hidden flame nozzles flipping out with a click. In a fiery jet, he was propelled into the air, executing a cool spinning kick engulfed in flames into the battlefield, knocking the first Filthy Jackal Man Rioter who charged into the cave to the ground. The flames fueled with special oil ignited, turning that creature into a lump of char under the high temperature roasting.

With a cigarette dangling from his lips, Ron blew a smoke ring, reversed his left hand to draw his knife, and fired forward with his right hand clutching the Blood Vulture Claw. In the crisp sound of gunfire, disruptions were unleashed, and the mercenaries in the rear began their firepower suppression with various weaponry combinations.

Several stout warriors, fully armed, rushed forward with their large-caliber Iron Hammer Guards to engage in close combat with their Colonel. These warriors shared a notable trait with Ron—missing arms and legs.

The mildest among them had fingers replaced with relentless steel.

This wasn’t some damned ’initiation ritual’ of Mechanical Teachings; such disabilities symbolized the yet-unfinished but storied military careers of these veterans. Each harbored grudges against the Twilight Cultists, with many having followed Blood Covenant knights in combating various evils in the Dark Mountain Range since their father’s generation. After the war at Blackflame Mountain Pass and resolving the Black Disaster caused by the Jackal Men, these warriors remained in Transylvania, continuing their war against filth in a more direct way.

War and conflict were both their life and habit. After being semi-officially reorganized by Transylvania, these men who were willing to spend their later years on the battlefield received first-class military support.

Explosives were plentiful, even possessing unique firearms like the Cannibal Demon’s Hammer.

After the battle at Charldo Harbor, Burning Gold Bullets became a luxury standard. Colonel Ron, with only five hundred men, managed to rescue Brigadier General Fraser from the battlefield packed with Jackal Men due to this high-grade armament.

Although currently trapped in a rain-drenched peripheral cave with no escape, these warriors remained fearless against the Jackal Men charging out of the dark storm. Even if the enemies had transformed into sinister filthy creatures under the influence of Chaos Power, anything that could be dispatched with bullets and blades wasn’t worth their fear.

"Bang"

Once the Blood Vulture Claw ran out of bullets, it was tossed aside. After fiercely chopping a Jackal Man creature with six eyes, Ron turned to grab the trench gun Iron Hammer Guard thrown by his comrades, stuffing its barrel into the creature’s mouth for close-range firing.

In the splash of black, fetid dirty blood, the headless corpse flew out, yet the creature hadn’t died.

Despite having its head blown off, the Jackal Man’s neck stump sprouted black tendrils with sharp teeth, resembling a "half-serpent man."

At the tendril tips, a Seven-Gilled Eel-like mouth opened and splashed foul pus forward. Two veterans, too slow to dodge, screamed as they fell, succumbing to corrosive poison within twenty seconds.

The headless serpent creature attempted another rush, only to be obliterated the next second as a Barbarian behind furious roared and hit it squarely in the face with an Iron Fist Missile. The steel flame chaos took away their wicked divine spirit.

These are the Bone Biting Jackal Men now!

Though retaining the general shape of Jackal Men, hidden beneath their reeking skin shells were indescribable chaotic creatures. Their humanoid form was less of a disguise, more like a shell akin to an ovule.

Once the shell is shattered, the chaotic entity incubated within appears in the material world.

These entities are not pure subspace creatures but clearly exhibit characteristics of Chaos Creatures: thick blood, high defense, hard to kill, with various malicious means of attack. This is evidently a deeper, more vicious subspace shadow modification of material world entities, chosen as "Chaos Vanguards" after many skirmishes.

And Marshal Loren’s vanguard army, stranded in this mud-logged terrain across storming winds, wasn’t only due to the Goldenrod People’s overconfidence and Daguan Fishmen’s unscrupulous terrain alterations. Their current adversaries indeed defy common sense.

The rain outside grew more torrential, with the deep echoes of thunder and lightning, and the fight at the cave entrance intensified as blood was drawn.

Iron Fist Missiles used for fire support were soon depleted, while the chaotic creatures on the Ligurian Peninsula seemed to have "evolved" a strange "bullet resistance," making non-Burning Gold bullets woefully ineffective, forcing Fire Support to engage in melee.

Colonel Ron had now gone berserk.
