Chapter 3034: Chapter 1010: "Air Force" Is Just Fishers’ Lies (Joking) (3)

"Hey! This is cheating, isn’t it? This doesn’t seem very kosher, right?"

Three Five Battles and a few other anglers were a bit conflicted, but the Holy Master, worthy of his reputation as an outstanding warlock, rasped solemnly:

"In a duel between anglers, victory is everything. Unless you’re willing to bear the shame of defeat, to be mocked as flying an empty squadron, then going all out for the win is the first rule of an angler."

This is a war! Gentlemen.

In war you end up using any means necessary..."

With that, and with everyone else tacitly acquiescing, the Holy Master quietly tossed a talisman into the water beneath the fishing spot. The effect was instant—Half hanging brother, who had been reeling them in nonstop just now, suddenly got nothing for several casts in a row, while the Holy Master’s side kept landing fish and started making a racket.

"Damn! Going dirty on us, huh?"

Half hanging brother was an old angler himself, he’d seen all kinds of scenes. As soon as he saw this, he bared his teeth, and under the bewildered gaze of the nearby elf, pulled out some weird-looking engineering gadget, wound it up, and chucked it into the water.

Under the curious stare of his newly made elf friend, Half hanging brother explained quietly:

"That’s an underwater fish-attractor I had Count Snowlun make for me. It can emit special sound waves that gather all the surrounding fish to this area... Don’t look at me like that, man. They’re the ones who started cheating, and every round of fishing is an angler’s war."

For me, I don’t know your philosophy of war, but this is a challenge I cannot lose!"

"Uh, friend, aren’t you guys being a bit extreme."

The young elf grimaced.

He wasn’t actually angry, he just thought these Transia People were way too entertaining.

He’d heard from the travelers in his tribe that Transylvania was a barren land, where people will resort to anything to survive; their innate combativeness makes them the most savage warriors on the Continent. Now that he’d seen them today, the savagery wasn’t evident yet, but the combative streak was definitely exactly as the stories said.

He even stopped fishing himself and focused entirely on watching the open and covert battles between Half hanging brother and the other anglers.

Both sides pulled out all their tricks, escalating quickly from Confusion Curse and fish-attractors to the God of Nature’s Life Summon and the Half-body Men’s surface anesthetic. It got to the point where Half hanging brother, gritting his teeth, pulled a bundle of dynamite sticks from his coat, and that was when the Elven Angler decided he really couldn’t just stand by and watch anymore.

Damn!

Blasting fish near Charldo Harbor is against the law! And what you’re doing now is way beyond the scope of what anglers are supposed to do, okay!

"I’ve hooked something! Big fish, a real big fish, damn! Come help! You guys... hurry up! It’s pulling my line..."

A sudden shout rang out from Three Five Battles’ side, startling everyone around.

They turned to see Three Five Battles grabbing his rod with all his strength. That rod, made from branches blessed by the God of Nature, was already bent into a dangerously tight arc, and even though Three Five Battles himself was leaning back with everything he had, he still couldn’t withstand the pull of the big fish in the water.

Three Five Battles was one of the top shield-T players, the kind with Strength maxed out. If even he couldn’t hold it, then just looking at this scene you knew it had to be one hell of a big fish.

The Holy Master and the other anglers immediately dropped their own rods and ran over to help. Two of them wrapped their arms around Three Five Battles’ waist and hauled backward, while the Holy Master kept hammering Stun Spells into the water. But the fish down there was bizarrely tough—four spells, three successful saves, which even made the warlock lose his composure a bit.

Are the fish in Charldo Harbor really this badass?

They come with spell resistance built-in!

"This fish is definitely badass, let’s go, help him!"

Half hanging brother couldn’t be bothered with his grudge anymore; he grabbed the elf and ran over to help. A crowd of people at the fishing spot pulled with everything they had, barely managing to drag the float up to the surface. Judging by the shadow below, that fish was as tall as a person.

"Hell yeah! Three Five Battles, I hereby crown you Transylvania’s strongest angler!"

Beside him, the Holy Master stopped throwing Stun Spells, pulled a shotgun from his Psychic package, loaded Burning Gold Bullets, and was about to use this "American-style landing net" to help bring the big fish in.

"Don’t mess it up! Don’t ruin such a good specimen."

Half hanging brother reacted fast, rushing up to stop the Holy Master from firing. He turned his head and said to Three Five Battles:

"Jump in and knock it out! Kid, you’re probably about to break the players’ angling record today, might even pop a hidden achievement."

"Heh heh, it’s just dumb luck, can’t compare to you veterans’ skill. I’m just a freeloader."

Grinning, Three Five Battles stripped off his outer coat, then dove headfirst into the churning water below where the spray kept exploding. A few seconds later they heard a muffled thump from underwater, and then the rod that had been straining so hard suddenly slackened.

But with Three Five Battles not surfacing for a long while, people started getting nervous. Finally, after several more seconds, a completely dumbfounded Three Five Battles staggered onto shore hugging a strange "fish," and everyone, including the elf, blanched at the sight.

Because the big fish in Three Five Battles’ arms only had a seven-colored, iridescent fish tail; the upper half was a woman with a generous, wealthy-looking figure...

This was a damn Atlantean Shark People!

Holy shit!

The anglers had teamed up to land a Mermaid. What a totally insane plot twist!

"Quick quick quick, throw it back! Toss her into the water!"

The Holy Master clutched his eyes and shrieked:

"I heard the Mermaid are top dogs of the Misty Sea. We’ve stirred up a hornet’s nest—quick, while she’s still unconscious, dump her back in the water and grab your valuables, we’re bailing!"

"Uh, we may have knocked her out, but the wounds on her body have nothing to do with us."

Three Five Battles glanced down at the unconscious Mermaid in his arms. The poor Mermaid’s big tail was covered in a type of injury Three Five Battles found disturbingly familiar, especially the faint aura of decay seeping from the wounds, which made him frown deeply.

Why do these look so much like the scars on those Filthy Jackal People?

The elite player sensed something was wrong and said:

"Go find a doctor now! Her condition is really bad."
