My Pervert Sytem
Chapter 186: The Blood-Stained Throne
“The throne is empty,” Seraphina murmured, looking past him toward the grotesque, lifeless remains of the Emperor. She reached out, resting her soft hand against his battered chest. “The empire is fractured, Leon. The real war is just beginning.”
Leon smiled a dark, predatory grin, covering her delicate hand with his own.
“Let the rest of the continent try to take it from us,” Leon promised, pulling the silver-haired warlord into a firm, dominant embrace. “We will just keep stacking the bodies higher.”
_____
The silence in the Imperial Throne Room was incredibly heavy, feeling thick and cloying after the deafening roar of the collapsing spatial tear. The massive, swirling vortex of black energy was completely gone, leaving nothing behind but a smooth, perfectly unblemished section of marble wall where the portal had once raged.
The immediate threat was neutralized, but the aftermath of the battle painted a grim, apocalyptic picture.
Dozens of shattered Vaelorian soldiers lay scattered across the polished floor, their jagged black iron armor leaking thick, corrupted blood. The air tasted sharply of ozone and sulfur, lingering heavily in the lungs.
At the center of the devastation, resting upon the elevated dais, was the grotesque, fleshy monument that had once been the Emperor of the Solarian Empire. The frail ruler’s body had withered into a dry, gray husk the moment Valeriana severed the magical connection to the portal. The jagged violet crystals embedded in his chest had grown dark and brittle, crumbling like dry clay onto the golden robes.
Leon stood near the decapitated corpse of the Vaelorian Commander, his heavy breathing slowly returning to a steady, calm rhythm. He dismissed his kinetic armor, allowing his Endless Vigor to begin the grueling process of repairing his battered muscles and bruised ribs.
Seraphina slowly pulled away from his embrace. The silver-haired warlord turned her attention to the ruined throne. Her violet eyes hardened, stripping away the vulnerability she had just displayed. She was the eldest daughter of a Great Duchy, and she was standing in the very heart of the empire she had sworn to protect.
“The bloodline is officially broken,” Seraphina announced, her voice echoing coldly through the vast, empty hall. She walked up the marble steps, stopping just a few feet away from the Emperor’s corpse. “Morgana utilized the royal blood as the ultimate anchor. Without it, the spatial tear collapsed. But this means there is no legitimate heir remaining to claim the crown.”
Isolde Vane approached the dais, her green tabard heavily stained with dark soot. The Emerald Knight sheathed her glowing rapier, her sharp tactical mind already processing the monumental political fallout.
“The neutral houses will panic,” Isolde predicted, running a hand through her vibrant green hair. “They followed House Sterling because you exposed the Chamberlain’s treason. But if they discover the throne is completely empty, the minor factions will immediately begin warring for scraps of territory. The capital will descend into total anarchy.”
“Then we do not tell them the throne is empty,” a smooth, calculating voice suggested from the shadows.
Valeriana walked gracefully down the steps of the dais, wiping chalk dust from her delicate hands. The beautiful spy had recovered from her earlier terror, slipping effortlessly back into her role as the ultimate political manipulator.
She stopped beside Leon, shooting him a quick, heated glance before addressing the rest of the strike team.
“The Emperor has been locked away in this room for months under a strict medical quarantine,” Valeriana reminded them, gesturing toward the heavy wooden doors they had breached earlier. “The aristocracy is already accustomed to a silent ruler. We simply maintain the illusion. We declare that the Emperor is still recovering from his magical illness, and House Sterling will act as his designated proxy until further notice.”
“A puppet regime,” Captain Nyx noted, leaning against a shattered marble pillar. The corsair crossed her arms over her leather outfit, a dark smirk playing on her scarred lips. “You want to rule the empire from the shadows using a dead man as your shield. I love it. It is brilliantly treacherous.”
Seraphina frowned, her fierce aristocratic honor violently clashing with the pragmatic reality of the situation.
“It is deceitful,” Seraphina argued, her hand resting on the hilt of her broadsword. “My family has always stood in the light. We do not hide behind corpses.”
Before the debate could escalate, the heavy wooden doors of the throne room creaked open.
Julian Avgar stepped hesitantly into the blood-stained hall. The young noble looked terrified, his eyes wide as he took in the sheer scale of the carnage. He carefully navigated his way around the shattered Vaelorian soldiers, stopping at the base of the marble dais.
“My lords… ladies,” Julian stammered, bowing deeply. “The Vanguard knights have secured the outer courtyard. The remaining loyalist guards surrendered the moment they saw the High Priestess’s personal executioners lying dead on the steps.”
Leon nodded, offering the trembling boy a small, approving smile. “Good work, Julian. Did any of the neutral lords attempt to breach the inner keep?”
“No,” the young noble replied quickly. “They are waiting in the grand hall of the Sterling estate, exactly as you ordered. They are demanding an update on the Emperor’s condition.”
Leon turned his intense midnight eyes back toward Seraphina.
“Valeriana is right,” Leon stated, his deep voice carrying an undeniable, heavy gravity that settled the argument instantly. “If we announce the Emperor’s death tonight, the city will burn. We need time to consolidate our military forces and secure the borders against any remaining Syndicate cells. We rule from the shadows until the foundation is solid.”
Seraphina let out a long, frustrated sigh. She looked at the withered corpse on the throne, then back at her towering warden. She trusted his tactical instincts implicitly. If he believed a temporary deception was necessary to prevent a civil war, she would shoulder the burden of the lie.
“Fine,” Seraphina conceded, her violet eyes narrowing fiercely. “But I will not sit on a throne made of rotting flesh.”
Beatrice stepped forward, her pristine black maid uniform sharply contrasting the gory environment. The Ice Queen raised her hands, her piercing blue eyes glowing with cold, focused intent.
“Allow me, Lady Seraphina,” Beatrice offered politely.
She channeled a concentrated wave of Tier One frost mana directly at the grotesque throne. The dense, freezing mist aggressively coated the fleshy vines, the corrupted crystals, and the withered corpse of the Emperor. The temperature plummeted drastically, encasing the entire morbid monument in a thick, beautiful layer of solid, shimmering glacial ice.
The throne transformed from a horrifying nightmare into a breathtaking, crystalline sculpture.
“Much better,” Leon praised, resting a heavy hand on Beatrice’s shoulder. The maid shivered, a brilliant flush rising to her cheeks under the sudden physical contact.
A digital interface hummed cheerfully in his vision, dropping a bright pink text box right over the frozen throne.
[System Notice: The Puppet Master’s Claim]
[The capital is officially yours. A true warlord celebrates his absolute victory by claiming his favorite prizes right in the heart of the conquered empire.]
[Objective: Walk over to the frozen throne. Sit casually on the armrest, pull the beautiful information broker onto your lap, and declare that the shadow government is now in session.]
[Reward: +20 Charisma, 600 Shameless Points.]
[Penalty: A localized curse making you uncontrollably giggle like a tickled child for six hours.]
Leon smirked, feeling a dark, predatory thrill pump through his veins. The violent bloodshed was over for the night. It was time to aggressively establish his personal dominance over the women who had helped him conquer the city.
He walked smoothly up the marble steps, moving past Seraphina. He approached the frozen throne, casually hoisting himself up to sit comfortably on the thick, icy armrest. The residual frost did not bother him in the slightest, thanks to his minor thermal resistances.
He looked down at Valeriana, extending his large, calloused hand toward her.
“Come here, Quartermaster,” Leon commanded softly.
The beautiful spy hesitated for a fraction of a second. She glanced nervously at the silver-haired warlord, perfectly aware of the fierce possessive jealousy radiating from Seraphina. But the blistering, magnetic pull of Leon’s heavy gaze was impossible to resist.
She stepped forward, placing her delicate hand in his.
Leon pulled her up the steps, smoothly guiding her athletic curves until she was sitting sideways across his thick thighs. He wrapped his strong arm securely around her waist, resting his other hand casually on her knee.
Valeriana gasped softly, her dark eyes wide with shock at the sheer, scandalous audacity of his public display. Her pale cheeks burned a brilliant, furious red as she instinctively rested her hands against his broad chest.
“The shadow government is officially in session,” Leon declared, his voice echoing darkly through the silent, blood-stained hall.
[Quest Complete. Stat Rewards Distributed.]
A massive surge of pure magnetic appeal flooded his features, elevating his Charisma to new, terrifying heights.
Seraphina ground her teeth, her hand gripping the hilt of her broadsword tight enough to turn her knuckles white. Isolde looked away, trying to hide her own bitter pang of jealousy, while Elara and Beatrice simply exchanged a knowing, amused glance.
The warlord had claimed his throne, and the complicated, highly volatile dynamic of his expanding faction was about to become infinitely more entertaining.
