My Pervert Sytem
Chapter 184: Chokepoint at the Throne
"There are too many of them!" Isolde shouted, ducking under a massive axe blade. She retaliated with a piercing thrust that sank deep into her attacker’s throat. "They are going to overrun the dais!"
"Keep the line unbroken," Leon roared, delivering a devastating spinning back kick that sent an invader crashing down the marble steps.
He glanced back at Valeriana. The beautiful spy was frantically analyzing the glowing runes etched into the floor around the dead Emperor’s throne.
"Valeriana," Leon yelled, parrying another heavy strike. "Can you reverse that array?"
The information broker looked up, her face pale and dotted with sweat. "The array is tied to the Emperor’s residual mana. I need time to decipher the Vaelorian encryption. It will take at least ten minutes to sever the connection and collapse the portal."
"You have five," Leon promised, a dark, dangerous spark igniting in his eyes.
He turned back to the endless tide of black iron armor. He took a deep, steadying breath, preparing to push his physical vessel far beyond its natural mortal limits.
He needed to build a wall of broken bodies to protect his women, and he was more than ready to start stacking them high.
----
The grand throne room was a theater of apocalyptic violence. The golden murals and pristine marble floors were rapidly vanishing beneath a rising tide of shattered black iron armor and dark, corrupted blood.
Leon stood at the dead center of the dais steps, acting as an immovable, terrifying breakwater against the surging ocean of Vaelorian soldiers. His heavy dark blade was a blur of devastating motion, each swing generating a localized concussive boom that rattled the foundational pillars of the palace.
He did not waste energy on wide, theatrical flourishes. He utilized brutal, economic strikes designed for maximum lethality. He stepped into a heavy axe swing, catching the wooden haft with his bare left hand. The kinetic shockwave rippled up his arm, but his dense aura absorbed the worst of the impact. He violently twisted his wrist, ripping the weapon from the soldier’s grasp before driving a crushing headbutt directly into the invader’s jagged iron helmet.
The metal crumpled inward, dropping the towering monster instantly.
"Push them back," Seraphina commanded, her voice cutting through the deafening roar of battle.
The silver-haired warlord fought back-to-back with Leon. Her Tier One crimson mana burned with intense, volcanic fury. She unleashed a massive, sweeping wave of searing fire that rolled down the marble steps, incinerating the front line of Vaelorian shock troops. The intense thermal explosion temporarily stalled the invasion, leaving a wall of burning corpses blocking the path.
"The fire will only delay them for a few seconds," Seraphina panted, resting her broadsword on the marble. Her chest heaved erratically, the constant output of Grandmaster-level magic rapidly draining her internal reserves.
Leon glanced at her, noting the faint sheen of sweat glistening on her pale, flawless skin. She was fighting with the ferocity of a cornered lioness, defending the very room where her ancestors had once sworn fealty to the crown.
The digital interface flared to life, projecting a glowing pink box directly over the burning barricade of bodies.
[System Prompt: The Warlord’s Anchor]
[Your silver goddess is exhausting herself trying to protect her home. A true warlord provides an endless well of confidence and scandalous distraction to keep her spirits high.]
[Objective: Step close to Seraphina. Slide your calloused hand around her armored waist, pull her against your side, and whisper that she looks incredibly beautiful when she is covered in enemy ash.]
[Reward: +20 Endurance, 500 Shameless Points.]
[Penalty: A sensory curse making your tongue taste like rotten fish for three days.]
Leon smirked, welcoming the brief reprieve provided by the burning barricade. He needed to keep his team mentally sharp, and nothing sharpened the mind quite like overwhelming romantic tension.
He stepped close to the exhausted warlord. He reached out with his left arm, smoothly sliding his large hand around her waist. He pulled her athletic frame firmly against his solid, muscular side.
Seraphina gasped, her violet eyes flying wide open in pure, unadulterated surprise. Her fierce combat instincts momentarily stalled as the blistering heat of his chest seeped through her crimson armor.
"You look incredibly beautiful when you are covered in enemy ash, Seraphina," Leon whispered, leaning down to press a soft, lingering kiss against the edge of her jawline.
The silver-haired noblewoman completely melted. The heavy, suffocating stress of the endless battle evaporated, replaced by a sudden, intense wave of breathless submission. Her cheeks flushed a brilliant, furious red. She instinctively leaned her weight against his towering frame, drawing a frantic, desperate comfort from his unyielding gravity.
"You are an absolute lunatic, Warden," she breathed weakly, her hands gripping his dark shirt to steady her trembling knees. "We are in the middle of a war."
"I am just admiring the view," Leon murmured darkly, flashing a confident, predatory smile before releasing her.
[Quest Complete. Stat Rewards Distributed.]
A massive surge of raw physical resilience fortified his heavily corded muscles. His Endurance spiked, actively scrubbing the mounting fatigue from his nervous system and preparing him for the next brutal engagement.
The burning barricade of corpses shifted. The Vaelorian troops began aggressively climbing over the charred remains of their own comrades, their glowing red runes pulsing with frantic, mindless aggression.
"Incoming," Isolde shouted from the right flank.
The Emerald Knight was covered in dark soot, her vibrant green tabard torn in several places. She fought alongside Captain Nyx with terrifying synergy. Isolde parried the heavy axe strikes, while the corsair slipped into the blind spots, her curved cutlasses severing tendons and throats with bloody precision.
Further back, near the grotesque, fleshy remains of the Emperor’s throne, Valeriana worked frantically.
The beautiful spy knelt on the marble floor, her dark eyes scanning the intricate, glowing violet runes carved into the stone. She held her tracking compass in one hand and a piece of chalk in the other, rapidly sketching counter-arrays over the corrupted magic.
"The encryption is a nightmare," Valeriana yelled, wiping a streak of dust from her forehead. "Morgana tied the portal’s stability to the ley lines running beneath the palace. If I sever the connection too quickly, the spatial tear will detonate, pulling this entire room into the void."
"Take your time, Valeriana," Leon roared, stepping forward to meet the fresh wave of invaders. "Just do not make a mistake."
He engaged a cluster of three Vaelorian soldiers simultaneously. He ducked under a synchronized horizontal slash, dropping to one knee. He drove the heavy pommel of his dark weapon directly into the leading soldier’s groin, shattering the armor and crushing the pelvis.
He used the falling body as a springboard, launching himself upward. He delivered a devastating, spinning heel kick to the second soldier’s jaw, snapping the neck instantly. The third soldier attempted to thrust a jagged spear, but Leon caught the wooden shaft under his armpit. He twisted violently, disarming the brute before driving a concussive palm strike directly into the man’s chest.
His movements were a flawless, terrifying symphony of applied physics and raw brutality.
Beatrice stepped up to the edge of the dais, her pristine black maid uniform stained with gray dust. The Ice Queen raised both hands, her piercing blue eyes burning with focused intent.
"Allow me to alter the terrain, Master," Beatrice requested, her voice carrying a cold, echoing resonance.
She channeled a massive surge of her Tier One frost mana, directing the freezing mist toward the center of the throne room. The polished marble floor rapidly accumulated a thick, treacherous layer of solid glacial ice. The incoming Vaelorian troops, heavily burdened by their massive iron armor, slipped and crashed into one another, creating a chaotic bottleneck.
"Excellent work, Beatrice," Leon praised, recognizing the massive tactical advantage.
The bottleneck forced the invading army to slow their march, giving the strike team a desperately needed breather to manage the advancing numbers.
But the brief moment of relief was violently shattered by a deafening, earth-shaking roar emanating from the swirling black vortex.
The rhythmic marching of the standard soldiers abruptly stopped. The grunts stepping through the portal quickly moved aside, creating a wide path leading directly from the void.
The air in the throne room grew incredibly heavy, saturated with a suffocating, dense wave of dark, corrupted mana that rivaled Silas’s gravity domain.
Stepping out of the pitch-black portal was a monster of monumental proportions.
It was a Vaelorian Commander. The warrior stood over eight feet tall, clad in jagged armor forged from pure, glowing obsidian. He wielded a colossal, two-handed spiked maul that crackled with chaotic red lightning.
The Commander did not project the aura of a mindless drone. He radiated the terrifying, overwhelming pressure of a seasoned Tier Two Grandmaster.
"Frail, pathetic southerners," the Commander rumbled, his voice sounding like two grinding tectonic plates. He locked his glowing crimson eyes directly onto Leon. "Your tiny barricade falls now."
Leon cracked his thick knuckles, stepping down the marble stairs to meet the new threat. The portal was spewing its heaviest hitters, and the final clash for the capital was about to reach its bloody climax.
