She pulled back a small corner of the sheet, revealing a sleek set of pitch-black leather armor. It was lined with dark, matte-metal plates that seemed to swallow the light in the room.

"It’s designed for a Shadow Vanguard," Vex explained. "Since your Void Eel can phase through solid objects, I enchanted the leather using the old empire text. If you time it right, the armor will let your physical body phase through walls right behind your summon for three seconds at a time."

Smithy just stared at the dark armor. His hands shook a little bit as he reached out and touched the leather. "I... I don’t know what to say, Vex."

"Just say you’ll use it to keep my favorite customers alive," Vex grunted. "Now, onto the real show."

She grabbed the edge of the sheet and ripped the whole thing away.

The new gear shined brightly under the forge lights.

Vex tossed a heavy, dark blue cloak to Nathan. It was the Starfall Cloak. Woven directly from the Leviathan’s Tear and the Ashen Remnant, the fabric moved like liquid water. "It doubles your natural mana regeneration," Vex told him. "And it holds a one-time emergency barrier. If you take a hit that is going to stop your heart, the cloak will automatically freeze the impact."

She pointed to a pair of massive, rune-covered arm guards. "Mirko. Bulwark Bracers. Forged from the Broken Crown Fragment. They don’t just make your shield stronger. You can now stretch your barrier to cover your team. You aren’t just a door anymore. You’re a wall."

Kuro stepped up and took two new daggers. The Veilweave Daggers. The dark metal blades actually faded in and out of focus, looking like smoke. "They phase right through physical armor," Vex said proudly. "You strike directly at their internal mana channels. The enemy won’t even know they are bleeding until they drop dead."

Shiro received the Dragonfang Greaves. They were sleek, golden leg guards that literally glowed with trapped heat. "They channel your dragon fire straight down to your boots. Every single kick is going to explode."

Garrett picked up the Aegis Pauldrons. The heavy shoulder plates hummed with a soft, steady light. "They eat kinetic force," Vex explained. "When something hits you, the armor absorbs the shock and turns it into healing energy. You take a beating, you heal."

Dillon grabbed the Tempest Shroud, a light grey cloak that cracked with actual static electricity. "It acts like a battery. Every time you sprint or dodge, it stores static. If an enemy grabs you, the cloak dumps a massive electrical burst right into their chest."

Finally, Elise picked up the Glacial Crown. It was a thin, elegant headband made of ice that did not melt in the hot forge. "It boosts your raw freezing power by thirty percent," Vex said. "But more importantly, it totally locks your mind down. The Shepherd will not be able to talk in your head."

The team stood quietly, looking at their new gear. Nathan felt a massive weight lift off his chest. They were actually ready.

"One last thing," Vex said, pulling a small wooden box from her apron pocket. She tossed it to Nathan. "Open it."

Nathan popped the lid. Sitting inside were six small metal pins, shaped like tiny stars. "What are these?"

"Communication anchors," Vex said, leaning against her anvil. "Clip them to your collars. The Shepherd likes to use powerful magic to block communication crystals. These use a special TCA frequency mixed with some special magic. As long as you’re alive, you’ll be able to hear each other. You won’t be alone in the dark."

Nathan picked up one of the star pins. It was cold and heavy. "Thank you, Vex. Seriously. For everything."

Vex just waved a hand, looking away. "Just don’t die and ruin my hard work. Now get out of my forge. I need a nap."

That night, the team sat together in the main room of their guild hall.

No one said much. They just sat in the comfortable chairs, feeling the heavy, quiet pressure of the next day pressing down on them. Nathan looked around the room at his team. Garrett, Dillon, Elise, and Smithy. Mirko, Kuro, and Shiro. This was his family.

"Tomorrow morning, we walk into the Pale Court," Nathan said, breaking the silence. His voice was steady. "We don’t know the rules. We don’t know the layout. But we know exactly why we are going. We are going to finish this." He paused, looking at each of them. "Whatever happens in there... it has been an honor."

Garrett stood up first. He rested his heavy hand on Volcan’s handle. "We hold the line. Nobody breaks."

Dillon stood up next, pulling his katana out just an inch so the metal clicked. "We hit them fast. We hit them hard."

Elise stood, her new ice crown glowing softly in the dim room. "We keep our heads cold. We don’t let him win."

Smithy stood quietly, his dark armor shifting in the shadows. "We make things right."

Mirko pumped her fist in the air, grinning fiercely. "We kick down the front door!"

Kuro simply nodded, her hand resting on her fading daggers.

Shiro crossed her arms, her golden eyes burning. "We burn his Throne to ash."

Nathan stood up last. He gripped Moonlight tightly in his hand. He looked at his team, fully geared, fully leveled, and ready for war.

Tomorrow, they were going to step into the final World. Tomorrow, they were going to look the Shepherd in the eye.

The room fell quiet again, but the heavy fear from earlier was completely gone, replaced by a solid, shared focus.

Nathan looked at the faces of the people he trusted with his life, feeling the warm hum of his mana steady his racing heart. Outside the guild hall windows, the city lights slowly began to fade as the long night finally gave way to a cold, pale morning. The time for planning and waiting was over; the Shepherd’s door was waiting, and they were finally ready to kick it open.
