Chapter 741 - 495: A Cunning Plan

"So, should we go pack ahead of time?"

"Pack what?"

In the car.

Chen Yuan was focused on driving, but he overheard the two sisters talking and curiously chimed in.

Jiangg Yao turned to him and said, "If we’re moving, of course we have to pack our things ahead of time. Our place in Lanjing has way too much stuff. It’ll take us at least a day or two to pack everything. Your apartment across the hall is a different story, though. It’s spotless—nothing in it but furniture."

"A day or two? You’re exaggerating, right?" he asked doubtfully.

"Oh, you just don’t get it," Jiangg Yao said, sounding a little frantic. "Think about it! My sister and I have to bring our clothes, right? And the stuffed animals we’ve had for years? And my streaming equipment and computer were just upgraded. We can’t just buy new ones, can we? We have to be more sensible. We should bring back everything we can still use so we don’t have to buy them again."

"It’s fine if you just buy new things, right? Don’t you two have those black cards? I don’t even have one. What’s the spending limit on those, anyway? They were given to you, so you might as well use them. It’s a waste if you don’t."

"No way," Jiangg Ning interjected, surprisingly backing Jiangg Yao up. Hearing her younger sister suddenly sound so sensible, she thought it was a very good point.

’That’s just how life is. You save where you can.’ She had never been a fan of lavish spending.

’As the old saying goes, good steel is used for the blade’s edge.’

’Even though the money from their parents came easily, they couldn’t just squander it. Once you entered the workforce and started earning your own money, you’d realize just how hard it is. Leaving a computer that costs tens of thousands of yuan to just sit there would be far too wasteful.’

Jiangg Ning was rather pleased that Yaoyao had come to this realization.

’She’s grown up...’

"Yaoyao has a point. Since we won’t be living in Lanjing for a while, we should bring back our clothes and equipment. I also have a lot of books I need, and a whole box of expensive skincare products and face masks. Those are things I use every day; they’ll expire if we just leave them there."

"Alright, alright. We can go grab it all when we have some free time."

"Free time? Why can’t I just go with you the day after tomorrow? That way, Sis can stay in Mingzhu City to look for a new house and keep Mom company. The two of us are more than enough for the manual labor. Oh, right, do you still have to go to Linzhou?"

"Yeah, I have to. Even though I’ve been ’exiled,’ I still need to go for the handover. At the very least, I need to explain the situation to Pei and the others."

"That’s perfect. We’ll head to Lanjing the day after tomorrow. That way, we can get everything taken care of."

This was completely out of character. Jiangg Yao was actually taking charge and arranging everything perfectly, so much so that when she turned and asked, "Right, Sis?" Jiangg Ning was completely bewildered.

She just managed an "Ah?"

Both Chen Yuan and Jiangg Ning stared at her.

Jiangg Yao blinked her sparkling eyes.

"What’s wrong? Is there a problem with my plan?"

It wasn’t that her plan was wrong; it was that it was *too* right. She had thought of every little detail, which wasn’t like Jiangg Yao at all. Previously, she’d never wanted to bother with this kind of thing. Usually, Ningning and Chen Yuan would discuss the plans, and she would just go wherever they told her to.

"There’s nothing wrong with it," Jiangg Ning said flatly.

’I hadn’t thought that far ahead yet. My original thought was that we could go get our things anytime. The priority for tomorrow is picking up Jiangg Ruxue; we can make plans after that. Since Jiangg Yao is willing to make this trip, it saves me the trouble.’

Jiangg Ning found it strange, but she didn’t give it much more thought.

Chen Yuan, however, glanced at Jiangg Yao a few more times, sensing something was off.

On the highway.

As they neared Mingzhu City, they came to a service area. Chen Yuan asked the sisters if they needed to use the restroom, then pulled in, and they all got out of the car.

Guys are usually quicker. By the time Chen Yuan came out, there was still no sign of the sisters.

A moment later, Jiangg Yao came out. The hand dryer was broken, so Chen Yuan pulled a tissue from his pocket to dry her hands.

"What’s going on?" he asked as he dried her hands.

"Hm?" Jiangg Yao glanced up, not sure what he was talking about.

"This sudden enthusiasm to go back to Lanjing with me to pack... what are you planning?"

"You idiot. If my sister tags along for everything, will we ever have any space for ourselves? Or do you want her to find out that we’ve already... you know?"

"That makes sense!" Chen Yuan’s eyes lit up in understanding. He nodded and added, "So, if we go to Lanjing together, then we can..."

"Then you can do whatever you want... After all, it’ll just be the two of us..."

"That’s fantastic."

Chen Yuan’s eyes lit up. He remembered that night. Between being too shy and being terrified of Ningning finding out, the two of them had been terribly frustrated, forced to communicate in hushed whispers under the covers.

’Like a couple of thieves, sneaking around.’

The thought of returning to Lanjing and enjoying some alone time with Yaoyao made Chen Yuan feel a flush of heat...

He lowered his head, gently put his arm around Yaoyao’s waist, and whispered in her ear, "My wifey is so thoughtful, huh?"

"Who else would I do it for? If my sister found out, you’d really be in for it."

"That’s for sure."

’Ningning has always been sensitive about this. Even if she doesn’t say anything, how could she possibly be okay with it if she knew our relationship had already gone this far? Things have finally settled down with her. I wouldn’t dare test her acceptance with something like this.’

Chen Yuan was deeply moved that Jiangg Yao was being so considerate.

’Getting Yaoyao on my side was definitely the right decision.’

"What are you smiling at? Are you that happy just thinking about getting intimate with me?"

"Of course. Yaoyao’s amazing..." he whispered.

"Amazing in what way?"

Just as the two were whispering and clinging to each other, Jiangg Ning walked out of the restroom. At first, she didn’t look at them, preoccupied with straightening her clothes.
