My Online Girlfriend Has a Twin Sister
Chapter 712 - 478: Two Generations
Had he failed to see Jiangg Ning’s true feelings? Or was there another meaning to what his parents had said, one he just wasn’t getting?
Chen Yuan was wrestling with his thoughts.
He was standing right in front of the sisters’ door, yet he didn’t push it open.
Moonlight, like a sheer veil, enveloped the entire hallway of the sanatorium, and Chen Yuan was wrapped within it. He thought for a long time but still couldn’t find an answer to his questions. It started to feel inappropriate just standing there at the door, lost in thought.
So, he pushed open the door to the room and went inside.
Inside, a soft light glowed.
The sanatorium wasn’t especially large; its budget prioritized tranquility and medical facilities. As a result, the room layout was nothing special—a bit better than a standard hotel. After stepping through the entryway, he saw Jiangg Ning by the bed.
Chen Yuan was a little surprised to see Ningning here.
As he drew closer, he saw Jiangg Yao lying in bed. The two sisters were leaning close, whispering about something. When they heard him approach, they both fell silent in perfect unison and looked up at him at the same time.
"What are you two whispering about?"
"N-nothing."
"Oh~" he said, nodding knowingly.
Seeing that the two sisters, for once, weren’t arguing, and that their expressions were equally serious, he knew he didn’t even need to ask what they were talking about. He wouldn’t get an answer anyway.
"We’re going to Kyoto the day after tomorrow. We’ll need to go to the bridal shop to try on dresses, take engagement photos, that sort of thing."
"So soon?"
"Isn’t this how it’s usually done?" Chen Yuan sat on the edge of the bed and looked at Jiangg Yao, who had sat up. "The good studios are hard to book. For some, you have to wait until next year. So we need to book it in advance and get the photos taken."
"Okay, okay! A wedding dress!"
Jiangg Yao was suddenly excited, her eyes sparkling.
What girl hasn’t dreamed of wearing a wedding dress and marrying the one she loves? Many start dreaming of it from a young age, from the very moment they learn that such a thing as love exists.
"A wedding dress..." Jiangg Ning mulled over the words.
For an article of clothing to be considered beautiful, it certainly depends on the designer’s aesthetic sense. The interesting thing about wedding dresses, however, is that it’s difficult to design an ugly one. Only a very few, in an attempt to be unconventional, manage to do so.
Perhaps it’s because wedding dresses are inherently imbued with a sense of the sacred, with all of humanity’s fantasies of what is beautiful.
Every woman loves beautiful clothes, let alone a category of clothing that comes with a special buff.
For a moment, she too felt a stir of excitement.
’At least, before she met Chen Yuan last year, Jiangg Ning had never thought she would be trying on a wedding dress so soon. Back then, love was a distant thing, something she had no idea when she would ever obtain. But life is just that strange and magical.’
’If she could go back in time and tell her past self...’
’..."Jiangg Ning, you are going to fall hopelessly, deeply in love with a boy who appears in your life. And no matter the outcome, you will throw yourself into it without hesitation and without regret..." ...her past self would never have believed it. She would have just laughed it off as a joke.’
’Now, she knew she still hadn’t made up her mind, but when she allowed herself to fantasize about marrying Chen Yuan—meeting his family, planning the wedding, taking photos, and then, full of hope, moving into a little home of their own, just like countless other ordinary couples in the world...’
’...she couldn’t deny the fluttering of her own heart. She couldn’t suppress it no matter how hard she tried.’
’How wonderful... that kind of life.’
’She couldn’t refuse to throw herself wholeheartedly into the experience. Even if she didn’t get married in the end, it would make her life worthwhile.’
"How’s the injury on your foot? Is it starting to feel any better? It’ll be a hassle to try on dresses otherwise. You definitely won’t be able to wear high heels, but I guess that doesn’t matter since it’s just for the engagement photos."
Chen Yuan’s concerned questions to Yaoyao broke through Jiangg Ning’s thoughts.
She snapped out of her reverie.
"It’s okay. It’s not as painful as it was a few days ago, but now it’s even more uncomfortable because it’s both numb and itchy. It makes me want to scratch it so bad."
"Don’t you dare touch it. If it’s itchy, that means it’s starting to heal. Maybe it won’t be long before you can walk on it again."
"I hope so..." Jiangg Yao pouted unhappily. "I can’t eat spicy food, showering is a pain... being injured is the worst."
"Just bear with it for a little while."
"I can’t stand it for another second."
Chen Yuan gave her a helpless look, then turned his gaze to Jiangg Ning.
’A reliable older sister really is the best,’ he thought. ’She hasn’t complained once since she got hurt.’
After their nap this afternoon, Jiangg Yao had been pestering him for ice cream. How could she be so unreasonable?
As the seasons changed, the weather had been getting hotter. And because it had been overcast for the past two days, the air was especially hot and humid. Hot weather wasn’t good for healing injuries, so all he could do was pray that both sisters would recover quickly.
A moment of silence fell. Chen Yuan looked at the dejected Jiangg Yao.
Her head was bowed, her eyes downcast. Because of the heat, Yaoyao was dressed in light clothing: just a form-fitting crop top that didn’t quite cover her stomach. Since she wasn’t sitting up straight, a little roll of flesh squeezed out, looking smooth and supple.
He couldn’t resist giving it a poke.
"Tummy, tummy."
"What was that for?"
Jiangg Yao pouted in annoyance and slapped his hand away.
"Your little bit of chub is kind of cute. Feels nice," he teased.
Who knew that this one sentence would make the already moody Jiangg Yao even angrier? She narrowed her eyes, fixing him with a dangerous glare.
Even the most good-natured person has a sore spot you just don’t touch!
Jiangg Yao’s biggest sore spot was that she was slightly heavier than her sister—by just a few pounds. She was normally very sensitive about it, and whenever she argued with Jiangg Ning and her sister brought it up, her defenses would crumble in an instant.
