My Mother-in-Law Gifted Me a Building
Chapter 397: The Vote
"Xue Wujian, so what if everything you said is true? Didn’t that Elder from Spirit Sword Valley violate the rules of the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony? He used his status as a Human Martial Arts Peak Realm master to bully two juniors. Does he have no shame?" The two Martial Arts Venerables from the Three Swords Sect retorted indignantly.
"Xue Wujian, spell it out. How exactly did my wife and my Chu Family disciple insult Spirit Sword Valley?" Chu Feng asked with a sneer.
"Heh. Do you really think no one would find out about what you’ve done and said? It was a disciple of your Chu Family who called Spirit Sword Valley a brothel. Isn’t that insult enough?" Xue Wujian’s voice was so loud that the entire hall could hear him.
Beside him, Xue Fengjian shot several meaningful glances his way, but the man didn’t notice a single one. He was like a reckless hothead, heedless of everything.
"That... That is indeed going a bit too far, insulting their Sect," Venerable Xue Feng said, looking awkward.
But as he looked at Xue Wujian, he was completely exasperated. ’Even if it’s true, you didn’t have to say it out loud! And even if you had to say it, did you need to shout? Are you afraid someone might not have heard you?’
"What? Was it wrong to call it a brothel? Isn’t that what you all say in private? You have the guts to say it, but now you don’t dare to admit it?" Chu Feng said with a smile.
"Chu Feng! You will be held responsible for what you just said! Spirit Sword Valley has many Martial Arts Peak Realm experts. Are you declaring yourself an enemy of their sect?" Venerable Xue Feng snapped coldly.
"Am I wrong? All of you know the truth deep down, don’t you? And Venerable Xue Feng, the only reason you’re siding with Spirit Sword Valley is that your Snow Mountain Sect Leader’s wife is from there, isn’t it? Don’t even try to deny it. They broke the rules first. So, what are you going to do about it!" Chu Feng declared.
"Sword Master, Venerable Chu Feng did not violate the rules of the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony. He is not at fault here," a Martial Arts Venerable from the Three Swords Sect spoke up.
"Li San! What does the Three Swords Sect think it’s doing?" Xue Fengjian demanded furiously.
"Xue Fengjian, I hadn’t even called you out, yet you’re the first to jump up. I’m the one who should be asking what your Snow Sword Sect is trying to do! Those people openly defied the rules of the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony in front of everyone. That’s a direct challenge to the authority of our Great Snow Mountain! And you’re siding with outsiders? What do you mean by that!" the Venerable from the Three Swords Sect demanded furiously.
He had a very positive impression of Chu Feng and, conversely, no good feelings toward Spirit Sword Valley. One could even say he despised them.
Therefore, he didn’t believe Chu Feng was in the wrong. In fact, he strongly approved of his actions.
"Regardless, the Three Swords Sect will not agree to any punishment for Venerable Chu Feng!" another Martial Arts Venerable from the Three Swords Sect declared.
"Heh. Chu Feng, don’t forget you deserted your post for many days. That in itself is a violation of the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony’s rules. Kicking you out would be perfectly reasonable!" a Martial Arts Venerable sneered at that moment.
"Is there something wrong with you people from the Snow Lotus Sect? Someone openly caused trouble during the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony, yet instead of defending our own, you insist on helping outsiders come after one of us. What is your motive? In any case, no matter what you say, I support Venerable Chu Feng!"
"Anyone who dares cause trouble at the Martial Arts Grand Ceremony—no matter who they are or what their Cultivation is—should be slain without exception!" yet another Martial Arts Venerable declared in support of Chu Feng.
"What? You have a problem with my absence as well? Am I not allowed to leave if I have urgent business? Besides, the Sect Leader of my Celestial Sword Sect already cleared it with the Seven Kills Sword Master," Chu Feng said.
"Yes, the Celestial Sword Sect Leader did speak to me about it," the Seven Kills Sword Master chimed in. "Though Chu Feng was absent from his post, no incidents occurred. It’s in the past, so there is no need to mention it again." His status was high and his strength immense, so his words carried great weight.
Of course, the power Chu Feng had now displayed was also incredibly formidable. To single-handedly and effortlessly slay an expert of the Human Martial Arts Peak Realm Cultivation was a rare feat.
Typically, only an expert who had reached the Human Martial Arts Limit could achieve something like that.
Everyone present was perfectly aware of just how formidable the Celestial Sword Sect had become.
"Enough of this nonsense! There are twenty-four Martial Arts Venerables here. Let’s vote. If more than half agree, Chu Feng must be stripped of his post!" Venerable Xue Feng declared, no longer holding back.
After all, the Snow Mountain Sect’s Leader’s wife was from Spirit Sword Valley, so it was a given that his faction would side with them.
"Very well. We will decide this by vote," the Seven Kills Sword Master said, seeing no other way to resolve the dispute.
On Chu Feng’s side, he had the support of five sects, including the Three Swords Sect and the Celestial Sword Sect, which amounted to a total of ten votes. If the Seven Kills Sect also supported him, the vote would be tied, and Chu Feng could not be removed from his post.
But when the voting actually began, the result was beyond everyone’s expectations. More than half of the members, including the Seven Kills Sect, voted in support of Chu Feng.
