Chapter 92 93: They Are All My People

Lu Yi's eyes lit up. He'd never thought of that before.

He hadn't expected his father to be so much more farsighted.

"That's simple. The finance department is full of my people. No matter who she picks, I'll be able to connect with them. If she doesn't trust anyone from Finance, I'll have my own guys apply for the position."

Lu Baichuan turned to the flustered and exasperated former directors.

"See? There are still plenty of moves we can make. I just don't get you people. What's the rush? You're just embarrassing yourselves!"

The former directors hung their heads, not daring to even look up.

"Alright, alright, cheer up, everyone. The good days are still ahead of us!"

Inside a small meeting room at the Li Group.

Zhu Qiyu and the Li Family signed the transfer agreement. He then shook hands with Li Xue and Li Yinhe.

"I'm truly delighted to become an investor in the Li Group today. My interactions with you both have shown me that the success of the Li Group is inseparable from your kindness."

"This will serve as an excellent reference for my future investments."

After the pleasantries, he added, "Our finance department has already started the process. The funds will be in your account before the end of the business day at three o'clock."

"I hope that with my support, Chairman Li, you can become the next Qiao Canhua."

'Sheesh, what a thing to say.'

'Li Yinhe had never dreamed of becoming someone like that.'

"Then I'll take that as a blessing. The Li Group will continue to operate under its founding principles, building better and more affordable homes for the people," Li Yinhe said with a smile to Zhu Qiyu.

'To be honest, Zhu Qiyu's previous attempts at flattery had all missed the mark, but this last one hit home perfectly.'

Zhu Qiyu's car arrived. He got in and waved to the Li Family.

"Eh? Where's Vice Team Leader Mu?" Zhu Qiyu asked.

'Li Yinhe found that strange. Of all the people to ask about, why Mu Lin?'

"He's on the project team, after all. He's very busy with his work and couldn't get away to see you off."

"If you insist on seeing him, I can arrange it."

"Hahaha, no need!" Zhu Qiyu said, waving his hand. "I'll be on my way!"

'Zhou Qianfan had asked him to carefully study the relationship between Mu Lin and the Li Family. From what he'd seen today, it seemed quite harmonious. He'd have to investigate more deeply, and slowly.'

Watching Zhu Qiyu's car disappear into the distance, Li Xue let out a long sigh of relief.

"Oh my god, that was nerve-wracking! That's Mr. Zhu! A man who lives in the newspaper headlines actually invested in our company! That's incredible!"

Li Yinhe gazed up at the sky. 'Fate really loves to mess with people,' he thought.

His emotions today had been a roller coaster. He'd hit rock bottom, then been tossed through a series of ups and downs, only to be launched to an incredible high with Zhu Qiyu's arrival.

His heart was racing, THUMP-THUMP-THUMP.

It was a good thing he didn't have a heart condition, or he might have just checked out on the spot.

"Mr. Zhu said he dislikes Wu Long's underworld connections," Li Xue said thoughtfully. "Do investors really care about that sort of thing? Shouldn't it just be about what makes the most money?"

Li Yinhe nodded slowly. "What else would you expect from a genius investor, a unicorn hunter?"

"Maybe so," Li Xue said slowly.

Back in the office, Chen Quan and Old Zhou were slumped in their chairs, drenched in sweat and looking completely drained.

Li Yinhe rushed forward, asking with concern:

"Lao Chen, Old Zhou, are you two all right? I'll call an ambulance!"

Chen Quan waved his hand. "What ambulance? We're just scared stiff! Today was like riding an elevator... talk about the thrill of going up and down, this was it!"

Old Zhou also looked dazed. "I was half-afraid I'd already passed out and this was all a dream..."

"That was Zhu Qiyu! Zhu Qiyu!"

"From now on, I guess it'll just be the few of us in this boardroom!"

Li Yinhe laughed. "Having fewer people isn't so bad. We're all on the same page. Like they say, 'when people are of one heart, they can move mountains.' It's certainly better than a large group constantly bickering."

Everyone readily agreed with him.

"But... even though the board is united now, the company itself is still full of hidden problems," Li Xue said, frowning slightly.

"A lot of the mid-level managers are from the Lu Family. They control many of the Group's critical operations. If we replace them, the company will probably grind to a halt."

'Li Yinhe nodded slightly. Of course, the old guard like him already knew this, but the fact that Li Xue had figured it out on her own proved her capabilities were worth acknowledging.'

"Right now, the most critical issue is choosing a CFO. We have to be extremely careful! The Deputy Director is definitely Lu Yi's lackey and will probably just continue to sabotage the Group's interests."

Li Xue clutched her head, already getting a massive headache.

'She couldn't believe it. Her happiness hadn't even lasted that long before she was faced with such a difficult problem.'

Mu Lin walked down the hallway. The atmosphere was chaotic. People were in a panic, all worried about their future.

"What are we going to do... Sigh..."

"Can I make it before closing time?"

Mu Lin paid it no mind. With all the commotion, it would be stranger if his coworkers *didn't* have a reaction.

'At least this time they weren't blockading the office like before. That was a huge improvement.'

Captain Meng was walking toward him. He had firsthand experience of Mu Lin's capabilities.

He had basically watched a live broadcast of Mu Lin's beatdown of Wu Long.

"Vice Team Leader Mu!" Captain Meng came over. "Have you figured out where you're going next? A few of the guards wanted to try their luck at Yuelong Group, but I gave them a piece of my mind."

"The next company? Why would I go to a next company?"

"The company's going under tomorrow! If we don't find new jobs, are we supposed to just go down with the ship? We might be able to get some of our wages today, but once the courts seal the assets tomorrow, it's all over!"

Mu Lin listened. 'What in the world is he talking about?'

"Who told you the company was finished?"

Captain Meng felt comfortable enough to speak his mind to Mu Lin. "Isn't it obvious to anyone with eyes? The bank came to collect on the debt, the directors are all fighting to pull out their shares, and there's definitely not enough money in the accounts to pay the bank. Anyone can see where this is headed, right?"

Mu Lin chuckled. "You need to relax. I'm telling you, you'll definitely regret it if you quit. Tell the other guys on the security team not to quit either. Tell them I said so."

Captain Meng gave a bitter smile. "Vice Team Leader Mu, listen to yourself. Even if you are a trusted confidant of the Li Family, you can't just tell bald-faced lies. If nothing's wrong, then why are all these people lining up to quit?"

'Huh? Lining up to quit?'

Mu Lin genuinely hadn't realized that the people crowded in the hallway were there to quit.

Li Xue emerged from her office, her face a mask of gloom.

An employee with a delighted look on his face walked past her.

"Finally managed to quit! It's not much money, but it's better than getting nothing at all!"

Hearing this, Li Xue froze.

'Quit? What's going on?'

She caught up to the employee and saw he was a member of Project Team Two, one of Xue Yang's subordinates. He should be approachable.

"Wait a minute! You have a good job at the Group. Why are you quitting?"

The employee saw it was Li Xue and gave a polite nod. "President Li! You've been working hard. You should get some rest for a while."

"First, answer my question. Why are you quitting!"

"The HR department said the company is hopelessly insolvent and bankruptcy is just a matter of time. So, we're quitting. If we quit now, we can still get part of our salary."

Li Xue was dumbfounded. 'Who gave that order?' she thought. She was certain she'd never said anything of the sort.

And her father didn't meddle in company affairs, so he wouldn't have done it either.

Then it suddenly hit her. Director Sun, the head of HR, was Lu Yi's man. The two of them were as thick as thieves.

'He must be using this opportunity to try and destroy the company.'

'If everyone quits, the company is finished for sure.'

The employee said, "Oh, I can't talk anymore, I have to hurry to my interview."

'An interview?' Li Xue looked in the direction he was running and was stunned.

Across the street from the company, a man in a white shirt was sitting behind a desk. A long line of people snaked in front of it.

'So that's how it is. You've got some nerve!'

Li Xue sprinted toward the HR department, only to see Mu Lin was also heading in that direction.

Mu Lin said, "So all these people really are waiting to quit."

Li Xue said with a grim face, "Tell me about it! And there's a desk set up outside with another long line—people applying for new jobs. This has to be Lu Yi's doing."

"If we let this go on, there won't be a single employee left in the company."

"Then why haven't you sent out a notice to get the employees back?" Mu Lin asked.

Li Xue sighed. "Director Sun has all the employee contact information; I have no way of accessing it. Since he's determined to cause trouble, there's nothing I can do to stop him."
