My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 79: Transfer the Group in 10 Days
Wu Long sensed something was wrong and hurriedly told the driver, "Go! Get us out of here now!"
The driver started the car and tapped the accelerator, trying to head for the parking garage exit.
But Mu Lin was waiting for them on the only path forward, holding two unconscious masters.
Like a shot putter, Mu Lin hoisted one of the master's bodies over his shoulder and hurled it at the luxury Audi 7-series sedan.
CRASH!
The Audi's reinforced chassis buckled violently.
The luxury car's prized, streamlined body was utterly ruined.
Even a body shop mechanic would scratch their head at the sight. How much work would it take to beat that frame back into shape?
Sitting in the car, Wu Long felt the terror most acutely.
The entire vehicle shook, and his seat felt like a roller coaster, tossing him up and down like a ragdoll.
He had no doubt that if Mu Lin wanted to, he could snap his neck with one hand.
The masters' bodies were wedged under the wheels, preventing the car from moving. The driver floored the accelerator, but the engine only revved violently before stalling.
"Chairman Wu, why don't you get out and have a chat!"
Wu Long's expression was grim. 'How could I possibly get out of the car with him acting like this?' he thought.
If he got out, he was certain to face brutal mistreatment, and he might not even make it out alive.
"Not coming out, huh?"
Mu Lin reached for the handle, but Wu Long immediately locked the doors. He was like a turtle pulling its head into its shell, determined not to let Mu Lin in.
Mu Lin wasn't in a hurry. He simply dug his fingers into the seam between the door and the car's frame.
He pried open a space in the reinforced metal large enough for his hand, shoved it inside, and with a powerful tug, ripped the entire door apart.
Mu Lin reached in, dragged Wu Long out, and tossed him to the ground like a dead chicken. Momentum sent him rolling several times.
Mu Lin clasped his hands behind his back and studied Wu Long. Seeing the rage and venom filling the man's eyes, he knew this wasn't over.
"Well, now. You look pretty upset. Do you think that, just like yesterday, as soon as I turn my back you can just pick yourself up and hire more thugs to come after me?"
"Let me tell you, not a chance!"
Mu Lin raised his hand and delivered dozens of rapid-fire strikes all over Wu Long's body.
The movements were subtle and didn't seem forceful, but Wu Long felt a surge of excruciating pain.
It was as if hundreds, even thousands, of scorpions were crawling all over him.
Wu Long couldn't bear the pain, which seemed to erupt from the very core of his being, and he immediately began to scream.
"AHH… what did you do to me!?"
Mu Lin smiled. "Nothing much. Just a little insurance policy. Ten days. I'm giving you ten days to deliver the Yuelong Group transfer contract to the Li Group and place it on Li Xue's desk. Otherwise…"
Mu Lin drew a finger across his throat. "Don't say I didn't warn you."
Finished, Mu Lin waved a hand at the two thugs who could still breathe:
"Get him out of here! He's an eyesore!"
Mu Lin then turned, headed for an exit, and went upstairs.
A short while later, the Li Group's security guards on patrol reached the scene and froze, dumbfounded.
Why was Wu Long here? And this Audi, without a single undamaged panel, was a body shop's worst nightmare.
What happened?
The Audi's alarm was blaring nonstop, and Wu Long was on the ground, rolling and howling in pain.
The security guards were bewildered. "Captain, what should we do? Should we move the man and the car out of here?"
"Are you kidding? We do him a favor and move him, and what happens when Wu Long turns around and blames us for this?"
"Everyone, back off! There are security cameras here. As long as we don't get involved, it's not our problem!"
The guards had a collective epiphany. It made perfect sense to mind their own business and not get involved.
More importantly, the Yuelong Group and the Li Family were bitter enemies, their feud practically irreconcilable. There was no reason to help him.
Captain Meng of the security team caught a glimpse of a figure flashing past behind him out of the corner of his eye.
'Who was that? Was it someone from our own company who did this?'
The guards couldn't help but be drawn by the bloodcurdling screams, occasionally glancing back.
"Move along, move along! What's there to look at?" Captain Meng said, his face stern.
"But that's Wu Long screaming! We have to record this for the guys."
Furious, Captain Meng landed a kick on the man's backside.
"Get the hell out of here!"
After shooing the guards off to patrol elsewhere, Captain Meng went to the surveillance room alone.
He pulled up all the camera feeds for the underground garage and, after some effort, found the perfect angle.
It showed the entire process of the "vigilante" beating up the men. It was very detailed and incredibly satisfying to watch.
However, he could only make out a blurry figure darting about the parking lot, and it was impossible to zoom in any further.
The Group had always been cheap about upgrading its security cameras, and now it was causing a problem.
If they had the 4K high-definition cameras available on the market, they would've captured every last detail.
'But unfortunately, that wasn't the case. Who would install such high-end cameras in a basement anyway? That'd be ridiculous!'
'Well, if I can't see, I can't see,' he thought. 'In any case, Wu Long getting beaten up is a good thing. Who cares who the unsung hero was?'
Captain Meng returned to the office floors to resume his patrol, only to find the guards huddled together, whispering.
"Don't huddle here. What would people think? If an outsider saw you, they'd think you were slacking off!"
"And another thing, don't go spreading around what just happened. Pretend it never occurred, you hear?"
The guards nodded eagerly, promising up and down.
But Li Xue happened to be walking by and overheard a snippet of the conversation.
"What is it that shouldn't be spread around, Captain Meng? Tell me the truth. Don't try to fool me."
Captain Meng cursed silently. He had no choice but to answer honestly.
"President Li, could we speak in private…?"
Captain Meng led Li Xue to the surveillance room. "President Li, please have a seat. Take a look at this video."
Li Xue pointed at the man getting beaten. "Is that Wu Long? What's he doing here? What kind of job is your security team doing?"
Cold sweat dripped down Captain Meng's forehead. "That is indeed a problem. It might have something to do with the security team's compensation…"
Li Xue shot Captain Meng a look. "Are you implying I don't pay you enough?"
Captain Meng quickly shook his head. "No, no, no! I wanted to show you the video to tell you exactly what happened."
Li Xue didn't stoop to his level. She watched for a moment and felt the silhouette of the person in the video looked somewhat familiar.
'It actually looks a bit like Mu Lin.'
Li Xue pointed at the screen. "Who is this? Can you make him out?"
Captain Meng gave a wry smile. "President Li, you must be joking. Even if this was in 4K, I'm not sure I could identify him. We have so many employees in this company, how could I possibly know them all? And it's so blurry on top of that."
Li Xue sighed. He was right; she was putting Captain Meng in a tough spot.
"What about the cameras at other corners? The elevators? The hallways? The entrances and exits?"
Captain Meng slapped his forehead. "Ah, why didn't I think of that!"
He immediately checked the direction the attacker had gone and started searching the camera feeds from that area.
In less than ten minutes, a figure appeared on one of the feeds.
Li Xue's eyes widened. "Mu Lin!"
'Doesn't he only know a few clumsy moves? I thought he'd just be cowering in a corner if he was surrounded by Wu Long's thugs.'
'How could he be fighting so ferociously?'
'The key thing is, Wu Long's six thugs are all highly skilled, but against Mu Lin, they couldn't even last a single round.'
'He's just too strong.'
"President Li? President Li?" Captain Meng thought she was angry. "Are you… satisfied with the result?"
Li Xue snapped out of her daze. "Save a copy of this image for me. And one more thing, don't let anyone else know about this besides those who already do. Anyone caught spreading rumors will be fired."
Captain Meng's scalp went numb. After sending the image to Li Xue, he quickly checked his social media feed. His vision went dark when he saw that several guards had already posted GIFs of the incident. He frantically messaged each one, demanding they delete the posts.
Only after they were all deleted did he finally let out a sigh of relief.
Wu Long forced himself to endure the pain long enough to have a thug call the company for a car. Only then did his men help him out of the Li Group's underground garage.
Even though seven or eight more of his men arrived, Wu Long didn't dare to act cocky anymore.
'The cost is too high.'
'If things went south, he wouldn't be able to handle the consequences.'
'Mu Lin had already left him practically crippled. How could he possibly stir up more trouble now?'
'Would Mu Lin detonate the hidden poison in his body on the spot?'
'He probably would.'
So, he decisively scurried away with his tail between his legs.
By the time he returned to his office at the Group, the pain hadn't subsided at all. In fact, it was growing even more intense.
