My Most Beautiful Fiancée

Chapter 465 464: Remote Killing

Lord Shangguan was fumbling around, while the Ran father and son held their breath.

They didn't normally get to witness this firsthand.

Usually, they would just deliver the money and leave.

'What if he can't find the medium?' they worried.

But just as they were fretting, Lord Shangguan pulled out something barely perceptible and revealed a satisfied smile.

Although they couldn't see what it was, the Ran father and son's hearts were finally put at ease.

'At least there's no problem!'

"Lord Shangguan, please, make yourself at home. I'll be waiting for your good news!"

The father and son carefully exited the restaurant, leaving the entire main dining hall to Lord Shangguan and the young woman beside him.

In the Lin Family's villa, they were drinking tea.

Everyone was in a foul mood. They had thought everything was going smoothly, but a hidden powerhouse had emerged out of nowhere. It was possible this force controlled all of Di Yang.

Mu Lin wasn't much of a talker, but even he felt the atmosphere was too gloomy. He wracked his brain for something nice to say to cheer up the Lin Family.

But it wasn't very effective.

Suddenly, he felt that something was wrong.

"It's getting late. I'm going to get some rest. All of you, please relax. With my protection, nothing will happen."

With that, he stood up and hurried toward his room.

He then closed the door behind him.

Focusing his mind and holding his breath, he sent out his Yin Spirit. The moment he looked up, Mu Lin saw a transparent old man flying toward him.

The old man held a transparent sword, his aura immense. He had clearly come with killing intent.

'It's a Yin Spirit!'

Mu Lin was startled. This was the first time he had encountered someone else who possessed a Yin Spirit.

'But it makes sense,' Mu Lin thought. 'There are so many Martial Artists in the world, and condensing a Yin Spirit is a major cultivation path. It was only a matter of time before I ran into another one.'

Mu Lin figured that rather than being surprised by the Yin Spirit's existence, he should focus his energy on defeating it.

Lord Shangguan's Yin Spirit looked from afar and saw Mu Lin sitting in a meditative posture, deep in cultivation, and couldn't help but laugh.

"How ridiculous. This kid has no idea he's about to die. Still meditating at a time like this!"

"Tomorrow will be the anniversary of your death!"

Lord Shangguan let out a savage grin and raised the long saber in his hand, preparing to throw it at Mu Lin.

The saber was halfway to its target when another semi-transparent Yin Spirit materialized in the air.

The Yin Spirit of Mu Lin raised a fist and punched, viciously smashing into the long saber.

The blade shattered, turning into pure Yin Elemental Energy, which was assimilated and absorbed by Mu Lin's Yin Spirit.

Mu Lin felt his Yin Spirit grow much stronger.

Lord Shangguan stared at the hilt, the only thing left in his hand, utterly stunned.

"You... you have a Yin Spirit too!"

Mu Lin smiled. "Is that really so surprising?"

Seizing the moment of Lord Shangguan's shock, Mu Lin closed in on him. With a sudden punch, he shattered the spirit to pieces.

Another stream of pure Yin Elemental Power swiftly flowed into his body.

Mu Lin felt that his Yin Spirit's Yin Elemental Power had reached a critical point. Perhaps just one more step was all it needed.

'With all this Yin Elemental Power, I only need a tenth of it to perfect my Yin Spirit. Achieving complete, harmonious integration in one go will be more than enough.'

'I might as well break down the rest into True Qi to fill my Qi Sea and advance my own cultivation base!'

In his Yin Spirit state, Mu Lin acted on his thought instantly. With incredible speed, the pond-like pool of Yin Elemental Power immediately broke down into an incredibly abundant stream of True Qi that poured into Mu Lin's body, making his already formidable True Qi even more powerful.

Mu Lin opened his eyes, in an excellent mood.

'My luck is pretty good, running into someone giving away free cultivation.'

Mu Lin pushed the door open and went out. He noticed not much time had passed. Lin Shishi looked at him and asked, "Are you done sleeping?"

Mu Lin smiled. "I had a small epiphany, so I cultivated for a bit. I feel great now. I'll wander around for a while before actually resting."

Lin Shishi had no interest in Mu Lin's nonsense. She turned to go back to her grandfather and father.

But after two steps, she turned back.

Mu Lin said, "What's wrong?"

Lin Shishi said, "I feel a cool breeze around you."

Mu Lin smiled. "Go back inside your room. It's even cooler in there."

He said this as he walked outside.

Seeing this, Lin Shishi asked, "Didn't you just say you were going to rest? Where are you off to now?"

"I'm going to settle a score with someone. Don't wait up."

After saying this, Mu Lin left in a flash, cutting a dashing figure as he headed straight for a certain place.

Outside Wanhua Restaurant, the Ran father and son were still waiting for news from Lord Shangguan.

'If he can successfully get rid of Mu Lin, that would be wonderful.'

Suddenly, a noise came from inside, and they heard Lord Shangguan let out a wail of agony.

The Ran father and son rushed in, only to see Lord Shangguan lying on his back on the floor, motionless.

Ran Xiong walked forward and said, "Lord Shangguan, what's wrong?"

But he received no response. When he reached out a hand to check, he was terrified—the man wasn't breathing.

Ran Quan said, "Dad, what happened?"

Ran Xiong said in a panic, "He's dead! Lord Shangguan is dead!"

Ran Quan was dumbfounded. "How could that be? It's only been a short while, how could Lord Shangguan be dead? We were waiting outside the whole time, and no one else went in. Who killed Lord Shangguan?"

Ran Xiong shook his head. "I don't know! But he was supposed to be assassinating that Mu Lin, which means his death must be connected to him! It's possible Mu Lin turned the tables and killed him!"

Ran Quan was frantic. "Dad, what do we do?! If he really killed Lord Shangguan, then we're in grave danger too!"

"If he can kill Lord Shangguan from a distance, wouldn't killing us be a piece of cake?"

Of course Ran Xiong had thought of that. He sighed, then stood up and said calmly, "Yes, a piece of cake. Since we're not dead yet, it means he doesn't want to kill us for now. Let's wait! I think he'll be here soon!"

Before long, Mu Lin arrived at Wanhua Restaurant.

Ran Xiong had already cleaned up the scene. The dining hall looked no different than before, refreshingly tidy.

"You must be Mr. Mu, right? What a dignified bearing. You are truly formidable, I'm deeply impressed!"

Mu Lin said, "Where's the man from just now? The assassin you sent."

Ran Xiong said, "He's dead! I've already taken care of the body. After this, I've decided not to oppose you any longer, Mr. Mu. I agree to your conditions! I only ask that we can end this conflict between us."

Mu Lin said, "Too late. If you had agreed earlier, those terms might still be valid. Now, that's impossible. You'll have to accept my new terms."

Ran Xiong said, "Alright! I will make a new offer!"

"This Wanhua Restaurant is yours. Additionally, I have two other villas; I'll give them to you as well!"

"And on top of that, three billion in cash. I hope, Mr. Mu, that our families can bury the hatchet."

Mu Lin said, "Cut the crap. Such a severe lowball, who do you think you're fooling? My previous demand was five billion. Now you're trying to fob me off with a pile of worthless junk. Do you think I'm a pushover?"

Ran Xiong was on the verge of tears. "Mr. Mu, please have mercy! This is all the money our family has! Any more and we'll be destitute!"

Mu Lin said, "Hypocrite! Destitute? How are you going to be destitute? With a group this massive right here, you're claiming you'll be destitute? Why don't you just go die!"

Ran Xiong said patiently, "Sir, you must understand, our family doesn't own the Jade Pavilion District!"

Mu Lin said, "And the Patrol Team isn't owned by my family either. You and your son can go where you're supposed to go."

Ran Xiong was secretly delighted. 'There's definitely no record of it. No record means no evidence. There's no way they'd expend massive resources to investigate this.'

'This Mu Lin is just bluffing. He's making a lot of trouble, but in the end, he'll still have to rely on conventional methods to resolve this.'

Mu Lin said, "The Patrol Team and the Military Suppression Bureau might not be able to find any flaws in your story. Whether for technical reasons or through your connections, you can always find a perfect solution. In that case, I'll just have a captain-level master experience it firsthand..."

At first, Ran Xiong couldn't help but feel nervous again, but hearing Mu Lin's words, he relaxed even more. The "captain" could only be referring to Jiang Long.

But Jiang Long's recent condition and what had happened to him were already common knowledge.

'Jiang Long is seriously injured. He's like a clay idol crossing a river—he can barely fend for himself, let alone get involved in this. Huh? So the issue here is actually a big one... which means this is most likely just a bluff. How troublesome!'

"Mr. Mu, must we really let things get this ugly?"
