My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 447 446: Less than 1 Hour
This injury of his was an old one, and he hadn't been able to find a renowned doctor anywhere who could treat it.
He had already been to Beijing, where Elder Hua had told him the risks were immense. Unless he was willing to bet his life on it, it was better not to make a rash attempt.
Wen Jinsong had wanted to see Sun the Saint Hand, but he had since disappeared without a trace, so that was a dead end.
But he suspected that even if Sun the Saint Hand were around, the conclusion would likely be the same.
He hadn't really wanted to come this time. It would just be another cycle of hope followed by disappointment, which was utterly pointless.
But seeing Mu Lin so effortlessly list all of his ailments, a significant spark of hope rekindled in Wen Jinsong's heart.
"Young friend, you're quite something. My injuries are this severe, yet you were able to lay out all my problems so clearly in one go. Truly impressive!"
"My Dantian is still intact, but internally it's a complete mess. Countless issues are in conflict with one another, and I can only manage to keep the basic structure from collapsing."
"I have to maintain it with my full concentration. If my focus slips for even a moment, my Dantian will start to roil again, bringing me to the brink of collapse."
Wen Jinsong watched Mu Lin intently, hoping for a definite answer. "And from what you just said, young friend, as long as my Dantian is still intact, you have a way to cure me?"
Mu Lin laughed. "But of course."
Wen Jinsong's eyes lit up, but his gaze immediately sharpened. "Don't just spout nonsense, young friend. The price for offending a Land Immortal is steep."
"Of course I know that," Mu Lin said. "If I dare to make the claim, I will certainly see it through."
"Wen Xian, please come upstairs with me to the treatment room."
"In just one hour, I will have you back at your peak."
Mu Lin's claim was so bold it made everyone present tense up.
'Is he kidding?'
'One hour? That's not even enough time to complete a single circulatory cycle!'
Tai Weiguo said, "Young man, I went to see Divine Doctor Hua myself. Even he said he couldn't guarantee a complete recovery for Wen Xian. For you to speak so casually... it almost makes me wonder if Divine Doctor Hua was lying to me."
Mu Lin replied, "I believe Divine Doctor Hua was being honest. His response was based on his own judgment, which I can understand and accept."
"But just because he can't do it doesn't mean I can't. Please understand the distinction. If I say I can do it, I can."
Those words made Tai Weiguo break out in a cold sweat. Mu Lin was being far too arrogant.
'That's Divine Doctor Hua he's talking about! The man has countless disciples and apprentices.'
'Even though their influence is mostly in the north, with few followers among the Nanjiang people, it's still an incredibly uncomfortable situation.'
'Especially since he's probably just bluffing.'
Wen Jinsong, however, just laughed. "Heh, interesting. This is the kind of spirit a young man ought to have."
"Since you've made such a claim, I'll choose to believe you for now! If you can cure my injury, I will owe you a favor."
Mu Lin's reaction was placid. He pointed upstairs and said, "Enough idle talk. Wen Xian, please head up."
Wen Jinsong let out a hearty laugh, then with a light tap of his toes on the ground, he soared into the air and landed on the second-floor landing.
Pei Yuliang, who had never witnessed such a scene, was utterly astonished, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
It was said that martial arts mastery allowed one to leap over rooftops and scale walls, but he had never seen it in person.
Now, he was finally seeing the real thing!
This only strengthened his resolve to train hard.
Mu Lin calmly walked up the stairs and entered the treatment room.
The door clicked shut.
Ling Qiao said, "If Mu Lin can't cure Wen Xian, do you think Wen Xian will just kill him?"
Ling Qiao was clearly nervous, and Pei Zhenjun felt much the same. After all, the mindset of a Land Immortal was far removed from that of ordinary people; it was difficult to predict their actions using common logic.
Tai Weiguo chuckled. "Wen isn't that unreasonable. Mu Lin is willing to help him, so he certainly wouldn't repay kindness with malice. Of course, if Mu Lin turns out to be a villain who approached him with ill intent... well, that's another matter."
Pei Zhenjun quickly interjected, "Mu Lin is a good kid! He healed me with his own two hands! If you're calling him a villain, then you might as well call me one too!"
"Old Pei, don't be so tense. I didn't mean it like that. It was just a joke!"
Ling Qiao pressed her lips together. After a long pause, she said, "I just hope Mu Lin comes out of this okay."
Time trickled by. Lost in their own thoughts, the occupants of the hall fell silent.
A little over fifty minutes later, the door to the treatment room opened. A young man who looked to be in his early thirties walked out.
Then, with a light push-off, he floated gracefully down to the floor below.
Everyone was stunned. 'Who is this stranger?'
Tai Weiguo exclaimed excitedly, "Elder Wen! Your cultivation has been restored!"
Wen Jinsong roared with laughter. "Mu Lin is simply divine! That kid's skills are truly something else!"
Tai Weiguo clapped his hands several times, overcome with excitement.
As Mu Lin slowly walked down the stairs, Wen Jinsong, having been treated by him, was filled with an immense sense of respect.
"Mr. Mu, please, have a seat!"
He immediately brewed a cup of tea and offered it to Mu Lin. "Thank you for saving my life, Mr. Mu!"
Ling Qiao's jaw hung open, her expression a mess of conflicting emotions.
'Mu Lin is just too incredible.'
Wen Jinsong pulled a bank card from his pocket and placed it in front of Mu Lin. "Mr. Mu, this is my life's savings—a little over four billion. It's just a small token of my gratitude. Please, you must accept it!"
'What am I supposed to do with this much money?' Mu Lin thought, feeling awkward.
"I can't, it's too much! So much that my conscience won't be clear!" Mu Lin said hastily.
"It's not too much at all!" Tai Weiguo said. "You should know, Mr. Wen isn't usually like this. It's rare for him to give money away, and for him to offer this much at once proves his sincerity. It's best if you accept."
Mu Lin let out a long sigh and finally took the card. "Alright then. It would be rude to refuse."
He had a feeling that if he kept treating people like this, it wouldn't be long before he became the richest man in the world.
'But a man fears fame just as a pig fears growing fat. If everyone knew of my medical skills, I'd never know a moment's peace.'
'There would definitely be people who'd want to control me, people who would stop at nothing.'
'My peaceful days would be over.'
Mu Lin suddenly said, "Grandmaster Tai, Wen Xian, I don't want anyone else to know about what happened today. Can you please keep it a secret?"
"Wen Xian can say he healed himself, or that he had some fortuitous encounter and his injuries recovered on their own. Just please, whatever you do, don't say it was me!"
Both Wen Jinsong and Tai Weiguo were shrewd men; they knew exactly what Mu Lin was worried about.
"Rest assured, Divine Doctor Mu, it absolutely won't get out!" Wen Jinsong boomed with laughter.
With everyone having reached an agreement, the atmosphere became much more relaxed.
Having a Land Immortal healed right under their roof was a momentous occasion for the Pei Family.
Pei Zhenjun had the housekeeper prepare a meal, and they all had lunch together.
After lunch, Mu Lin took his leave of the Pei Family and immediately called Jiang Long.
When Jiang Long heard it was Mu Lin on the line, he let out a long sigh of relief.
'Mu Lin got in touch. This means my injury can be treated.'
After a brief conversation, Jiang Long invited Mu Lin to his villa.
Jiang Long forcibly suppressed his excitement, pretending to be nonchalant as he asked:
"Mr. Mu, have you had lunch? I can have the chef whip something up for you."
"I've already eaten, Team Leader Jiang. You're too kind. Let's get started. I've brought the Thunder Fruit."
HUH?!
Jiang Long was utterly stunned. "The Thunder Fruit?!"
He hadn't expected Mu Lin to actually get his hands on a Thunder Fruit. He would have been incredibly grateful if Mu Lin could have just alleviated his symptoms.
And yet, here he was, with the key to his recovery—the absolute most critical component—the Thunder Fruit itself.
Mu Lin took out the Thunder Fruit and placed it in an empty fruit bowl in front of Jiang Long.
Jiang Long trembled. "Mr. Mu, may I ask... where did you find this?"
"I went and picked it myself," Mu Lin replied.
Mu Lin said it casually and began to get busy, leaving Jiang Long utterly flabbergasted.
'This wasn't some wild fruit you could just pick by the roadside. Treasures like this were typically controlled with deadly force by the major powers. They would never allow outsiders to get near.'
'I can only imagine the trouble Mu Lin must have gone through to overcome those obstacles. I'll have to investigate how he managed to get the Thunder Fruit later.'
'Leaving this unclear won't do.'
Mu Lin picked up the Thunder Fruit and placed it in Jiang Long's hand. "Eat it. Quickly."
The corner of Jiang Long's mouth twitched. He nodded. "Right, okay!"
He took a bite, and a tingling, numbing sensation immediately exploded in his mouth.
