My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 420 419: Fooling
The security guards tried to stop Mu Lin, but he fought his way from the entrance to the elevators.
A secretary came forward, which made Mu Lin dial back his killing intent. But it was only a temporary restraint; he had no intention of abandoning his murderous goal.
"Mr. Mu, our Chairman Gong would like to see you!"
Mu Lin pursed his lips and followed the secretary.
A moment later, they arrived at the conference room.
Mu Lin and Gong Jintang locked eyes.
"Chairman Gong, I didn't expect we'd be seeing each other again so soon!"
Gong Jintang said, "Mr. Mu, your timing is perfect. There are a few things I've been wanting to explain to you! There's really no deep-seated hatred between us..."
Mu Lin said, "You made a move against the Qiao Family, and you say there's no deep-seated hatred? Does that mean you're allowed to kill people, but I'm not allowed to kill you?"
Gong Jintang replied, "But no one from the Qiao Family died. No irreversible harm was done. We still have plenty of opportunity to resolve this conflict."
"Name your price. I'll meet it, and we can put this matter behind us."
'How ridiculous,' Mu Lin thought. It seemed that in Gong Jintang's eyes, everything could be measured in money.
"You're truly pathetic," Mu Lin said, sizing up Gong Jintang. "You have no right to bargain with me. Hand over the person behind you—that Elder Deng."
Gong Jintang said, "Mr. Mu, does this mean you're determined to see this end badly? Is there no room for discussion?"
Mu Lin replied, "I don't negotiate with people who can't call the shots."
Gong Jintang said, "That's a shame. There's no way you'll ever meet Elder Deng alive!"
"If you insist on seeing him, then you can leave your life behind!"
After speaking, Gong Jintang glanced at Elder Jue. Elder Jue shot to his feet, walked to the front of the room, and slammed his palm onto the conference table.
A powerful force left a deep impression on the tabletop, a rather terrifying sight.
Mu Lin, however, remained calm. He slapped his own palm on the table, and a powerful blast of Primordial Gang Force erupted, rushing straight toward Elder Jue.
Elder Jue's attack was neutralized halfway by the Primordial Gang Force. The only victim was the solid wood conference table.
A bowl-sized crater was left in the middle of the table, filled with wood splinters. It was a disgusting sight.
Elder Jue said grimly, "You're very skilled. You had a good master who gave you a solid foundation. But that's all. Such fine potential is going to die here today. What a waste!"
Mu Lin sneered. "Since you've made a move, I suppose it's my turn to return the favor."
As he spoke, Mu Lin slapped the edge of the table. An invisible blade seemed to materialize, slicing a path straight from where Mu Lin stood to right in front of Elder Jue.
Elder Jue recognized it: projected Gang Force. 'But how could projected Gang Force be so powerful? This doesn't seem so simple!'
Normal Gang Force was more like the strike he had just delivered.
This attack from Mu Lin was truly horrifying. Even in his wildest imagination, Elder Jue couldn't have conceived of such a powerful display.
In the instant he was stunned, his shoulder was struck. His left arm was sheared off at the shoulder in a flash, and his other hand was a mangled mess of flesh and blood.
"Urk..." Elder Jue was in agony. He wasn't made of iron. How could a body of mere flesh and blood not feel pain?
At the same time, the severed, mangled arm fell to the floor, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Terrified, Gong Jintang scrambled backward, his mind blank except for the desperate need to escape this horrifying scene.
'This is Elder Jue! He's Elder Deng's number one expert! I've never heard of him losing a fight.'
But now, though Elder Jue was forcing himself to remain standing, he had lost all of his earlier imposing aura.
It was less that he was still standing and more that he *could only* stand. If he relaxed for even a moment, his breath might fail, and he would perish on the spot.
Elder Jue did his best to control his breathing and stop the bleeding.
After a frantic few moments, Elder Jue barely managed to save his own life.
"That's the Primordial Gang Force of Celestial Dragon Temple! How did you learn it so quickly?!"
The fall of Celestial Dragon Temple had happened just two days ago. It was unthinkable that Mu Lin had already mastered its techniques so proficiently.
'This is terrifying. Even Master Mingjue practiced for years just to get started. His current strength was the result of life-or-death training.'
In two days, Mu Lin had caught up to their lifetime of effort.
Such comprehension was unexpectedly, monstrously powerful.
Mu Lin stomped his foot. The floor suddenly cracked, and a tremendous force shot through the ground, rushing toward Elder Jue along the rapidly spreading fissures.
Elder Jue was horrified. If that attack hit him, he would be dead or severely wounded.
Having already lost an arm, Elder Jue scrambled to flee for his life. But the force seemed to be alive; wherever he ran, it pursued him.
The feeling was truly sickening.
Elder Jue shouted, "Gong Jintang, do something, quickly!"
As if waking from a dream, Gong Jintang reached into his pocket, grabbed something, and pressed it hard.
Mu Lin paused. He suddenly felt as if something—or someone—had locked onto him.
Every fiber of his being was screaming a warning.
But Mu Lin suddenly closed the distance to Elder Jue and seized him by the neck.
"What are you doing?!" Elder Jue roared.
"Nothing," Mu Lin said flatly, then hoisted Elder Jue into the air.
Elder Jue found this all very strange. He was stunned. 'What is he doing?'
To his shock, a bullet tore through his forehead, leaving two large holes—one in the front and one in the back of his head.
"Elder Jue!" Gong Jintang cried out in desperation.
But the man was already dead. What could be done?
Then a thought struck Gong Jintang. How had Mu Lin dodged it? 'Could he possibly have known there was a sniper waiting to ambush him?'
'If so, he's far too incredible.'
Mu Lin looked in a certain direction. The sniper over there was still in position, not moving an inch.
Mu Lin curled his lip. 'This guy's adorably stupid. He doesn't even know to change position.'
'If he doesn't relocate, he's just asking to die!'
Mu Lin held two fingers together and aimed them in that direction.
A Profound Thunder Aura, combined with surging True Qi, swirled around his fingertips. Once unleashed, its speed was destined to be much faster than a bullet.
That sniper had no hope of escaping.
The distant sniper was dead before he could even react.
Back in the conference room, Mu Lin looked at Gong Jintang. "Alright, now let's see your next trick. Don't tell me you're out of moves. That would be far too boring."
Gong Jintang's hands and feet went cold. Mu Lin was simply too terrifying. 'I never should have provoked him in the first place!'
He could only respond with silence.
Mu Lin said:
"Out of tricks, are we? If you are, that means you're finished. My turn to ask the questions. Is Elder Deng at Cyan Void Mountain?"
This… Gong Jintang froze.
He hadn't said a thing. How could Mu Lin be so strong and know so much?
Gong Jintang considered playing dumb and trying to bluff his way through it.
But Mu Lin said bluntly, "Still thinking of lying to me? The last person who tried to curse me to death already exposed Elder Deng's location when he died. It'll be next to impossible for you to hide it now. Don't push your luck."
Gong Jintang sighed heavily. "So what if you know the location? You'll still never be able to get to Elder Deng!"
"Kid, your strength is indeed far greater than others, but that won't matter to Elder Deng, because you'll never even be able to touch him!"
Mu Lin raised an eyebrow. He flicked his finger, and a bolt of force shot straight into Gong Jintang's face.
"It seems you're still looking to die."
The invisible force smashed into Gong Jintang's face, sending two large teeth flying out.
Mu Lin sneered. "The matter with Yuan Kun's family… you were the one who ordered it, weren't you?"
Gong Jintang said, "You're getting involved in that too? It was just ordinary business competition. I never intended to kill anyone."
From the very beginning, Gong Jintang's only mission had been to kill Madam Qiao. Everything else he did was just to put pressure on Mu Lin.
Mu Lin's face was cold. "Why kill Madam Qiao? What grievance could she possibly have with you?"
Gong Jintang replied, "There was no grievance! But if we could make Qiao Canhua lose his mind, we could take over his businesses in Lanyang!"
Mu Lin narrowed his eyes. 'These bastards are more resourceful than I thought, coming up with all these schemes.'
"So, is Xu Jishan on Cyan Void Mountain? All I need is a yes or a no. Answer quickly. I'm a busy man."
Mu Lin's words infuriated Gong Jintang. He slammed his fists on the table repeatedly, but it was useless.
