My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 392 391: That Piece of Land
'He's so skilled in medicine, yet so polite. It's incredible...'
The old woman said gratefully to Mu Lin, "Mu Lin, thank you so, so much!"
Mu Lin smiled. "You're welcome. Please, have a seat on the sofa first. I'll insert the needles for you."
The old woman was thrilled and cooperatively sat down on the sofa.
Shi Huiguang approached slowly and cautiously, asking very carefully,
"Divine Doctor Mu, may I watch?"
Mu Lin smiled. "Suit yourself."
He paid Shi Huiguang no mind.
Mu Lin's technique was incredibly deft, and he inserted the needles with ease.
Mu Lin determined that her restlessness was caused by coagulated blood blocking the flow in her meridians.
The principle was quite simple, and Mu Lin proceeded with the treatment based on this idea.
But halfway through, he realized something was wrong. There was actually a trace of Spiritual Qi in the old woman's knee joint.
This was a situation Mu Lin had absolutely not expected.
"Ma'am, where did you fall? And did your right knee hit the ground?"
"Yes! Of course it did! Anyway, it hurt a lot. It took me several days to recover."
"Can you remember where you fell? I'd like to go have a look. Could you show me the way?"
The old woman squinted and tried hard to recall. After all, Mu Lin was a great and famous doctor, so she thought about it very seriously.
"It's the same if you have Zizi take you. It was on the back mountain."
Mu Lin smiled. "I understand now. Thank you for your cooperation, Ma'am. I'm sure you will live a long and healthy life."
The old woman was amused. "HAHAHA, live a long and healthy life! I'm not aiming for that!"
Mu Lin smiled. "Why wouldn't you? If you feel any discomfort, just tell me. I guarantee I'll keep you comfortable."
This...
The old woman's eyes lit up. She was beginning to understand what Mu Lin was saying. He wanted to take full responsibility for her health.
That was, of course, a wonderful thing!
"HAHAHA, as long as you have the heart to do it, that's just wonderful!"
With a casual wipe of his hand, Mu Lin completely eliminated the trace of Spiritual Qi in an instant.
"Ma'am, do you still feel any pain?"
The old woman stretched out her leg, felt it for a moment, and laughed heartily. "My heavens, it doesn't hurt anymore! It feels so comfortable! Mu Lin, they said you were a Divine Doctor, and they weren't exaggerating one bit!"
Mu Lin smiled faintly. "You're too kind."
He Zheng puffed out her chest and looked smugly at Qu Renjie. "See? The person I brought gets results. Yours doesn't!"
Qu Renjie was practically fuming, but being completely powerless was just too frustrating.
Mu Lin nodded toward Shi Huiguang. "Divine Doctor Shi, would you mind helping me out? Please go and get the herbs."
Shi Huiguang nodded quickly. "Yes, of course!"
He didn't dare to refuse in the slightest. What could he do? He was out of his league.
If he had Mu Lin's level of skill, he wouldn't have to be afraid of anything.
Qu Zizi came forward, wanting to help her grandmother up, but to her surprise, the old woman stood up on her own, moving with perfect ease.
Only then did Qu Zizi remember that her grandmother was already healed. She said joyfully,
"Grandma, you're standing!"
Qu Zizi was ecstatic.
The old woman was also very happy. As if she hadn't walked properly in a long time, she paced back and forth in the living room.
"This is wonderful. I can do housework like I used to again."
Qu Zizi looked at Mu Lin, her voice filled with emotion. "Mu Lin, thank you. Without you, I'm afraid this wouldn't have been possible for my grandma."
Mu Lin smiled. "It was a small matter. A doctor's duty is to be benevolent. When you see someone suffering, it's only natural to help."
"I'd like to go see the place where your grandmother fell. Is that alright? Can you take me there?"
"Of course, no problem! Anything you want!" 'If Mu Lin were a little bolder and asked me to spend the night with him, I would agree without hesitation,' Qu Zizi thought.
Just showing him the way to where her grandma fell? That was an incredibly easy request.
"No problem!"
Mu Lin said, "After Divine Doctor Shi brings back the medicine, we'll head over."
"Whatever you say!"
But just then, Mu Lin's phone rang. He picked it up and saw it was a call from Yun Cheng.
"Captain Yun!"
Yun Cheng said very seriously, "Mr. Mu, where are you? Deputy Captain Bi has been trying to find you to discuss something!"
Mu Lin told him his location, and Yun Cheng quickly jotted it down.
"Deputy Captain Bi wants to explain the situation regarding Lu Jing. Could you possibly go easy on him and not be too harsh?"
Mu Lin didn't answer directly. "Oh."
Then he hung up the phone.
Qu Zizi felt something was odd and looked at Mu Lin. "Divine Doctor Mu, is something wrong?"
Mu Lin said, "It's nothing."
Just then, Shi Huiguang returned. Mu Lin pointed at Qu Renjie and said,
"You haven't done anything to help your grandmother. Now's the time. You can brew the medicine!"
'Brew the medicine...' Qu Renjie thought to himself. 'I'm a big shot who runs a company. How could I possibly do a menial task like brewing medicine?'
But since Mu Lin had appointed him, and his mother's gaze had already fallen on him, there was no escaping it now.
How could he possibly go against his mother?
So this was now a very troublesome situation.
"Don't worry. I'll prepare the herbs. In three hours, just add a bowl of water. You don't need to handle anything else."
Qu Renjie nodded hurriedly. "Yes! Yes! I've got it!"
Shi Huiguang was very interested in the place Mu Lin wanted to see, but he felt immense pressure just being around Mu Lin. It was truly unbearable.
So, he chose not to go.
Qu Zizi walked in the lead, accompanying Mu Lin and He Zheng toward that piece of land.
Qu Zizi said, "My family is in the tea business. We started out by growing tea, and we still have some of the land. The place where Grandma fell used to be a tea grove, but it's been left to recover its soil fertility. I can't believe she fell there. My dad thought the land was bad luck after that, so he stopped planting tea trees there."
"My dad buys tea leaves and sells them elsewhere, helping every household here build new houses and start businesses. But then my grandma had such a terrible fall... it just feels wrong. It's like no good deed goes unpunished."
Mu Lin smiled. "You're overthinking it. Your grandmother just had some trouble with her leg, and now she's all better. What's so bad about that?"
Qu Zizi thought for a moment, but not too hard, and finally sighed. "I guess you have a point, maybe? Anyway, my dad said he's not doing any more good deeds."
Mu Lin was speechless. There was nothing he could say; it was Mr. Qu's choice, and he couldn't interfere too much.
Qu Zizi pointed into the distance. "Look over there. See that barren patch on the mountainside? That's the place!"
Mu Lin squinted. It was a patch of pitch-black soil, looking as if someone had smeared ink on the verdant green mountain. It was very conspicuous.
Mu Lin said, "You said that barren patch was left fallow to recover its soil fertility? Really?"
Qu Zizi said, "Actually, it's a lot more complicated than that. It's a strange piece of land. When you plant seeds there, they don't react at all."
"My dad thought it would be a waste to let the land sit, so he invited experts to study it. They found that there was nothing wrong with the soil. In fact, it was precisely because the nutrients were so much richer than the surrounding land that nothing would grow."
"Thankfully, the patch itself isn't very large, so we just left it alone."
'Is that so...' Mu Lin narrowed his eyes. "So that's how it is, huh? Then I think I have a good idea of what's going on."
Qu Zizi pouted. 'How does Mu Lin know everything?'
'Agricultural experts and soil specialists couldn't figure out the reason, so how does Mu Lin know?'
'Don't tell me you're an agricultural expert in addition to being a Divine Doctor?'
'That would be too ridiculous.'
"You really know?" Qu Zizi was still puzzled.
"I'm fairly certain."
As he said this, Mu Lin took the lead, heading directly for the mountainside patch. The others hurried to follow him.
He Zheng said, "Mu Lin, don't just walk off! Tell us, why is this place so strange? Why are its nutrients several times richer than anywhere else?"
Mu Lin chuckled. "This place isn't your average field. You can't plant ordinary crops here."
"What the hell? Then what *can* you plant here?" He Zheng felt her mind go numb. What Mu Lin was saying was just too far-fetched.
"Well, fruits, vegetables, grains, and so on... none of those will work," Mu Lin said slowly.
'Isn't that the same as saying nothing?' He Zheng thought. 'The "ordinary crops" he mentioned are basically all agricultural products.'
'If this land could still be useful after all that, it would be utterly absurd.'
Qu Zizi wasn't too happy either.
