My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 351 350: Getting 1 Life Back
After they had eaten and had some tea, Su Nuan hailed a taxi and took Mu Lin to a dilapidated neighborhood.
The houses here were all run-down and dilapidated; you could tell they were old at a glance.
Su Nuan ran toward a courtyard and shoved the gate open.
"Senior Brother!" she called out, her voice full of joy and liveliness.
It was clearly an act, put on intentionally to reassure her senior brother.
Mu Lin followed her to a side room on the east wing. Inside, a pale-faced, middle-aged man lay on the bed, looking impossibly weak.
Mu Lin could feel the man's life force slowly draining away. Without intervention, his life was already on a countdown.
Su Nuan said with a smile:
"This is my senior brother, Zhu Tong!"
Mu Lin nodded, extending his divine sense to cover Zhu Tong's body.
'These injuries are indeed tricky.'
"Senior Brother, this is Mu Lin. He's an incredibly, incredibly skilled doctor. The last time I was being hunted, he was the one who saved my life."
Hearing that Mu Lin was his junior sister's savior, Zhu Tong immediately tried to get up, but a sharp, intense pain shot through his body and forced him back down.
He apologized helplessly to Mu Lin. "Mr. Mu, I'm sorry. I can't get up to receive you properly."
Mu Lin smiled. "Don't worry about it. Just stay lying down. Your injuries are quite troublesome; every one of them was aimed to be fatal. Did you run into an old enemy?"
Zhu Tong said, "Just as you said, it was indeed an enemy. If a group of people hadn't happened to pass by, I would've been long dead."
Su Nuan asked, "Mr. Mu, can my senior brother still be cured?"
Mu Lin considered it. Whether he *could* be treated wasn't the issue. The real question was whether Zhu Tong was *worth* treating.
'What if he's a bad guy?'
'Then I'll just have to kill him again later.' The thought crossed Mu Lin's mind, and with that, he settled the matter.
"Yes, but it will require some medicinal herbs. Can you get them?"
Su Nuan said, "Just tell me what you need, and I'll go find them immediately!"
But Mu Lin gave a wry smile. "They are all extremely expensive herbs. Even if you found them, you might not be able to afford them."
Su Nuan gritted her teeth. "Just tell me the price. I'll do anything for my senior brother."
She was even contemplating how to become a ruthless bandit and rob those unscrupulous rich merchants.
Mu Lin thought for a moment. "It won't be less than a hundred million."
Mu Lin didn't have a deep understanding of the market price for herbs; he just threw out a number based on a feeling.
It was based on the prices his old master mentioned, with some adjustments.
After all, the herbs his old master talked about were the most common ones imaginable.
But he hadn't expected that here, they would be considered so extraordinary.
'This makes my own ideas rather interesting.'
Zhu Tong's injuries were exceptionally difficult. From top to bottom, every part of his body that could be broken, was. His enemy must have harbored a deep-seated grudge, attacking his entire body and shattering all his meridians.
If it weren't for the resilience of his cultivated physical body, he would have died long ago.
"That's... so much money..." Su Nuan was stunned. 'I'm pretty good-looking,' she thought. 'If it really comes down to it, I could always take an unorthodox path.'
But the enormous number still overwhelmed her imagination.
Heaven knows how much money that was. She was afraid that even if she let herself be "broken" by others, she still wouldn't be able to come up with that sum.
Su Nuan fell into utter despair, truly not knowing if she could even save her senior brother anymore.
Zhu Tong felt the same way. He was already thinking about how to arrange his own funeral.
He even considered ending his own life to lessen Su Nuan's burden.
Mu Lin said, "Miss Su, don't be so anxious. That's the price for a complete cure for Mr. Zhu. After all, some of these injuries have damaged his foundation, which isn't so easy to fix."
"If we're just talking about keeping him alive and able to live a normal life, perhaps it won't be so expensive."
Hearing this, Su Nuan let out a long sigh of relief. Mu Lin's dramatic pauses were just too terrifying.
Mu Lin wrote out a prescription and handed it to Su Nuan. "Take this to get the medicine. It'll be less than ten thousand for a month's supply. I imagine you can afford that, right?"
Su Nuan nodded.
They still had some savings. It wasn't a small amount, so they could afford this medicine.
She hurried off to fill the prescription. Seizing the opportunity, Mu Lin began to perform acupuncture on Zhu Tong.
Zhu Tong remained conscious. Lying down, he watched Mu Lin perform the acupuncture, feeling as if there were some kind of magic in his technique. He immediately felt much more comfortable.
"Divine Doctor Mu, you are truly incredible," Zhu Tong said. "Not just your technique, but the effects are absolutely top-notch! My junior sister also found some so-called famous doctors to treat me, but they were mostly all talk and lacked any real skill. There was one named Shi Huiguang, who was supposedly a very renowned doctor."
Mu Lin found the name familiar. 'Isn't that Divine Doctor Zhao's arch-rival?'
Mu Lin had given him a harsh lesson last time. He hadn't expected to hear news of him again in this kind of situation. It was a rather strange feeling.
Su Nuan returned. Seeing that her brother's complexion had improved so much, she couldn't help but laugh happily.
"Mr. Mu, your medical skills are truly divine! This is the first time in years my senior brother has been this energetic."
Mu Lin said, "He is a Martial Artist, after all. His foundation is still there. Once the old injuries are healed, his abundant Qi and Blood will return to where they should be."
Su Nuan put down the medicinal herbs and began to brew them. Her technique was practiced and deft; Mu Lin didn't even need to give her any pointers before she smoothly poured the medicinal liquid into a bowl.
It was a clear case of "a long illness makes a good doctor." Her skill was so proficient and experienced that it could rival Zhao Ling'Er's.
She helped Zhu Tong drink the medicine, and his spirits improved considerably right away.
"Divine Doctor Mu, please give me that hundred-million prescription. I will definitely find a way to raise the money to cure my senior brother."
Mu Lin glanced at Su Nuan and then said, "Are you sure? That's no small sum. Once you start down this path, it'll become a bottomless pit."
Su Nuan said earnestly, "Even if it's a bottomless pit, he's still my senior brother!"
Mu Lin opened his mouth, but no words came out.
Mu Lin and Su Nuan walked into the city, with Su Nuan slowly introducing him to the sights.
After explaining for a while, Su Nuan suddenly asked, "Mr. Mu, do you cultivate the Martial Dao? Are you a martial artist?"
Mu Lin chuckled. "You could say that, but not entirely."
Su Nuan just felt that Mu Lin was being deliberately mysterious and couldn't be bothered to press him, simply treating him as an ordinary expert of Qi Force.
The two of them had only been walking for a short while when someone suddenly stepped in front of Su Nuan, blocking Mu Lin's path at the same time.
"Miss Su Nuan, my Young Master would like to invite you for a chat."
Both men had grim, iron-cast faces, as if they were robots.
The words that came out of their mouths were cold commands; they clearly had no regard for Su Nuan.
Su Nuan said, "Mr. Mu, since they're blocking this way, let's just go another way! We're not going to let something so trivial stop us."
But one of the two men was relentless, continuing to block their path.
Enraged, Su Nuan raised her hand and struck. The two men blocking the path were unexpectedly and severely injured.
Her Inner Strength had reached major completion; she was not someone these message-delivering lackeys could handle.
Mu Lin's eyes lit up. 'This woman has some skill.'
At that moment, an old man slowly walked over and said indifferently:
"How interesting. To reach major completion with your Inner Strength at such a young age, impressive! No wonder our Young Master is set on her. This must be the reason."
"Her talent is just too good. No wonder the Young Master says he's singled her out."
The old man wore a tunic suit, and his snow-white hair was combed neatly. He had a very imposing air.
Su Nuan's expression changed. The pressure emanating from this old man was simply too great for her to bear.
'Could this old man be a master at the Grandmaster level?'
Her mouth instantly went dry. She couldn't possibly fight someone at the Grandmaster level.
"Girl, come along. The Young Master has been thinking of you for a long time. If you go now, you can still get a large sum of money and live a good life. If you go too late, you might not get anything at all!"
Su Nuan roared, "I don't like him! Does he really think he can force me to submit?"
The old man was very calm, showing no reaction whatsoever:
"So what if our Sun Family decides to take you? In the future, when you're living the good life, I'm afraid you'll even be grateful to me for giving you such a fine opportunity!"
The old man was utterly shameless, boasting grandly to Su Nuan.
Su Nuan was so angry she couldn't stand it. The heaving of her chest was truly a sight to behold.
With that said, the old man transformed into a blur and shot straight toward Su Nuan.
