My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 329 328: Charging In
Chu Chaoxiong pointed into the distance and shrieked, "A ghost! It's a ghost!"
A figure appeared on the windowsill, scrambling upward hand over foot.
Through the window, the face of a young man was visible.
The middle-aged man saw him too. He knew in an instant it had to be Mu Lin.
He didn't even consider another possibility.
The middle-aged man shot into action, lunging toward the window like a gust of wind.
Just then, Mu Lin punched through the window and stuck his head inside, trying to climb in.
The middle-aged man's vicious strike shot straight for Mu Lin's head.
Mu Lin dodged with unhurried ease, then slithered through the window like a snake, flipping over to land steadily on his feet.
'A Divine Realm master?' Mu Lin glanced at the middle-aged man, genuinely surprised.
'Chu Chaoxiong is just a businessman in a place like Anhua City. How could he possibly have an Innate Guard? What a joke.'
'Lin Tian and Lin Jin are way more impressive, and even they don't have Innate Guards.'
'This whole situation is just bizarre.'
'There's definitely something fishy going on.'
'But Mu Lin couldn't figure out what it was.'
CRACKLE...
The middle-aged man clapped his hands together, a look of grim resolve on his face.
When he parted his hands again, a series of sharp electrical arcs danced between them.
Mu Lin's eyes widened in disbelief.
'Isn't that the same technique I stumbled upon by combining my ice and fire arts?'
'How strange.'
Arcs of electricity crawled over the middle-aged man's entire body, as if he were a mulberry leaf being devoured by countless silkworms.
It was a terrifying sight.
Mu Lin smirked. 'This is the perfect chance to test my own strength.'
'I can't let it pass.'
His ice and fire auras erupted, and his body also began to crackle with deep purple arcs of electricity, a terrifying sight to behold.
Now there were two sources of crackling light in the room, making for quite a lively scene.
CRACKLE, WHOOSH.
The two fields of electricity seemed to sense one another, shooting out arcs of lightning. It looked as if two balls of pure energy were battling on their own.
"You... You also cultivate lightning techniques! Your Profound Thunder Aura is incredibly pure!"
The middle-aged man's eyes bulged when he saw the lightning enveloping Mu Lin.
Mu Lin said, "Heh, right back at you. Yours is pretty good too. If you weren't helping a villain, we might have been able to sit down and have a nice chat."
But that clearly wasn't an option now, because the man gave Mu Lin no such opportunity.
With a flicker of the electricity surrounding him, the man was instantly beside Mu Lin.
The two clashed, palm against palm.
Searing pain.
Mu Lin sucked in a sharp breath. But the middle-aged man was no better off. The webbing between his thumb and forefinger was torn open, blood pouring out. What a state to be in!
Refusing to give up, the middle-aged man blurred into an afterimage and pressed his attack.
BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG...
They unleashed a flurry of rapid blows, exchanging hundreds of punches in the blink of an eye.
Mu Lin held his ground, not losing an inch.
His thunder qi was generated entirely from ice and fire, and the amount of True Qi it consumed was far greater than that of a native Profound Thunder Aura.
Fortunately, his own reserves were immense, and he could replenish a great deal with every breath.
'I really have to hand it to the old man.'
'He broke several rolling pins on me for this.'
'And now it's saving my life.'
His powerful Inner Strength was undoubtedly his greatest advantage in the fight against this man.
RUMBLE.
Suddenly, a resounding boom echoed from within Mu Lin's Dantian. A look of joy flashed across his face, and he quickly released the enhancement from his fire qi and Profound Ice Aura.
The electricity surrounding him didn't vanish; it maintained its previous intensity.
'So what would happen if I pushed it a little more?'
Mu Lin narrowed his eyes. Qi Force surged forth, and the electricity around him turned an inky, jet-black color, radiating a terrifying aura.
'Oh ho ho!'
'The output intensity has tripled, but the actual increase in power is far more than that.'
'I'll have to test it to find out just how much.'
'And this middle-aged man, a fellow lightning cultivator, is the perfect guinea pig.'
'He's strong enough to make this a worthwhile test.'
Mu Lin went all out, unleashing his ultimate attack.
Faced with this surging thunder qi, the middle-aged man had no strength to resist. Half of his body was instantly vaporized into dust.
The man died without even a chance to utter his last words.
Mu Lin smirked, glanced at the corpse, and said nonchalantly, "Thanks!"
'Without such a perfect whetstone, how could I have pushed my power to its limits?'
'By pushing my output until my meridians grew accustomed to the flow of this new thunder qi, everything just fell into place.'
Mu Lin looked coldly at Chu Chaoxiong in the pool and the beautiful women at the side, who were scared out of their minds.
He frowned slightly and waved a hand. "Get out."
As if granted a pardon, the women scurried away, grateful to have survived as they fled outside.
Mu Lin turned to Chu Chaoxiong, who was trembling so hard he didn't know what to do with his hands.
"President Chu, I presume?"
"Yes, yes!" Chu Chaoxiong replied earnestly.
Chu Chaoxiong couldn't believe it. The powerful expert he'd hired was no match for Mu Lin. The shock was beyond imagination.
He had spent a fortune in money and resources to recruit this retainer, never imagining he'd be all bark and no bite, defeated so effortlessly by Mu Lin.
'But the crisis at hand is far more serious.'
Chu Chaoxiong looked at Mu Lin with utmost sincerity, his voice dripping with sycophancy. "Mr. Mu, if I had known you possessed such strength, I would never have dared to act against you."
Mu Lin gave a dry chuckle. "Isn't that the truth? Everyone likes to make money. All this fighting and killing is exhausting."
Chu Chaoxiong stood up in the pool. Mu Lin instinctively started to look away, but then noticed he was wearing swim trunks, so it wasn't necessary.
Chu Chaoxiong grabbed a towel and dried himself off. Mu Lin walked out of the pool area and sat down on a sofa.
Now dry, Chu Chaoxiong emerged in a bathrobe, looking completely at ease. Not a single trace of hostility could be felt from him.
'This old fox really knows how to keep his composure,' Mu Lin thought with a touch of admiration.
Nevertheless, he didn't lower his guard in the slightest, remaining ready to fight at a moment's notice.
Chu Chaoxiong brought over a pot of tea and poured a cup for Mu Lin, but Mu Lin only glanced at it, making no move to drink.
Noticing this, Chu Chaoxiong wasn't flustered. Instead, he said, "Mr. Mu, you're too wary. With my meager abilities, how could I possibly pose a threat to you?"
Mu Lin smiled, a thin line on his lips. "You're right. But as the old saying goes, it's wise to be wary of others. Just moments ago, we were locked in a life-or-death struggle. Now we're supposed to be chummy? Does that seem appropriate to you?"
Appropriate?
The word struck Chu Chaoxiong like a hammer blow, leaving him momentarily speechless.
"Well... of course it's not entirely appropriate..."
Mu Lin smiled faintly. "There you have it. Tea is a minor issue. Your situation, on the other hand, is a major one."
Chu Chaoxiong trembled. "Wh-what? What situation are you talking about?"
Mu Lin said, "You sent Niu Daoist, didn't you? He's been handed over to the Military Suppression Bureau. And the Grandmaster who was working with him? He's dead too."
Chu Chaoxiong's lips turned pale. 'Now there are countless new variables. In a place this big, you never know what might happen.'
"Yes, he's dead. Mr. Mu, what are you trying to say?"
Mu Lin said, "I'm just reminding you that this matter isn't so simple."
"What do you mean?!" Chu Chaoxiong's heart sank. 'Is Mu Lin really planning to go all out?'
"I'm not saying anything specific. It all depends on your sincerity, President Chu. If you're sincere, then I won't pursue the matter. If you're not... well, I can't say for sure what I might do."
"To be honest, I have a very bad temper. I can't guarantee I'll be able to handle things calmly."
"Yes, yes, I understand!" Chu Chaoxiong nodded frantically. "I will never target you again! Or anyone close to you!"
"Let's call a truce. No more fighting in the future, alright?"
Mu Lin said, "Sure. As long as you're willing, that's great."
"I'll cover all of Liangyu Investment's losses, plus an additional two billion in compensation."
"As for you, Mr. Mu, I'd like to offer five billion. I only hope to establish a connection. I'm not asking for friendship, just for you to remember my name."
Mu Lin smiled faintly. "Oh, I'll remember you, even without the money."
The undiminished killing intent in his voice made Chu Chaoxiong tremble like a leaf.
"My temper is the least of your worries. Have you considered that even after all this, you might still fail to satisfy me? What do you think will happen then?"
