Hearing Shen Xilu call some unremarkable man "sir," Niu Daoist curled his lip. 'The Military Suppression Bureau is really going downhill.'

'What good would a guy like this do?'

'They're being far too optimistic.'

'Enough talk. I'll take this waste of space down, and then I can enjoy that pretty little thing, Shen Xilu.'

A smirk played on Niu Daoist's lips as he gulped. She was just too alluring.

Shen Xilu, knowing Mu Lin's true strength, was naturally unafraid. She watched Niu Daoist with a calm expression.

"Who the hell are you? Doesn't the Military Suppression Bureau give you a uniform?" 'My strength is enough to take out Mu Lin in an instant,' Niu Daoist thought, 'but since I've already decided to team up with the other Grandmaster, I have to stick to our agreement.'

Mu Lin said calmly, "Who told you I was with the Military Suppression Bureau? I'm not. I have no connection to them."

Niu Daoist replied, "You're not with the Military Suppression Bureau, but you're walking around with them? You've got some real nerve! The people in the Bureau are vicious scum who'd eat you alive. If you're hanging out with them, you must be a real nobody."

Mu Lin chuckled. "You think I need you to tell me what the Military Suppression Bureau is like? But not everyone in there is scum."

Shen Xilu's expression grew complicated when she heard this. 'This is so frustrating,' she thought.

'Mu Lin's misunderstanding of the Bureau as a whole is just too deep.'

'But her heart felt warm. Mu Lin saw Team Eight as a special exception.'

'Maybe that's why he still picks up my calls.'

Seeing Mu Lin deny any connection to the Military Suppression Bureau, Niu Daoist's eyes darted. "Then are you from a Daoist sect?" he asked suddenly.

Mu Lin said calmly, "Nope."

As he spoke, his body shot forward like a projectile, landing with incredible force.

He hit the ground like a coiled spring, sending a tremor through the earth.

A shiver ran down Niu Daoist's spine. He never imagined the man would be this terrifying.

He instinctively pulled out a piece of talisman paper and slapped it onto his body. A puff of smoke immediately erupted from it.

A moment later, Niu Daoist's figure reappeared a short distance away.

"This...?"

Mu Lin was surprised. "A Substitute Spell?"

But he wasn't worried. He had paused to assess the situation and see where the man would land.

He could easily make up for that brief pause.

With a flicker of his body, he was in front of Niu Daoist once more.

Niu Daoist's face twisted. 'How can this guy be so damn persistent?'

He threw a palm strike, but it felt like hitting solid granite. The pain was unbearable.

Niu Daoist grimaced, clutching his hand and trembling all over.

'How can he be so tough!'

He prided himself on his considerable strength; he could break the Gang Qi of an ordinary Martial Artist. But this was a completely different story.

'Who is this mysterious man? Where did he come from, and how is he so strong?' Now he understood why the Military Suppression Bureau dared to have a Rank-1 agent lead this mission.

It was because they had someone this formidable with them.

"Who the hell are you? Why are you sticking your nose in this? What's in it for you?"

Mu Lin said calmly, "I don't really know. But I promised someone I'd help. And seeing as you're such a detestable piece of work, capturing you would be quite satisfying."

"Are you an idiot? You're going to all this trouble just for a laugh?" Niu Daoist cursed.

"Why not? What's the point of living if you can't have a little fun? This world would be boring otherwise, wouldn't it?" Mu Lin's tone was simple, but he clearly had no intention of letting Niu Daoist go.

This infuriated Niu Daoist. He could only pray his partner would get into position and land a fatal blow on Mu Lin.

He retreated hastily, but he was just running in circles, staying within a specific area.

His goal, of course, was to stall Mu Lin long enough to give the assassin an opening.

Suddenly, Niu Daoist remembered something. "I know who you are! You're that Mu Lin!"

Mu Lin was a little surprised. He hadn't expected this Niu Daoist to know who he was.

"Is my reputation really that widespread? How do you know me?"

Niu Daoist's eyes flashed. "You're the one who killed Vajra Zhenren!"

Mu Lin let out a soft chuckle and smiled. "That's right. It makes sense you'd know about me from that. Plenty of people were hoping Vajra Zhenren would be the one to kill me."

Niu Daoist's expression turned grave.

"But that's not right. Daoist arts are never taught to outsiders. How do you know them?"

While searching for the best angle of attack, Mu Lin said, "Nothing in this world is truly impossible. All Cultivation Techniques under the heavens are interconnected. As long as you go far enough down one path, you can use that experience to overcome the challenges of another."

"The only reason you're asking that question is because you still don't understand me."

Niu Daoist grew tense. What Mu Lin said actually made sense...

'So what do I do now?'

Mu Lin smiled. "Since you know who I am, you must also know you can't escape, right? Surrender now. It might go easier for you. If you don't, you're finished!"

"Don't try to fool me! How could things possibly 'go easier'? You just want to trick me into giving up so you can kill me!"

Hearing this, Mu Lin burst out laughing. "A quick, painless death... isn't that a good thing? I really don't get you."

Niu Daoist hadn't expected him to mean *that*. He sneered. "Fine! You're ruthless! But don't think I'm just some brute. I can use my head, too!"

As he spoke, he pulled a thick stack of talisman paper from his waist.

In an instant, the talismans activated, flying out in all directions and transforming into copies of Niu Daoist, which then scattered rapidly.

Niu Daoist hoped to escape by blending in with his doubles.

But Mu Lin reacted instantly. He circulated his Inner Strength, conjuring a fierce gust of wind that blew away the dust cloud obscuring the real Niu Daoist.

Without the smokescreen, the so-called doubles were riddled with flaws and couldn't possibly fool him.

Mu Lin immediately charged forward. The sight was terrifying, especially to Niu Daoist.

But suddenly, the man he was charging toward transformed into Shen Xilu.

Shen Xilu hadn't expected to suddenly appear here either. To her horror, she saw Mu Lin rushing straight at her.

"Mr. Mu, it's me! Look carefully!" She was terrified. With Mu Lin's power, a single attack could obliterate her.

"I see you!" Mu Lin sneered, swerving around Shen Xilu and changing direction to charge at Niu Daoist.

Niu Daoist was already making a break for the door. He knew he couldn't beat Mu Lin, so his only goal was to escape with his life.

Mu Lin gave him no such chance. He flickered and, in less than a moment, appeared right behind him.

With one punch—BAM!—Niu Daoist spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed powerlessly to the ground, unable to move.

Mu Lin smiled faintly. He'd left Niu Daoist barely alive. For the Military Suppression Bureau, a living target was far more valuable than a dead one. "Heh, running away isn't that easy. I've gone to a lot of trouble for you."

Niu Daoist coughed incessantly, spitting up mouthful after mouthful of blood in a ghastly display.

Mu Lin raised his foot and brutally kicked the man, knocking him unconscious.

Mu Lin dragged Niu Daoist back and tossed him by the villa's entrance for the Military Suppression Bureau to collect later.

Mu Lin returned to the villa to find a dagger pressed against Shen Xilu's pale neck.

Its blade glinted coldly.

"Don't move, or I'll kill her."

Mu Lin said, "I was going to let you live, to not even bother with you. But you just had to reveal yourself."

The Grandmaster was startled. "How?! I was hidden perfectly!"

Mu Lin replied, "What's the point of hiding well? If I were you, I'd find the nearest tree and bash my own head in. What an embarrassment."

"You thought a mere Breath Concealment Talisman could hide you from my Divine Sense? Are you kidding me? A thing like that is fine as a toy, but using it in a battle to the death... I almost feel sorry for you."

Mu Lin's tone was casual, but his words sent a chill down the Grandmaster's spine.

"Divine Sense? You... You're a Great Grandmaster?!"
