My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 272 271: Healing the Woman
Mu Lin felt something was wrong the moment he struck and immediately pulled back some of his power.
A petite woman fell limply out of the bushes.
His strike had landed just in front of her.
No wonder it had felt incredibly soft, with almost no feedback.
"Senior, my apologies. I was just passing by. I mean you no harm."
Mu Lin couldn't see clearly in the dark, so he had to release his spiritual sense to scan the area.
The woman's frame was truly small, but her... assets... were truly large, leaving quite an impression on Mu Lin.
Mu Lin said, "With your level of cultivation, you dared to challenge a Grandmaster? What were you thinking?"
The girl had been dizzy and disoriented, but hearing Mu Lin's judgment, she looked up in surprise.
"How did you know? You didn't even see him!"
But she couldn't hold on. After saying just that one sentence, she fainted again.
Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth. It seemed her internal injuries were severe, and she'd fainted from the pain.
Mu Lin pursed his lips. Suddenly, he felt a powerful aura approaching.
It was clearly at the Grandmaster level.
It was probably the same Grandmaster she had been fighting. After the woman had found a way to escape, the Grandmaster had tracked her here.
Mu Lin made a swift exit.
A moment later, an old man appeared. He swept the area with his spiritual sense, and his face turned ashen.
"To think she vanished right here. Someone must have interfered."
"What audacity! You dare meddle in the affairs of I, Vajra Zhenren? Aren't you afraid of losing your pathetic life?"
"If I ever catch you, I'll make you pay with your life!"
The old man circled the surrounding area but found no clues.
"Forget it. It's more important to go to Anhua and avenge my junior brother."
Mu Lin brought the woman back to the hotel and got another room.
"Elder Bai, I need to ask you for some medicinal herbs. Could you have someone send them over?"
"We're on the same side, no need to be so polite. Just tell me what you need, and I'll have the butler bring it."
Mu Lin rattled off a long list. "Just have them delivered to the front desk."
Mu Lin walked over to the unconscious woman. Her petite frame was the kind that easily stirred a person's protective instincts.
"My apologies."
Mu Lin removed the woman's outer jacket. Thankfully, she was wearing a sports bra, which saved him from any awkwardness.
Mu Lin then turned his attention to the wounds on her body.
The wounds were shocking to behold, with dark, purulent blood oozing from them.
'Strange, why is it still bleeding now?'
Logically, it should have scabbed over after so much time. Especially since this woman was a Cultivator, she should heal even faster.
Only after a closer look did Mu Lin realize there was more to it.
A powerful Qi Force was attached to the wound, a chaotic energy rampaging within it.
'That old man is so ruthless. What did this girl even do to him to deserve such a venomous tactic?'
Mu Lin tried to use his True Qi to expel the chaotic Qi Force, but it wouldn't budge. It even devoured his True Qi.
Not only did it not help, but it actually made the chaotic Qi Force even stronger.
Left with no choice, Mu Lin had to get rough.
He hadn't used his Profound Ice True Qi at first mainly because he was worried it would harm the woman's body.
But now, he had no other option.
He swept it over her. A layer of frost covered the wounds, but the chaotic energy was completely cleared away.
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.
Mu Lin turned to open the door. Xu Bing was standing outside with a trolley. "Chairman Mu, I've brought all the medicinal herbs you requested!"
Mu Lin said, "Why haven't you gotten off work yet?"
He had thought a front desk attendant would be the one delivering them.
Xu Bing said, "You're staying here, sir, how could I dare to clock out? I'll sleep in the staff room, it's all the same. Just call me if you need anything."
Mu Lin said, "Alright, thanks for the hard work."
Xu Bing was serious and responsible. Mu Lin felt very confident entrusting Tang Shuang's training to him.
Xu Bing glanced into the room and saw the woman's jacket, which had been removed, lying at the foot of the bed.
'Chairman Mu is a hot-blooded young man, after all. It wouldn't be strange for him to do... something,' he thought.
'I'll just keep this a secret for him,' he thought. 'No need to tell Tang Shuang.'
Mu Lin took the herbs, quickly mixed them into a powder, applied it to the woman's wounds, and wrapped them with gauze.
Finally, he covered the woman with a blanket.
Not long after, the woman woke up. Her first reaction upon seeing the ceiling was to check herself over. Finding everything as it should be, she let out a long sigh of relief.
Looking up, she saw Mu Lin sitting on the small sofa, lost in thought.
"You're the one who saved me, right?"
Mu Lin said, "I've treated all your injuries, but don't overexert yourself for the next few days, or it could cause major problems for your future cultivation."
"My name is Su Rui Nian. Thank you for saving me..."
Mu Lin smiled. "I'm Mu Lin. I used a lot of medicinal herbs to save you, and you'll have to pay for them. I don't run a charity."
Actually, if the woman were a bit smarter, Mu Lin wouldn't have minded forming a good connection.
But seeing her throw herself against a rock like an egg by fighting a Grandmaster, he figured she wouldn't live long. If she died before she could repay the favor, it would be a total loss for him.
It was more straightforward to just ask for money.
"Alright, no problem! I definitely won't let you lose money, sir! In any case, I will remember this great kindness!"
Mu Lin thought for a moment. "Your opponent is very strong. The fact that you escaped from him was largely due to luck."
Su Rui Nian recalled what happened earlier. Even before she fainted, Mu Lin had said she was injured by a Grandmaster.
"You're incredible, sir, to be able to see all that. You must be very powerful, right?"
Mu Lin said, "I'm just average. An Independent Cultivator, that's all. I wouldn't dare call myself an expert."
Su Rui Nian was rather disappointed. She had hoped that if Mu Lin was an expert, she could rely on him as a backer.
She never thought he'd be so average. An Independent Cultivator was basically a nobody. Everyone knew that all the real resources were in the hands of Great Cultivators. What could a mere Independent Cultivator possibly have?
Mu Lin said, "There's nothing else I can help you with. Just pay for it all when you pay for the room at the front desk. It'll be a bit expensive, so be prepared."
Su Rui Nian pouted, thinking, 'Anyone who's out here cultivating, how could they not have money?'
Mu Lin returned to his own room. Tang Shuang was still asleep, so he meditated for the rest of the night.
When he saw the first light of dawn flash across the sky, he went downstairs for a walk and accepted greetings from everyone.
Then he brought some breakfast for Tang Shuang. By the time he got back, she was already awake.
When Tang Shuang saw Mu Lin, there was a hint of disappointment in her eyes.
She had gone to such great lengths to set the mood, yet Mu Lin hadn't even laid a finger on her.
It was just...
Mu Lin smiled. "Did you rest well?"
Tang Shuang composed herself. "I rested fine. Staying in my own hotel is always comfortable."
"You'll have plenty of chances to sleep in the future," Mu Lin said cheerfully. "Eat breakfast. I brought a little bit of everything for you. Go on, eat."
Mu Lin rested for a while. By then, Tang Shuang had already finished her breakfast.
"Let's go, I'll take you home."
"No, it's okay. Since I'm already at the hotel, I might as well start my training."
Mu Lin said, "Then go find Xu Bing. He slept in the staff room last night, so he should be here by now."
After settling that, Mu Lin prepared to return to the Bai Family's residence to pick up Lin Shishi and Hong Rui.
They were probably bored to tears by now.
Unexpectedly, he received a call from Wu Henghai, telling him to meet at the hospital.
Without a second thought, Mu Lin went. He found Wu Henghai and Tang Zhi in Tang Zhi's hospital room.
"Brother Tang, how are you doing?"
"Mu Lin, thank you! I feel like all my injuries are healed! I feel like I have boundless energy!"
Mu Lin smiled. "That's good to hear. But you need to be careful. As the saying goes, 'a hundred days to heal from bone and muscle injuries.' You can't just jump around full of life because it doesn't hurt anymore. You'll really injure yourself."
"I get it!" Tang Zhi chuckled. "This isn't the first time I've been injured. I know this stuff much better than you do."
Tang Zhi suddenly grinned. "Mu Lin, I got a promotion, and it's all thanks to you!"
Mu Lin had already guessed as much, but he still smiled and said, "Congratulations!"
Tang Zhi said cheerfully, "It's all because of you. Without you, I wouldn't have been fortunate enough to get this promotion."
Without Mu Lin saving him, Tang Zhi would have certainly met a dead end.
Tang Zhi was well aware of his own value; it wasn't high enough for the Military Suppression Bureau to use their life-saving reserves and go all out to treat him.
"Right now, I'm already a level-three operative! The benefits and salary are on a whole other level. I can give Shuang'er a better life now!"
