My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 232 231: Finding Life at a Dead End
The color drained from Tang Zhi's face. He wasn't worried about himself; his life was filled with constant danger, and he knew this day would come sooner or later.
But he was worried about his sister!
Tang Shuang was innocent!
She had a useless brother like him and hadn't lived a single good day. Now, just by coming out for a meal, she'd stumbled into a deadly trap.
He desperately tried to circulate his True Qi, but it felt as if someone had punched a hole in his Dantian. His True Qi was draining away like water.
Tang Shuang was so scared she couldn't stop crying. Although she was unharmed, there was no way for her to get her brother and Mu Lin out of there.
"Immortal Drunk, is it? For an ordinary person, it might just cause a bit of numbness in their limbs. But for a cultivator, it's a disaster. Once it mixes with your True Qi, you're no different from a cripple. This stuff is strictly forbidden. Anyone who breaks that rule is supposed to be beheaded," Mu Lin said slowly.
Su Longfei laughed smugly. "That's right. But since you're all about to die, who's going to find out?"
Tang Shuang screamed, "Aren't you afraid of being discovered? This is a hotel!"
Su Longfei grew even more arrogant. "This hotel is mine! Everyone here, from top to bottom, does as I say. Who would dare to gossip?"
Tang Shuang burst into tears. 'We're really doomed this time.'
Tang Zhi was furious, cursing with all his might. "Su Longfei, you despicable bastard! Just you wait! You'll meet a terrible end!"
Su Longfei suddenly roared with laughter. "Hilarious! Absolutely hilarious! Oh, Tang Zhi, it seems the Military Suppression Bureau has made you stupid. Haven't you ever heard that all's fair in war?"
"As long as I kill the target for my client, I don't have to worry about the cleanup. Someone else will take care of it for me."
"Your Military Suppression Bureau should be quite familiar with this sort of thing. You've done it plenty of times yourselves!"
Tang Zhi roared, "Bullshit! We've done no such thing! The Military Suppression Bureau protects the realm and defends the nation. How dare you slander us with such baseless accusations!"
Su Longfei turned to Mu Lin, looking him up and down. "So young. Truly young. This is the first time I've ever seen a Grandmaster this young."
"To be able to beat Sun Tiandang into that state... I don't dare underestimate you," Su Longfei said coldly.
Tang Shuang held up her phone. "I'm warning you, if I call the Government, you're finished! Let us go, now!"
Su Longfei laughed wildly. 'This girl is truly naive.'
"Go on, call them. If the Government actually shows up, I'll gouge out my own eyes and stomp on them like grapes."
Tang Zhi sighed and said to Tang Shuang, "Shuang, if reporting to the authorities was effective, the department I work for wouldn't need to exist."
Tang Shuang didn't know what her brother did for a living, but seeing him in this state, she felt a pang of sympathy and sorrow.
"Brother!"
She threw her arms around Tang Zhi, dissolving into tears.
"Now, what are you crying for?" Mu Lin sighed. "Don't worry too much. As long as I'm here, I'll make sure you get out of this alive."
Mu Lin was still holding his wine cup, sipping from it slowly.
To the other three, this scene was simply unbelievable.
Su Longfei exclaimed, "You still dare to drink that?!"
'That's not right,' he thought. 'If the poison had taken effect, he would have collapsed long ago.'
"How are you fine?"
Mu Lin chuckled. "Did I have to be affected? Would it have been better if I was crippled, waiting for you to kill me with a single slap?"
Su Longfei's expression shifted again and again. The poison hadn't worked on Mu Lin, which meant he had to face a Grandmaster at full strength.
'If not now, when?'
He hastily lifted the table and hurled it at Mu Lin, sending dishes and bowls shattering across the floor.
Mu Lin caught it with one hand, using a neutralizing force to dissipate the momentum before shoving it back.
The table flew toward Su Longfei with a BANG. He kicked out, shattering the table completely.
As the splinters rained down, Su Longfei threw a punch, aiming for Mu Lin's heart.
He was at the Peak of Grandmaster, after all, with exceptional skill. In a close-quarters brawl like this, he wouldn't necessarily lose to a Grandmaster.
His strengths were none other than power and speed.
But Mu Lin saw it all clearly. He timed Su Longfei's attack perfectly and simply grabbed him.
"You should be more careful. How are you going to face your students if you fall on your face?"
Su Longfei was stunned by Mu Lin's words.
But a moment later, Su Longfei thought of something. 'If Mu Lin really had the power of a Grandmaster, I shouldn't have been able to deal with that table he threw back at me.'
'But I did deal with it.'
'Does that mean Mu Lin's strength has actually declined?'
'If that's the case, then if I just drag this out long enough for the poison to fully kick in, he might not be able to beat me anymore!'
Su Longfei's eyes lit up. He immediately decided to stall for time.
With a roar, he charged straight at Mu Lin.
WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH! His fists flew like the wind, smashing directly toward Mu Lin.
The explosive power made the air feel scorching hot as it churned around them.
Mu Lin mused, 'Su Longfei's power is deep and explosive. Even if you lined up all the Grandmasters, he'd still be one of the top contenders.'
'If he had a few more years and broke through to become a Grandmaster, his strength would be even more terrifying.'
'But today, he broke a taboo. Not even the Heavenly King himself could save him now.'
Mu Lin's movements seemed to slow for an instant. Su Longfei seized the opening, lunging forward with a powerful punch aimed at the crown of Mu Lin's head.
But in that instant, a chilling frost filled the world.
'What's happening?' Su Longfei suddenly found he couldn't move.
'What is going on?'
He found his entire body was covered in ice, his muscles bound tight, rendering him immobile.
'Damn it, this isn't right!'
Su Longfei thought, 'This frost definitely isn't natural. We're in a private hotel room—where would snow come from?'
'The only possibility is that it came from Mu Lin.'
'Mu Lin did this?'
The thought had barely crossed Su Longfei's mind when Mu Lin's fist arrived.
A moment later, his arm took a hit, shattered by Mu Lin's immense force.
The blood froze the instant it gushed out.
Su Longfei screamed in agony. The pain wasn't just physical; it was in his very soul.
He never would have imagined that Mu Lin's cold could attack the soul itself.
But he had no more time to think about it. Mu Lin kicked out with precision and ruthlessness, and in an instant, Su Longfei was a helpless cripple with all four limbs broken.
"Is this the number one martial artist in Songyang? How disappointing,"
Mu Lin said coldly.
Su Longfei's face twisted in pain. 'So this is the power of a Grandmaster? I gave him just one tiny opening, and he turned the tables completely.'
And now, with the limbs he relied on completely broken, he had no chance of fighting back.
Mu Lin walked over to Tang Zhi and threw a few needles at him. Before long, Tang Zhi could move again.
However, a portion of his True Qi had been sealed, rendering it temporarily unusable.
"Mr. Mu, you've saved me again! Thank you so much!"
Mu Lin patted Tang Zhi's shoulder. "You arranged this meal for me, so all the responsibility lies with me. If anything, I should be apologizing for not warning you sooner."
"No, no, don't say that! I'm already grateful enough that you saved me. How could I dare ask for anything more?"
"Mr. Mu, how come the Immortal Drunk had no effect on you?"
Mu Lin smiled. "I was trained to resist poisons since I was a child. My resistance is a little better than most, enough that I could retain the strength to save myself."
"I see!" Tang Zhi realized. He had heard of this kind of training before, but he never knew it was real.
'Mu Lin must be the disciple of some reclusive master. How else could he be so incredible?'
Tang Shuang's eyes sparkled. Watching Mu Lin defeat Su Longfei, she had become completely mesmerized.
'He's even cooler than a martial arts movie star.'
'What should I do?'
Tang Shuang grabbed Mu Lin's hand, her eyes twinkling like little stars. "Brother Mu, can you teach me kung fu?"
Tang Zhi jumped in shock. In the Jianghu, passing on one's techniques was a highly sensitive matter. How could Mu Lin possibly teach his skills to Tang Shuang without permission from his own master or sect?
Some even had rules about only passing skills to men, not women, which would make it even more troublesome.
"Shuang, don't say such things! How could Mr. Mu possibly take on a disciple so casually?"
Mu Lin waved his hand. "Don't be so alarmed. Tang Shuang isn't asking to become a formal cultivator with me; she just wants me to teach her a few fancy moves. They'd be good for self-defense or even just for show."
'I was being too uptight,' Tang Zhi thought. 'It's a huge relief that Mu Lin doesn't mind.'
"Oh, well, if that's the case, then that's wonderful!"
Tang Shuang clapped enthusiastically. "Brother Mu, you're the best!"
Hearing this, Tang Zhi's face darkened. 'Your own brother has raised you all this time, and I've never once heard you praise me like that.'
