My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 171: Blocking the Road
Jiang Lan watched their backs as they walked away, feeling utterly wronged.
'I'm not bad-looking,' she thought. 'How many men have gone crazy over my beauty?'
But Mu Lin couldn't care less. He just turned and left.
'Is it because of that Zhao Ling'Er?' Jiang Lan sighed. 'I don't think the gap between me and her is that big.'
'Damn it, to be beaten by a young girl...'
She stomped her foot and turned to leave.
Mu Lin walked with a light step. Not only had he found the Vermilion Fruit for Li Yinhe, but he had also found the next material for his own cultivation.
Right now, the piece of cool jade was unceremoniously stuffed in Mu Lin's shirt, emanating a chilly aura.
In the summer heat, it was like a giant air conditioner, making both Zhao Ling'Er and Wei Nianru instinctively lean closer to him.
The two women's eyes met, and sparks flew instantly.
Zhao Ling'Er directly looped her arm through Mu Lin's and shot Wei Nianru a glare.
Wei Nianru was so infuriated she couldn't stand it. She turned and stormed off.
Mu Lin didn't understand why the atmosphere had suddenly become so tense.
Seeing this, Wei Jianjun knew his granddaughter probably didn't stand a chance, so he didn't say anything more.
'Hopefully, my granddaughter can just forget about this whole thing.'
An old saying goes that a melon plucked by force isn't sweet. Since Mu Lin already had Zhao Ling'Er by his side, forcing yourself into the picture would be a very bad idea.
Wei Jianjun pondered for a moment, then cleared his throat and found a topic of conversation.
"Divine Doctor Mu, are you returning to Anhua City with Elder Zhao?"
Everyone knew that Zhao Yang's base of operations was in Anhua.
Mu Lin said, "That's right. The Vermilion Fruit is for an elder I know. His life is in danger and he needs treatment."
Hearing this, Wei Jianjun was filled with emotion. 'What a good kid! So filial! The price of this one Vermilion Fruit is probably enough to buy an entire building in Anhua.'
He thought further, 'If I go to Anhua with Mu Lin, can I continue to strengthen our relationship?'
"Well, it's on our way. Let's travel together, shall we?" Wei Jianjun said.
Wei Nianru was shocked. Their home was in the complete opposite direction of Anhua. How could Wei Jianjun lie with a straight face?
However, she didn't expose her grandfather. 'Grandpa must have his reasons for saying that.'
Mu Lin said coolly, "Fine. We may as well go together."
Zhao Ling'Er's Polo was in the lead, with Wei Nianru's Chery eQ1 following behind.
The two cars drove out of the mountain villa.
But outside the villa, two rows of cars were parked, with a line of people standing between them.
In the center was Master Bai, the man who had sworn to kill Zhao Yang that morning.
'The Bai Family just doesn't know what's good for them. Are they really determined to take Zhao Yang's life?'
Time was short, leaving little room for negotiation.
It would be best to use the simplest method.
Mu Lin pushed open the car door and got out.
Zhao Yang said, "Mu Lin, just get them to clear the road. Don't let things get too ugly..."
'What's the point of this?' Mu Lin thought. 'What good has Zhao Yang's repeated tolerance ever done?'
"I'll try my best."
Zhao Yang opened his mouth as if to say something more, but ultimately didn't.
Mu Lin turned and walked straight toward Master Bai in the center.
When Master Bai saw Mu Lin, he raised an eyebrow. This was the same reckless fool from the morning who had tried to stop him from killing Zhao Yang.
Although he had been stopped by Mr. Qingshan from the villa, Master Bai remembered him very clearly.
"Get out of the way. A good dog doesn't block the road," Mu Lin said, his words laced with hostility. His attitude was already terrible.
If Master Bai knew what was good for him, he would have moved his cars immediately.
But Master Bai sneered, "It's you again. Did Zhao Yang promise you his granddaughter or something? Why are you protecting that quack?"
Mu Lin said, "Grandmaster Zhao is no quack. Otherwise, he wouldn't have such a huge influence in Nanjiang Province."
Master Bai shot back, "Then how did my father die?"
Mu Lin was expressionless. "You're asking me? Who should I ask? So many people die of natural causes every day. Are you going to blame Grandmaster Zhao for all of them?"
"It's 'Grandmaster Zhao' this, 'Grandmaster Zhao' that. Looks like you really are his grandson-in-law. In that case, I'll kill you first, then I'll kill him!"
With a wave of Master Bai's hand, his thugs surged forward like a tide.
But Mu Lin wasn't rushed. He responded calmly.
He remembered Zhao Yang telling him not to cause trouble, so he held back significantly, trying his best to subdue the thugs without injuring them before tossing them onto the nearby lawn.
It was summer, and the grass was soft and damp. A fall wouldn't hurt anyone.
In the car behind, Wei Nianru's palms were sweaty as she gripped the steering wheel.
"This can't be real. He's that good of a fighter? The Bai Family's thugs can only take a beating from him..." Wei Nianru muttered to herself as she watched.
Wei Jianjun, the expert, saw the finer points. "He's still holding back. I don't know the details of the dispute between Zhao Yang and the Bai Family, but he must have said something to make Mu Lin act this way."
"His opening moves are all precise strikes on the thugs' meridians, paralyzing them instantly before he throws them away."
"The thugs will only be dizzy for a little while. They won't suffer any real injuries."
"Has Zhao Yang become a vegetarian monk or something? Making things so interesting."
Wei Jianjun narrowed his eyes, musing, "I'm afraid Mu Lin's attainments in the Martial Dao are no less profound than his skills in the Medical Dao."
Wei Nianru's mouth hung wide open, big enough to fit an egg.
'Is he even letting others live? It's one thing for his medical skills to be incredible, but his martial arts are on the same level. How is anyone else supposed to compete?'
That "other family's kid" type was the most annoying, and it had been that way since ancient times. That strange bit of affection Wei Nianru had for Mu Lin vanished into thin air.
In no time, Mu Lin had thrown all of the Bai Family's thugs onto the lawn.
The lawn was densely packed with men in black.
It was also clear Mu Lin wasn't just tossing them randomly. Almost no two thugs had collided with each other.
This precision showed just how much control he was exercising.
What would it look like if he let loose and stopped holding back?
Master Bai didn't dare to even imagine it.
"Are we done? If so, please move aside. I had no intention of hurting your men. That should be enough to show my goodwill, right?"
But Master Bai was still filled with rage. "Goodwill? You threw all my men aside, and you call that goodwill?"
Mu Lin said, "They're not injured at all. Isn't that enough?"
His gaze swept to the third car from the left. "You, in that car, get out! Or I'll have to get rough!"
Master Bai was stunned. He couldn't help but turn his head to look at the car behind him.
There was indeed an expert hidden in that car. This was his ace in the hole, reserved for the final, fatal blow.
His plan was to use the thugs to stir up trouble, forcing Zhao Yang and his granddaughter to flee in panic.
Then, he would use the expert to deliver a single, lethal strike. That way, Zhao Yang's life would be his for the taking.
He never expected Mu Lin to discover him!
"Kid, you're pretty impressive," came a very appreciative voice from the car.
The door opened and a tall old man stepped out. He wore a pair of sunglasses and had an intimidating aura.
Master Bai said, "Elder Chu, you didn't have to come out!"
But Elder Chu said, "I've already been discovered. How disgusting would it be to keep hiding in here like a coward in its shell!"
Master Bai had little control over Elder Chu. Theirs was a simple relationship of mutual benefit. If Elder Chu was unhappy, he could leave at any time.
So, he had no choice but to accept the reality that Elder Chu was insubordinate.
Elder Chu clasped his hands behind his back and looked Mu Lin up and down.
He observed him very carefully. "Excellent foundation, and well-proportioned training. Not bad. You have a very good master!"
Hearing Elder Chu praise that old codger, Mu Lin was filled with disdain.
He was just an old codger. Mu Lin had suffered no small amount of torment at his hands.
Although the end result was that he gained incredible skills, the bitterness involved was something he couldn't share with outsiders.
Elder Chu asked, "Who is your master?"
Mu Lin: "I don't have a master. I figured it out myself!"
"Is that so?" Elder Chu licked his lips. "Then, go die! Don't blame me. You can only blame yourself for being too weak!"
Mu Lin tilted his head and glanced at Master Bai. "Is the expert you hired always this chatty? He hasn't thrown many punches, but he's already come up with a bunch of rhyming couplets."
Master Bai's face darkened. "Your repeated provocations have already incited my wrath. Don't think you can get away with it so easily!"
"Elder Chu's strength can be called supreme. He has already cultivated a surging, torrential Inner Strength."
"A one-inch-thick steel plate can be shattered by a single palm strike from Elder Chu!"
Mu Lin asked curiously, "You sure you didn't saw a line down the middle of the steel plate beforehand?"
He remembered that karate dojos performing hard qigong demonstrations would usually secretly saw partway through the boards they were going to use.
Elder Chu's situation was probably something like that.
But Mu Lin's words had made Elder Chu so angry he couldn't hold it in any longer.
