My Most Beautiful Fiancée
Chapter 167: No Ordinary Person
A dark figure swooshed in, blocking Mu Lin's path.
But Mu Lin's attack didn't slow. He continued his forward push.
The two collided.
Everyone present broke into a cold sweat. Jiang Lan's expression was incredibly grim. Who could have imagined this inconspicuous man would be so domineering, daring to challenge the powers that be right under their noses?
'Doesn't he know the price for fighting at Hidden Sword Manor?'
'If he knew, how could he possibly still make a move?'
But he had, in fact, made a move.
'All I can do now is hope the dark figure can subdue Mu Lin and hand him over to the Manor Master for judgment.'
Jiang Lan wasn't skilled in the Martial Dao. She could only passively wish that a troublemaker like Mu Lin would get the ending he deserved.
When the dust settled, Mu Lin was still standing in the same spot, while the guard who had blocked him had retreated many steps and was now unable to move.
"Mr. Qingshan!"
Jiang Lan cried out anxiously.
The guard waved a hand. "Stay back. He's no ordinary person."
Before his words had faded, he spat out another mouthful of blood, dyeing the ground red.
Jiang Lan completely panicked. 'Even Mr. Qingshan can't handle him?'
Mu Lin glanced at the guard called Mr. Qingshan.
This was the same person who had protected Zhao Yang, saving him from being killed by the Bai Family's guards.
'It was an unnecessary gesture, though. I could have protected Zhao Yang myself.'
Jiang Lan's mind was in turmoil. Mr. Qingshan was a Grandmaster-level expert. Ever since she'd met him, she had never imagined he could lose!
After forcing Mr. Qingshan back, Mu Lin walked up to Huang Fengnian.
Huang Fengnian desperately begged for mercy:
"Mr. Mu, I'm sorry! My heart must have been clouded by greed! How could I have made a move against you! I'm sorry!"
"And Divine Doctor Zhao, and Miss Zhao! I'm sorry to you all!"
Seeing Huang Fengnian's miserable state, anyone would have sighed in pity.
But Mu Lin just said, "We had no prior grievances, did we?"
"Right! Right! We have no grievances, no grudges! Mr. Mu, you can just let me go! I won't do anything to you."
Mu Lin countered, "We had no grievances, yet you sent a Grandmaster to kill me and seize my treasures. Now that we do have grievances, you say you won't do anything to me. Do you take me for a fool?"
Huang Fengnian was stunned. Mu Lin's question had completely stumped him.
'This young man's mind is perfectly sharp. I can't fool him at all!'
Seeing that his death was imminent, Huang Fengnian's eyes suddenly filled with venomous hatred. He pointed at Mu Lin and began to curse loudly:
"Mu Lin, you'll die a miserable death! If I die, Master Ning will definitely avenge me!"
Mu Lin struck with his palm through the air. An invisible Qi Force hit Huang Fengnian in the head from a distance. The violent Qi Force ravaged him from within, and in moments, Huang Fengnian collapsed to the ground, dead.
A hegemon of Di Yang City, a man who could stand on equal footing with Lin Tian, had died right here.
"Such a powerful technique..." Mr. Qingshan's eyes lit up. Beyond his duties, he was a pure martial artist with a deep fascination for combat skills.
Zhao Yang said, "Mu Lin, Master Ning is no ordinary person. Things are just going to get more and more troublesome now..."
Mu Lin replied, "And am I an ordinary person?"
Zhao Yang: "..."
'There was no comeback for that. If he was ordinary, what could you say?'
'And if he wasn't, what could you say then?'
In any case, at this point, Zhao Yang could only resolve to stand firmly with Mu Lin.
'I can only be thankful that I chose to be friends with Mu Lin from the very beginning. Otherwise, the Holy Medicine Hall would have probably been razed to the ground long ago.'
Mr. Qingshan thought it over and over. He couldn't recall ever hearing of such a young Grandmaster-level expert in the Jianghu.
He was too young. To have such a level of skill at his age... give him a little more time, and it would be unimaginable.
Jiang Lan was furious. "How dare you kill someone within the manor! I think you've lost your mind!"
"Do you have any idea what consequences you'll face?"
Mu Lin chuckled. "Why were you silent when he was trying to kill me? If I weren't reasonably capable myself, I'd have been long dead!"
Jiang Lan was fuming. Just then, several people walked over.
"Miss Jiang! We're here to move the collection piece that was bought back!"
The staff members were terrified when they saw the scene, but they pretended not to notice, trying their best not to think about what had just happened.
Only then did Mu Lin notice a cart in the courtyard, covered with a cloth. The cart was the exact same size as the one that had held the raw stone earlier.
Mu Lin said, "Is that the raw stone? I was the second-highest bidder. I want to buy it!"
Jiang Lan sneered, "In your dreams! The manor has already paid to buy it back!"
Mu Lin gave a dry laugh. "Has the money been transferred? Has the transaction been settled? Where's the receipt?"
Mu Lin wasn't the vice-captain of a special team for nothing; he knew that a transaction isn't finalized until there's a receipt.
Without one, the deal was invalid.
His words stopped Jiang Lan in her tracks.
Because, there really wasn't one...
The money hadn't even been paid yet!
Seeing the hesitation on Jiang Lan's face, Mu Lin continued, "In that case, as the second-highest bidder, I should have the right to take over this auction item, shouldn't I?"
Jiang Lan's expression changed. She suddenly seemed to remember something. "No, even if the buy-back transaction wasn't finalized, now that Mr. Huang is dead, this item will become part of his estate and be inherited by his relatives."
"It has nothing to do with you!"
Mu Lin said, "Are you saying I have to slaughter the entire Huang Family to get this stone?"
Jiang Lan thought about how this man was crazy enough to kill someone in the manor. 'That's probably not just a threat.'
Jiang Lan trembled all over. 'Mu Lin really is a lunatic! How can he say something like that?'
"No, please, sir, don't do something like that!"
Mu Lin said, "Then is there a problem with me buying this stone?"
"That's not something I can decide!" Jiang Lan pressed her lips together, preparing to make a final stand.
Mu Lin said, "Then I'll decide for you. If your boss asks, just give them my name!"
Tears welled up in Jiang Lan's eyes. She had never been so wronged in her entire life.
"Then... then please settle the bill, sir..." She was forced to follow procedure, hoping to stall for as long as possible. 'The Manor Master can deal with this when he shows up.'
Mu Lin, however, looked stunned. "I still have to pay? Didn't he already pay for me?"
'This... I've never met such a shameless person!'
Jiang Lan was so angry her tears instantly evaporated.
Mu Lin lifted the cloth off the cart and picked up the watermelon-sized raw stone.
"Let's go back."
'Got the Vermilion Fruit, and now the raw stone. This has been a huge score.'
'The best part is that the dead Huang Fengnian is paying for the raw stone.'
'A huge score.'
Thinking this, Mu Lin's steps became much lighter.
"You can't leave!" Jiang Lan said. "Please stay here until Master Ning personally says you can go."
'Master Ning, huh?' Mu Lin rubbed his nose and looked up at the sky. 'Zhao Yang is terrified of that name. I suppose he must be really somebody?'
Zhao Yang's face turned pale. "Mu Lin, things have really gotten out of hand now. This Master Ning is incredibly powerful..."
Mu Lin said, "No matter how powerful he is, if I want to leave, he can't stop me."
Zhao Yang said to Jiang Lan, "Miss Jiang, please be lenient and let us leave. We need to take this Spirit Medicine back to save someone!"
Jiang Lan: "I don't have that authority. If I could let you go, I would have done so already."
"If you want to blame someone, blame him for being reckless, for provoking someone he shouldn't have, and for implicating the people he wanted to protect. He deserves it!"
Mu Lin said, "By doing this, you're just getting more innocent people involved. The guards are just salaried employees. It would be a shame if I hurt them. Don't make an unnecessary move. Just step aside. It's the responsible thing to do for the manor's staff."
'The nerve of him to say that,' Jiang Lan thought. She raised her hand, about to call for backup.
"Wait! Don't make a bigger mess of things!" someone suddenly exclaimed.
Jiang Lan turned her head and saw an old man, supported by a woman at his side, walking over with faltering steps.
Jiang Lan's face paled in alarm. She hurried forward a few steps.
"Elder Wei, where is your wheelchair? You must be tired walking all this way!"
Elder Wei waved his hand dismissively. "I'm not tired, don't worry about me! If I'd waited for the wheelchair, I would've been too late, wouldn't I?"
Jiang Lan said, "You must be here for that raw stone, right? This hooligan has forcibly taken it, insisting it's his. The Manor Master was planning to buy it back and then sell it to you, but this shameless man just took it for himself."
Elder Wei was taken aback. "Is that true? Was the buy-back completed?"
Jiang Lan said, "Before the contract could be signed, he killed Huang Fengnian."
Elder Wei's expression changed dramatically. "But Huang Fengnian was one of Master Ning's men! Won't Master Ning be furious that he was killed?"
"Young friend, you have some serious nerve!"
